Tessa paced her class room while waiting for her pupil to arrive. The girl she was waiting for was named Cleo, Cleo was a nice pleasant name and Tessa wondered if her personality would be the same. Another student by the name of Altessa meaning noble reaper had been a less than happy young child.
Happy or grumpy it's my job to teach her, Tessa mused. At least Cleo shouldn't be too hard to work with skill wise, she though brushing a plum coloured lock behind her ear. Dark violet eyes stared at a door on the far side of the room. It lead to a terrain room where the girl's test would be, hopefully what she'd designed would prove effective as a test and could be used later on similarly gifted childen.
Glancing up at a clock she grinned, it shouldn't be too long now before the girl and her guardian got there.

It took a while, but they got there. Rapier had gotten lost on her way there (as Cleo was insisting it COULDN'T be that way and the gaurdian was always a sucker for her daughters pleas) but they were there.
The Fallen looked ruffled, her hair pulled back in a tight bun with a few strands around her face in faint wisps and dressed in a casual dress. There was a corset underneath but for a learning enviroment, Rapier wasn't sure if that was the way to go.
Cleo pranced inside before her gaurdian, beaming at the teacher cheerfully. "Sorreh~ W'go'lost." The words all ran together in a happy chirrup. She shouldn't be happy - her mother made her wear a pair of jeans. They were tight and they were BLUE but at least they didn;t make her bright yellow tank top look too bad. Today, two glittery clips held her curly dark hair back from her face.
"M' Cleo an' this's m'mam!"

Tessa smiled at the cheery child, this girl was going to be a pleasure to teach. " It's ok we all get lost from time to time." Considering she'd nearly gotten lost and been late to her original interview for her job here she knew this to be true.
She nodded to mother and child " Pleasure to meet you both." Formalities out of the way it was business time. " Now Cleo we'll be going into a terrain room today, it's a special room made to mimic other places we can't actually get to. Your test is set up in there. Your mother can come with us to watch if she wishes or if you want her to but she has to agree not to distract you."

"That means you better not ask me to help you." Rapiers voice was flat as she watched her daughter bounce around before her. One hand moved to rest on Cleos shoulder; despite her tone and the uncaring look on her expression, the movement was gentle. The goldcrest stilled.
"Wha's my tes'?" She asked anyway, wriggling from her mothers grip to move over towards the teacher. The teacher was the center of her attention now and thus, the reciever of a happy little smile. "'M I gonna haveta fight mons'ers? Mam's been showin' m'how to figh'!"

" Nope no monsters, though it's good to know how to fight and you will be taking lessons here about that later." Tessa said shakign her head. " Follow me please" she said before walking towards one of the doors alogn the far wall.
"Your test is a natural obstacle course, you'll run it and I'll write down how well you handled each part of the course." The test wasn't too hard but it wasn't too easy either though the girl should show an improvement in her sucess after multiple runs.

"Oh." She moved with her teacher good naturedly, pleased to hear her mothers light boot-steps behind them. Her Mam would be watching! She hadda do her best! The girl bounced slightly as she was getting the test explained to her, nodding firmly.
"Uh huh. Okay." She blinked up at her teacher, head tilting to the side. "We star' now?"

" Almost we just have to get to the starting point." That said Tessa tucked her clipboard under her arm and opened the door. Upon opening it there was a small blast of warm air that smelled of very fragrent flowers. Motioning for the mother daughter pair to follow her Tessa walked into the terrain room.
Instantly she was englufed in a forest and although she could make out the rooms ceiling above her there was quite a bit of obstructing leafy canopy making it hard. " Please note when you step in that the first part if this habitat is forrested, there's a path to follow that leads to a clearing and from there you can head to the small cliff range we have or follow the stream that sections off the land to the series of miniature caves"
For Tessa this was the strangest room ever, depending on the weather controls used you could have summer in the forest and snow on the cliffs at the same time.
Becuase it had the most possibilities it had been the room Tessa had chosen for Cleo as she could use different parts of the different habitats to test the girl's skill.
She lead the pair to large fallen tree trunk. " Cleo your first obstacle is to walk acoss the trunk." Due to trees with low lyign branches , moss and ground plant overgrowing the log it wouldn't be an easy test but it would give Tessa a good idea of which obstacles to do and which to skip. " You can start when you are read"

"Wal'cross the trunk." Cleo murmured after the girl. Her Mam was still standing there and she knew she was watching things. Assessing things like she had told Cleo to.
The bird was small, but not small enough to be able to walk under the branches. Bending would be required and.. her shoes wouldn't stick. Converse never did. So she stripped her legs of both her shoes and her socks before moving onto the log. Her toenails were just a little bit longer and sharper then humans and when she clenched them, dug into the wood.
Cleo didn't fall. She almost did a few times but the branches seemed to be the least of her problems. The moss almost made her slip and bust a cap but her toes and tail-fluffs spreading out, along with her wings, helped the girl measure.
Her last step, though, she faltered and slipped, just slightly on a leaf. It made her yelp and her feet slip but luckily she was at the end of the log and she hopped a few steps as her finishing touch. Cleos face was red with excertion, twisting to peer at Tessa. She had bent and twisting and hopped her way over that log and ...and...
"...di' I do ok?"

As she finished jotting down her notes Tessa nodded. " Very good, I certainly couldn't do that." This was true both due to her size and lack of the skill Cleo was showing. Based on what she'd seen so far another two obstacles should be all that was required to prove the girl was nimble beyond average and then it would be homework time.
Multiple runs over the course she'd decided were now not advised untill she had more practise but in perhaps a month some retesting could be done to see improvement.
" Follow me please." she said turning and walking down the dirt path.

Cleo grabbed at her socks and shoes and offered them to her mother before darting after Tessa. She was fast, but no more then the average giddy child. It was really her ability to duck and dodge and move that got her attention - not her speed.
"I'don' ma'er if I ge' dir'y?" She asked her teacher curiously. Rapiers throat-clearing behind her made the girl pause and repeat her last sentance, slower then the jumped, t-missing one she had previously spoke. "I'doesn-tuh matter if I ge-tuh dirty?"
There was silence. She was good.

" Nope, you can get as dirty as you want" Tessa said looking over her shoulder and willing at the girl. " Dirt is good for children or so I've been told." Honestly she doubted that a little dirt would hurt the girl, besides the tests were not designed with keeping clean in mind.
When they reached the next obstacle Tessa stopped and began explaining it. " Cleo I need you to follow the red line wrapped around the trees It's a big circle and you'll end up back here behind us." The path the girl had to follow was not one tessa could watch but that was fine. Trap controlled objects would swing and launch themselves at the girl , controlled by techs monitering the session. They would record the results of this test and radio them to her.

"Y'wan' me t'take a walk?" Her voice was a little incredilous but the girl flexed her wings and straightened her shoulders. She was still a little out of breath still, from keeping up with Tessa and the log, but it was time to do her best! People didn't love a loser, after all, no more then they loved a liar.
Cleo scampered down that red line showed to her by the teacher and she disappeared from sight. After a moment, a loud, shrill "AIIIIIE" came into play in the air. Rapier jerked slightly, narrow, cold eyes at Tessa. If her daughter died, it would be the teachers fault.
Luckily, some time later Cleo apeared. Her hair was in a frizzy, curly mess around her face and her eyes were bright with what Rapier could only assume was adreniline. Her hands were scrapped and her jeans were mussed and had smears of mud and green things on them. There was a bettle clinging to her sleeve.
This, Rapier could be proud of.
"Were 'here 'POSSED t'be flyin' 'hings in t'way?!" Her voice rang out, squeaking at the ends of her words even more so. The scar on her cheek had a scrape through it - a rock, her mam guessed. Cleo had ducked and ran and made her way as best she could. Most of the time it involved ducking, dodging to the side, squealing like a girl and running like hell.

Tessa had been slightly uncomfertable when Cleo's mother had been glaring at her. The last thing she needed was a hostile parent on her case. She'd been glad when Cleo had appeared.
Blowing plum coloured bangs out of her eyes she nodded at the girl's question. " Yep anything that came at you was supposed to, There are people watching us from other room who controlled stuff going at you and will tell me how well you did."
Considering he way the girl look Tessa decided to call it a day, pushing the girl much further might hinder her scores, besides the child's body probably needed to calm down. Not to mention that she didn't want to be responsible for injuries Cleo got while tryign her little heart out." While I wait for your score let's walk back to the class ok?"

Rapier was hostile but not outwardly violent. If harm came to her child, punishment would be bestowed to the stupid little girl and then to the teacher in charge. Attacking first without questions was a stupid way to fight.
Cleo was huffing and puffing still, rubbing her cheeks to scrub the dirt and the sweat away (yet only managing to smear the mud some more). "Okay!" There was a hop to her step, bare feet also scratched and one nailwas a dull red underneath, but she was rather happy.
"We done?"

As they re-entered the classroom Tessa nodded " Yep we're done" She would of said more had walkign talkie in her back pocket not buzzed. She awnserd it made several "Mmhmms" and " Is that sos" before clicking it off and grinning and at the girl.
"Well Cleo you passed your test, A bit of practise at home won't hurt you and not yelling when trying to dodge things make leave you less winded but otherwise a pretty good score overall." Tessa hoped both girl and parent would be happy with the assesment.
