Premise
Just what the heck is the six of cups!?

You won't find it on main street - it is quite an out-of-the-way establishment. Most likely you'll find it in some back alley where things should not be seen and even then it's not always where you think it is. Those who search for it will never find it unless they seek the truth... It is only then when the Six of Cups will be revealed to you.

Inside the dimly lit interior you will see many wondrous, strange, and mysterious things. Two of which are it's occupants; two young men who are usually referred to as the Twins or when they deem it necessary, they will supply you with a name if you ask nicely. All is not as it seems inside the Six of Cups - the young owners at time seem wise beyond their years and then at times they act just as they look. Many... exotic and arcane customers frequent the place.

Enter the Six of Cups with an open heart and mind... or reap your just deserts.

A more in-depth explanation

Six of Cups was inspired by the manga The Tarot Café, and is a very small cafe/shop where fraternal twin siblings give tarot readings. Both siblings are clairvoyant and can see the past, present, and possible future of their clients (but only when reading the tarot). Since the future has nearly infinite possibilites, the twins can only see one outcome through the cards. This is similar to the manga, with the exception of the twins (and possibly seeing the future strictly through the cards).

The shop itself is a mixture of café, mystical shop, and library of occult and arcane knowledge. Customers who come to the Six of Cups are usually trying to find something whether it be their future, a ancient artifact, or simply an answer to a question they have. The Twins deal in it all, along with their single employee, Jenna Collins. The shop keeps regular store hours from approximately 12 Noon - 11 PM, however the special and unique clients they cater to can be seen after hours but at a pretty steep price. After hours payment is usually found to be some rare object, something the client is willing to give up, or an exchange of knowledge. Again, I assume this is pretty similar to the manga in terms of after hours payment as well as seeing special clients after the shop is closed.

Gameplay is quasi-free form. What does that mean? It means that for the most part, there is no set plot unless players who portray the Twins and the shop's regulars come up with something particularly interesting. For the most part, there will be small mini-plots that pertain around the shop's clients who come to the Six of Cups for whatever reason.

I will need a few character slots filled - information on characters, requirements for these characters, and submitting such information will be detailed in the next post. Please do not post profiles in the thread as the thread is strictly for information, announcements, and gameplay.

Casting Call
A listing of available characters

Gameplay cannot start until ALL character slots are filled!

Please do not submit an application until I'm finished setting up the thread! When it is finished, I will post an application that is mandatory to send to me. I will warn everyone now that I will be nitpicky - if you don't see your name listed next to "RPed By" on the character you applied for I apologize, but someone else met my expectations a little better than you did. I realize this might be elitist and mean but I have certain characters in mind with particular personalities and requirements that I want fulfilled to the best of the player's ability. If you don't get the character, then you didn't meet the requirements I was asking.

Some characters are by invitation only, or start off as invitation only - the following is a key to let you know what characters are available, pending, etc.:

Available: this character is available to play.
Pending: this character is awaiting approval.
Taken: a player was invited to play this character and I'm waiting for a response.
Taken: this character is NOT available to play!

Twin (Male)
Status: Taken
Name: TBA by player
Info.: TBD by player
RPed By: TBA

Shop Employee
Status: Available
Name: Jenna Collins
Info.: Bright and upbeat dominate this character's personality. She is also a bit naive of the Twins more special customers. How she ended up being employed by the Twins is up to the player but must be approved both players of the Twins.
RPed By: TBA

Regular Customer (Werewolf)
Status: Available
Name: TBA by player
Info.: If you don't want to play a Werewolf per se, by all means create a different kind of Were-creature. The only requirements I ask if you creating something different is that this creature must be either cursed or bitten and the change they go through must be linked to the moon. Anything else is up for grabs - like the Vampire whatever unique, new, or different ideas you come up with for "Were-creature" lore needs to be run by me so I can put it in the appropriate thread.
RPed By: TBA

Regular Customer (Magical Creature/Being)
Status: Available
Name: TBA by player
Info.: What I mean by "Magical Creature/Being" is that they are not your normal human beings. These creatures or beings have some sort of supernatural ability such as a Wizard who can cast spells, use a staff, etc. Other such magical things can involve Faeries, mythological creatures - things of that nature. To qualify as a "Magical Creature/Being," your character must be born into the "magical realm." An example would be the Twins, who are born with their clairvoyancy. Any character that can cast a spell, has a special ability, or is some kind of creature will be considered a Magical Creature or Being. Why? Because they are superhuman or "abnormal."
RPed By: TBA

Regular Customer (Human)
Status: Available
Name: TBA by player
Info.: If your character is human they cannot do anything magical. They cannot do spells, have abilities, etc. However... they can be connected to the magical realm whether its due to some kind of situation they got into, some magical being has an interest in them... whatever. It is up to you, but it must be feasible.

This character appears to be an average human, someone who is considered "normal" by society. They have no special powers, cannot cast spells, etc. In all, they appear to be human. However, mystery surrounds this character and in some way they are connected to the Twins, but the Twins do not know this. The reason for such mystery surrounding this person is due to the Twin's inability to read into this character's past and future. The character must be very mysterious and does not reveal information easily, which will make for a complicated relationship with the Twins who find this person to be intriguing because they can't get a full reading but also at the same time terribly frustrating because they don't know enough about this person. Also, this character will kind of rub this fact into the Twin's faces, which further condones the "love/hate" relationship.

The Cast

Twin (Male)
Status: Taken
Name: TBA by player
Info.: TBD by player
RPed By: -[Dante Valentine]-

Regular Customer (Vampire)
Status: Taken
Name: Anthony Sparrow
Age: 2036
Appearance: He looks to be in his late twenties. Dark eyes with dark circles around them seemingly from lack of sleep. He's 6'2". (That was like really tall back in his day.) His skin is very pale, slightly olive but not really much colour to him at all. His hair is black and slightly curly. It curves around his face and falls just to his shoulders in the back. He has fine aquiline features like any good Roman aristocrat. Expressive eyes and full lips as well. He wears mostly dark clothing. Lots of black with burgundy or red. Sometimes blue but that just tends to drain the colour out of him. He likes silk shirts and smart dress pants. His shoes are always polished just so.
History: Anthony was turned in the year 1 BC in Ancient Rome. This was by a vampire who had been watching him for quite some time as he struggled to make his mark in the Roman senate. He made some enemies. His enemies burned down his villa with his wife and children inside. The ancient vampire saved him as he was trying to enter the blaze and nursed him back to mental health. Sadly, after a few hundred years with his beloved master, the elder vampire was slain by vampire hunters and Anthony went mad with grief for a time. He has no memories of his master or anything before the night he was killed. He has blocked it out of his mind. Trouble is, he can't quite unblock it and is rather muddled as to who he is. He only knows his name.
Additional Info.: His eyes are very sensitive to the light. Much more so than even a human's so he usually wears a pair of expensive sunglasses everywhere he goes. Even inside. However he can see just fine in pitch darkness. Note: (If I draw a picture of him, I'll scan it in. I don't believe in "borrowing" from other artists. If someone wants to draw him for me that's fine.)

The reason I have Lyre's application striked out is I'm not sure if he'll return to the RP or not. Over the weekend, I'll be contacting him to see. If there is not a change to his application by Monday, anyone who might be interested in playing a vampire can send me a PM.

Applications
Please fill out the forms to the best of your ability

There are two types of applications that players will need to fill out depending on the character they are applying for. I'll provide my expectations and small explanations for each application.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE PMed TO -[Dante Valentine]-

Regular Customers (i.e. main characters): Regular Customers are the characters listed above since they visit the Six of Cups on a fairly regular basis. Players who RP these characters must post to this thread a minimum of once a week (but I won't be horribly strict about this since I, myself, go AWOL sweatdrop ). My reason for requiring at least one post a week is due to the fact that these will be the main characters and main characters drive and move along plots. If we don't have main characters actively posting, the story gets pretty dull real fast, right? When real life issues come up, please inform me so that I can make an announcement in the thread to let the other players know so they aren't thinking, "What's up with Joe-Bob? He hasn't posted in a week!" If I don't recieve something from you, I will contact you.

Application:
Username:
Character You Are Applying For:
Character Name:
Age:
Appearance: You may provide an image so long as you give it proper credit. If you do not provide this information in your application, I will contact you to get the information. If you can't provide the necessary information I will then request a description of your character.
History: This information can be as brief or detailed as you wish it be.
Additional Info.: Provide any other information that you think other players will need to know.
Please provide a small RP sample: This is applicable only if you were NOT invited to play a character.
Are you willing to post a minimum of once a week?:

Non-Regular Customers (i.e. recurring/minor characters): These characters are not listed above. Basically, they are "fully customizable" meaning you have complete control over the character since I don't have any requirements unless your character is a Vampire, Were-creature, or Magical Being. Obviously, these types of characters are bound to run amuck but the ones listed above cannot be duplicated. Meaning, there can't be five billion tall, dark, and sexy vampires coming to the shop. What I'm saying is if you'd like to create a character type already listed -- try to be as different as possible. Non-Regular Customers are characters that come to the shop seeking the help of the Twins whether it be a tarot reading, the purchasing of an item, or simply using the library to further their knowledge. They come to the shop, find what they are searching for or find something to point them in the right direction and leave. Shop regulars and the Twins will not or rarely see these people again which means that your character will probably not last long in the thread. Recurring characters must need some kind of connection/involvement with the main characters and must be approved by the associated Regular Character. Note: Players submitting applications for Non-Regular Customer's can have an unlimited number of such characters. Meaning, you can submit this application to me for a new character as many times as you want.

Application:
Username:
Character Name:
Age:
Appearance: You may provide an image so long as you give it proper credit. If you do not provide this information in your application, I will contact you to get the information. If you can't provide the necessary information I will then request a description of your character.
History: This information can be as brief or detailed as you wish it be.
Additional Info.: Provide any other information that you think other players will need to know.
Please provide a small RP sample:

Application Process
How things will proceed once you submit one

At the moment, I am NOT accepting applications for Regular Customer characters and Non-Regular Customer characters. Before submitting an application please make sure you've read all posts and that the character you are applying for is available. If you have questions at any time, please let me know through PM.

Once you submit an application, you will get a responding PM thanking you for submitting an application. Please wait approximately half a week before contacting me regarding the status of your application since I'd like to have a fair amount of submissions to choose from. I will not respond to PMs asking me if you got the character -- you can check for yourself in the thread. Of course, that only applies to character's listed under "Casting Call."

In the case of Non-Regular Customer characters, please wait approximately two days after submitting an application. This is to ensure that if you want your character to have some kind of connection to the "Regulars" that the person playing said character approves of what you have in mind for the connection between your character and theirs.

Lastly, if I contact you to inform you that your application is not acceptable, something needs to be changed, or another player did not approve of something (in regards to a connection or whatever) please don't be mean, rude, or otherwise unpleasant. That's well... rude and won't get you anywhere in terms of the game.
