Away from the main building and down a shady path is the observatory. The building is made of two parts: the dome and telescope/lab, and a sitting area with books and other conviences. It is made of red brick mostly, with ivy clinging to the walls outside. The large building sits on the bedrock edge of a ridge rising high above a shimmering lake, giving a perfect view of the skies, day or night. It is set away from the other buildings to make sure light pollution does not disort the telescope's picture. You can see anything with the telescope: stars, asteroids, coments. You can even go supernova hunting.

Mel adjusted her sunglasses as she continued down the path, trying to make them sit evenly on her nose. So far she had only accomplished getting them to stay on her face, but balancing them seemed like an impossile mission at the moment. And everything was purple in her vision. Although she had grown used to it by now and it helped with the sun, it was a little annoying.
Still messing with the glasses, she drifted into the observatory.

She sat in one of the chairs provided, glancing around the room. There were a few books on the shelves, mostly about astrology, and posters on the walls. Mel absentmindedly picked up a book from a shelf, and open it to a random page, skimming over its contents before flipping the pages.

The book was full of pictures of stars and galaxys. They reminded her of the stalactites in Menzoberranzan, when they were wet with dew. Especially when they twinkled.
she shut the it abrupty, placing it none too carefully back on the shelf as the dust resettled. She really didn't want to be reminded on that right now.
