Hello everyone. My name is Solez (Zelos spelled backwards). Just a tad bit of a Tales of Symphonia fan.
My niece introduced me to Gaia a few months ago as I am a huge kid at heart. I am a stay at home mommy with only 1 child (I homeschool him). No, it hasn't helped my spelling or grammar out one lick. rofl Yes, he too has an account in Gaia. smile I used to make doll tags at a few forums but not so much anymore. However, I still love to dabble in tag making.
This is the first guild I have ever been in so please be patient with me as I learn my way around here.

Thank you. What grade would you suggest starting Pre-Algebra? My son is in 5th grade but his curriculum runs him a year and half ahead of standard public school (So the evaluation teacher has been telling me). I was thinking about starting in 7th grade??

The curriculum I'm using now has somewhat of a spiral design, where certain basic ideas for algebra and other more advanced math is taught and then returned to later.

The students I taught before this school were in 5th grade (a bit advanced) and were learning the very basics of pre-algebra, such as the concepts of an unknown variable and the like. Right now I'm teaching 7th graders (who are a year behind) and they are learning pretty much the same thing as my 5th graders. So, I would recommend 6th grade to start introducing the ideas at least. I agree that 7th grade is a good year to start delving into pre-algebra as well. 3nodding

Thank you. He has been doing missing variable for 2 years now, this year he has had to work some of the equations. I peeked at the back of his book and it looks like he's going to get introduced into solving Geometry problems. I will definately take your advice and start him then. Thank you so much for your input biggrin
