There was a hint of snow in the cold air - an unfamiliar scent to the orange and black female who trudged through the forest. She was hunting, her belly rumbling. She'd had no luck so far - in this frost cold and blue tinted landscape her tangerine coat stood out like a sore thumb. In this land she had gone from open areas to dense forest and now she wandered through a relatively lightly forested area - quite comfortable to walk in. There was enough cover to stop the wind chilling her to the core but it was not so dense that she could not move at relative speed.

The forest did not give her any cover and neither did the plains. If she was going to starve if she relied on hunting stealthily like her mother had tried to teach her. The young female trudged through the forest, eyes flickering up to the cold winter sun and willing it to warm the land again - as it had in summer. She had never been through a winter before and did not like it.

Her nose went back to the ground, seeking prey and she found it was filled, instead, with the smell of another wolf. Young, maybe. Male, though. She was a little mollified by remembering the young male she had once met... This trail smelled ever-so-slightly similar but was not the same young male. Perhaps they were from the same pack.

Hesitating, she looked around her, trying to figure out where the other was.

Cold was, most certainly, unexpected. Wyatt had been cold many times in his life up to this point, but this was decidedly the coldest he'd been yet. But even a wolf like him could tell it would only get colder.

Besides, the cold reminded him of water. Not nearly so cold as the ocean which he feared, but life rivers and lakes. And he liked the mud once he could find it.

Laying down placidly in a small mud hole Wyatt's paws were tucked beneath him as he lay twisted oddly on the ground. His chin had sunk somewhat into the ground and so his eyes were level with the mud he'd flopped in moments earlier.

It had been a good romp, but now he was waiting for a friend to come. Any butterfly or beetle. Anything really, because everything was a friend.

The unknown especially had friend potential. All the colors here were similar. Green, brown, black, and orange.

...wait. Orange?

Tail thumping excitedly Wyatt lifted his head and sat up. Friend friend friend! He looked eagerly for a scent and once he successfully caught it he lept up and bounded in the direction.

The quiet female was somewhat taken aback by the young wolf bouding towards her. Her ears flicked back, uncertain. As the boy came into view she was a little relived. Even though she was not a very large wolf this adolescent was a bit younger than herself and was a little less imposing than a fully grown male.

She stood somewhat transfixed tipping between wishing she could move on and curious to se if this young male perhaps knew the one she had met so long ago..

Maia raised her head up, trying to look somewhat friendly. She wasn't keen on males but when they were young she found that she didn't feel quite so threatened. "H..hello?" she said as the grey-ish male with the spotted face came into view. She tried her best to look friendly but only managed to look apprehensive.
