No. Most of my friends think I'm goth too, but it doesnt matter to me. Just let them think whatever they want of you. If they like you and want to be around you, that great. If they don't, then thats fine too. Just cause I like marylin manson doesn't mean that I'm some freak thats going to abduct children and bury them in my basement.
Just be however you feel biggrin You don't necessarily need to follow any of the stereotypes that socioty has lad down about how different social groups are supposed to act 3nodding

Being a hippie is how you feel and act. If you feel and act, at least somewhat, like a hippe then you are a hippe, no matter what you look like. Me Im a long haired, always wearing black, metalhead, nerdy, hippie. All the german power metal and greek black metal doesnt change that Im a happie, because I feel like a hippie, therefor I am. If you feel like a hippie therefor you are.

It sounds more like you're listening to the voice of your own insecurities rather than the voices of everyone else. Don't let labels and stereotypes and things like that hold you back or tie you down.
I don't even have to say, "Don't worry about what others think," because it's a given. (: I want to say, "Don't worry so much about how the image you want to project of yourself looks to others."
Just "be" and you will. <3

Being a hippie has nothing to do with how you dress.
LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR: Being a hippie has nothing to do with your political standing, either. I happen to be republican. Not all republicans are bad. Face it, get over it.

I've been called everything from a punk, goth, nerd, freak, hippie, and even dyke (which is quite funny, considering I'm actually rather boy crazy o.o). Don't let anyone tell you who you are considering that you are you...and I've just confused myself. Oh, well. "Just be yourself", I suppose would be fitting.

So wait, back up...
I already knew that being a Hippie is not about how you dress or what your political standing is or even what music you listen to...
then I had this revelation or whatever...
what is being a hippie about?

Well, I think that you are succumbing to stereotypes if you feel you can not think or act a certain way just because of your style of dress. Not everyone can or should be categorized, you know - it is quite possible that a lot of people who dress Gothic cut themselves because they think they have to if they want to be a "goth". Dress how you feel most comfortable, and act in the way you feel is right for you. That's all there is to it. wink
