Grete had a lot on her mind. Knowing this, she decided to take a long walk. To clear her head. Or something. Weaving in and out of all of the trailers, she longed to find some place just to relax. She kept an eye out for different locations, but it was a difficult task.
Moving towards a couple of trees that she had seen earlier, Grete decided that she could sit there. At this point in time, she didn't really care if her dress got a bit dirty. She could wash it, after all. She sat down, and leaed backwards onto the bark, and closed her eyes, so she wouldn't be blinded by the sun. Grete took a deep sigh, and straightened her posture slightly.
Perhaps now she could get away from the noisiness that were her trailer 'neighbors'. They were always loud and obnoxious. Grete didn't really care to be woken up in the middle of the night by the noise of parties or who-knows-what.

Sometime earlier, Lucrezia had gotten it in her head to climb the tree. It was a lovely, tall speciment of magnolia, and it had seemed like a rather bright idea at the time. But now, when she was almost done climbing down, someone had decided to fall asleep where she was about to land.
She paused in her descent and crouched on the branch.
"Dis!" she called. "Vous dormez? Get up, or I'm going to jump on you!"
Not that I would like to, she thought.

Grete jumped after hearing this. She glanced upwards, an eyebrow arched gracefully, and squinted a bit. Was there a girl in the tree? And was this girl really going to squish Grete?
She moved out of the way quickly. Getting jumped on was not in her agenda today. Grete stood up and stared in the tree, with her hands on her hips.
"Sorry for," Grete thought about what she was going to say, "Being in your way. I wasn't aware that you were using the tree."

Lucrezia dropped to the ground in a swift, fluid motion. She shrugged. "You couldn't have been. So it's not your fault."
She casually picked a few splinters of wood out of her grip wraps and extended a hand towards the other girl.
"I'm Lucrezia. I work at the Cirque. Et vous?"

Grete took this girl's hand, and shook. Grete didn't know much French, but she could infer what this girl was saying for the most part.
"I'm Grete. Grete Llaire. I work at Cirque as well," Grete gave an appreciative smile, and added, "Small world, eh?"
Grete was a bit dazed by Lucrezia moving so fast and gracefully. She concluded that Lucrezia must be some sort of acrobat.

"Very," Lucrezia replied dryly. It seemed like so far she hadn't met a single person who was not somehow connected to the cirque.
So far, it seemed like people introduced themselves by act. So she figured she'd follow suit. "Trapeze and Aerial Silks," she continued. "And yourself?"
Hopefully it would be something interesting. So far everyone had been, making Lucrezia feel rather plain in comparison.

Grete smiled. She'd been right. Well, sort of.
"I'm the medium," Grete said, a bit plainly, "Not anything that I have to train for, like yourself, but, it works." Grete bit her lip, hoping that Lucrezia wasn't too terribly interested. She didn't let this show on her face, though.
"So, uh," Grete tried to change the subject, "Do you like it here at Cirque?"

As far as mediums went in Lucrezia's experience, they were all frauds. She figured that might be the case here. However, when you assume...
She had to ask. "So you make things up?" she inquired, knowing it could be offensive.
She had a feeling she might be right. After all. Every medium she'd met back in Rome had either been a lunatic or a joke.

A muslce in Grete's jaw tensed. Her eyes narrowed at Lucrezia. Quickly, she spread a venemous faux-smile and inhaled deeply.
"You know," she said, her voice sounding as though it were dripped in fake honey, "That's not exactly the type of thing that you say to people around here. Especially," Grete dropped her fake kindness at this point, "When you're new."
Grete bit the inside of her cheek. She felt as though she were a little girl again. Still living under her parents' roof; still in grade school. Those were days that she desperately wanted to forget. And how dare this little brat bring them up again? Grete tried to convert all of her sadness into anger, which, to her, seemed to be the lesser of two evils. Being depressed meant weakness to her, and she tried to be anything but.

Lucrezia stepped back a little, somewhat frightened. She'd known mediums to be touchy when you pointed out that they weren't actually talking to spirits, but this was getting downright scary. And maybe she was telling the truth.
"I'm sorry," she stated hastily, rushing to explain, "Where I come from there's no such thing as a real medium. I'm still getting used to things around here. I'll take your word for it."

"Mmhmm," Grete let out slowly, trying to calm down a bit, "Thank you. I appreciate it."
She breathed in and out, and even looked upwards to blink a few times. Memories were never good. Especially these.
"So," Grete continued, trying to keep a pleasant conversation going, "I'm sorry about that. Have you been enjoying your stay at Cirque, though?" She asked, with a bit of a forced smile on her face.

"I'm liking it," Lucrezia answered honestly. "It's taking a little getting used to. It's nothing like anything I'm familiar with." She paused, studying Grete's body language. The situation seemed like it have been diffused.
"How long have you been with the cirque?" she asked.

Grete shrugged. She wasn't quite sure what to think of the complete one-eighty that their conversation had gotten into, but she didn't dwell on it.
"I've been around here for," Grete paused, and tried to remember when she joined, "A few months, I guess. Not too terribly long, though. It's a bit hectic. Between getting here, getting a place to stay. Then of course, there's meeting the higher-ups. That's always fun," She added with a smirk.

"So I've discovered," replied Lucrezia, laughing. "The first person I ran into was Aiden. Nice guy." She paused, allowing Grete time to wonder if that was sarcasm or not. "A little weird, though."
She tried to think if she'd met anyone else who qualified as a 'higher up' yet. She didn't think so.

A smile slid over Grete's face. She laughed, and then her smug smile returned.
"Aiden," she began, rolling her eyes a bit, "We really don't get along. At all. We just don't see eye to eye, I guess you could say. A difference of opinion. On many things."
"Met anyone else, though? The other new people? The ones tht I've met are quite nice."
