Mavis wandered around, his head and tail held down low to the ground. He didn't want to attract any attention, but his coat told another story. It wanted the lone adolescent to attract attention, whether Mavis wanted it or not. He was content with the fact that his other half, Dämon, had finally given up his struggle to gain the right to be the "eyes". Mavis knew that this was the first step in their friendship, but Dämon was still a little weary about the timid wolf. Mavis wanted to be free of his confinement with his father and find himself a mate, but Dämon wasn't so sure that a mate would be best for them.

Shaking his fur, a few strands of loose fur came loose. Despite him staying near the ocean a few months out of the year, his winter coat was coming in. The ground was already covered in a thin layer of snow, which quickly turned to slush as other wolves' paws ran over the frozen liquid. Shuddering as the cold began to set into his exposed nose and pawpads, Mavis glanced around nervously. 'What shall we do?' he asked his other half curiously. Dämon slowly crept forward and gazed at his good half with a weary look on his face. 'Whatever you like to do. I don't care,' came a soft response from the normally irritated Dämon. Mavis nodded his head and came to a stop. Dämon canted his head to one side and gazed out of Mavis' eyes to see why his good half had stopped. They both saw nothing around them, but sensed that something was coming towards them. Crouching down as one, Mavis/Dämon pricked their ears up and listened carefully to see who or what was coming towards them.

Heimdal didn't much care whether he was welcome or not, especially by his beloved sister. In fact, when she wanted him gone his very existence seemed ever so much more entertaining. But things had grown just a bit too solemn for full enjoyment as of late. His companions were thinking more then anything else, which, while surely an improvement from their usual, less cognitive ways, was boring. Besides that, he felt that they had to actually make their own decisions for once.

So he had ventured from their comfortable little shelter of woods and out into the great wide world. An odd time to chose to do so though, it was miserably cold out. Before too long he would see nothing but snow, so perhaps his mission for the day would be to find something not covered in fine white powder.

Or not. Someone was about, and it didn't smell like, say, Aleu, so perhaps a change of direction was in order. With a slight wag of his tail and a smug look he headed towards where he scented the other wolf, reminding himself to search for grass later.

Mavis sniffed the air delicately and glanced around again. He saw nothing nearby, but could sense that something, or someone, was indeed in the area. Mavis was about to wander away when his darker half stopped him. 'Let's see who it is,' Dämon suggested. Mavis shuddered slightly and glanced back at a bare spot on the ground. "But that someone might see us," he muttered under his breath. The bond that Mavis wanted to have with his darker half was quickly disappearing with each argument the two had. Dämon canted his head to one side and sighed.

'Please trust me. And don't talk aloud. It will scare away the game,' the darker half told the lighter half in a soft tone of voice. Mavis flicked an ear and pawed at the ground. Slowly, he nodded his head and began to follow the faint scent of the wolf he and his darker half picked up. It wasn't too far that he walked before he spotted the other wolf. Mavis was about to walk up to him when his darker half tugged him behind a tree. 'Let me take over. Trust me,' he told Mavis. The lighter half canted his head to one side before nodding his head, allowing Dämon to take control. Instantly, the darker half of the wolf took over the mind of Mavis and peeked his head out to spy on the older male wolf.

Heimdal continued his trek through the icy snow at a lax pace. After all, there was a chance the other wolf would run off, so he'd better give it time to get away if it wanted to. He crested a last slight hill before he spotted said wolf.

Now that was a strange creature.

Well, physically speaking at least. Hadn't seen colors like that in a long while.

Heimdal's usual expression graced his face in preparation to meet this new wolf. Lazy and self-satisfied, exactly how he felt.

"Hello there, lovely weather, ey?"

Dämon narrowed his eyes slightly as the other wolf said hello to him. He opened his mouth slightly, as if to say something back to Heimdal, but Mavis' voice nagged at him to be nice. Closing his maw, he shook his head slightly and slowly came out from behind the tree. Slowly, he took a few steps towards the other male, his head and tail still held down low to the ground.

"Weather could be better," he said in a low tone of voice to the other male. He quickly sat down on his haunches and studied the other male curiously. "What brings you out in this area at this time of the day?"

Heimdal shrugged his shoulders slightly as he continued forword to a comfortable distance from the other wolf before sitting laxly.

"Well, it could also be worse. I've certainly seen that to be true," he said with a slightly amused tone. Chances were this young wolf had never seen anything worse then the recent weather though.

"Oh, you know, this and that," he said vaguely, flicking an ear, "and yourself... oh, I don't believe I caught your name?"

Dämon flicked his orange-tipped ears as he watched the other male approach him, then sit down on the snow-covered ground. He held back a shudder as he calculated the distance between him and the other wolf. He disliked being too close to strangers, unlike Mavis.

Shaking his head, he turned his gaze towards the ground and began to paw at the frozen earth. "True. It could be a raging blizzard, but it is too early in Winter to be doing that," he muttered to Heimdal. Thumping his tail on the ground, he listened to Heimdal's last comment and he remained silent for a few tense moment. "Just roaming around, trying to find...someone." He lifted his gaze up to the other wolf as he narrowed his eyes again. "...Mavis." He held back another shudder as he said his lighter half's name. He didn't want to use it, but he didn't want the other wolf to know that there was two personalities inside the adolescent wolf's body.

"Ah, you never know with the weather though. Makes you appreciate the coat," he said, seeming light enough, but noted the slight change in the other wolves actions.

"I see. Well, seeing as how I have been through that before I must say good luck. If I see this Mavis I'll tell her you're looking for her."

Heimdal tested the gender-specific words with a slight tinge of amusement. If he was right it would be amusing. If he was wrong then doubly. Perhaps it would make him slightly less nervous if he was annoyed. Although he wasn't sure that nervous was the correct term for it.

Dämon nodded his head slightly at the other male's comment about having a thick coat. It did make surviving winter better, but during the summer, the patches of thick fur was rather annoying. He thumped his tail against his hindquarters and gazed around curiously, half hearing Heimdal's other statements. "Winter will be rather rough this year. I hope my father is preparing for it," he commented under his breath, not caring about the other comment the other male had made.

"I hope I find Mavis, too," he said to the other wolf, bobbing his head in respect to Heimdal. He didn't want to make any comments that Mavis was indeed his "other half" but at the same time Dämon wanted to "find" Mavis and learn more about the meek adolescent he shared bodies with. Flicking his tail, he gazed at the other male to see what he was going to do.
