Amaya had no idea it was even Thanksgiving. All she knew what that it was nearing Christmas, a holiday she had chosen to loathe here on Hell Island. She wondered what kind of gag gift she'd get this year...

As she got dressed and stepped out onto her front patio and something very strange caught her yellow and brown gaze. Two turkeys with tags hooked to their wings strutted along outside her duplex pecking at the ground. She stared for a few moments before sighing.

"It's Thanksgiving, isn't it?" Poor turkeys.

The teen walked back into her duplex and grabbed some left over veggies and water, putting the water into a dish before walking outside. She set the food on the ground near both of them and watched them start to peck away.

She stared at them for a moment before sitting down in front of them, a long hand reaching out to pet down their soft feathers. If they stayed out here they were bound to get eaten... which was probably the lab's intentions.

Awen, with her plate of food still in hand, was making her way towards the lake when she spotted the green girl walking from her duplex with a dish of water and some veggies. Tilting her head as the bowl was set down and a hand went to stroke the birds Awen sighed.

Of course there would be some islanders who would do this. Awen had herself thought of saving at least the turkey with her duplex number--er well her old duplex number as she hadn't seen any with SD1 on it or any other special duplex number.

She was of course, glad to see an old friend.... though she had changed drastically.

"Amaya!" She called and started towards her duplex. "Long time no see."

The lizard girl hadn't noticed Awen until her name was shouted; her hearing ability having gone down substantially. Blinking, she turned her head around and cocked it to the side to spot someone who she hadn't seen in... months? She couldn't even remember if Awen had seen her... complete.

But regardless she gave her friend a little reptilian smile and headbobbed, only speaking once the older girl got closer. "Hi Awen." She said, her voice barely above a whisper. She was rather surprised to see that she hadn't changed since the last time they met. "Where've you been?"

She stayed crouched down by the two fat, flightless birds to pet them. She had always wanted a pet.

"Ah..." Awen crouched down to give the other turkey a little attention too and gave an awkward smile. "Not entirely sure to be honest. Somewhere in the labs...I think? Appearently there were complications.. haven't figured what they were haven't had the nerve to contact the labs.... I've been out since mid August I think... kind of a shock not to remember the last three months of your life." She shook her head with a chuckle and snatched her corn on the cob munching on it some.

Glancing up and down Amaya for a closer inspection she smiled. "I guess you don't have anymore changes then? I mean unless things have changed in the past while I don't think Colche or Pyroth have changed since their forth?" Her brow drew in concerned. "But what happened to your voice? Are you sick?"

Amaya nodded slowly up and down as she filled her in. At least Awen was safe and not sick anymore. Though at the swerve in topic she frowned and looked down. Talking about her changes now were harder than they had been when she changed the first time... Because now she knew this was where it ended. This was how she was going to stay for the rest of her life.

"Ah... yeah. I'm done." She said sadly, staring at the turkey in front of her. The girl then swallowed and hesitantly reached up to her throat, but didn't touch it. Instead her hand fell back ontop of the white dress that covered her lap. "It's been like this since..." She trailed off. "... Yeah."

"Oh... I see. Sorry to hear it hun..." She reached over and set a webbed hand ontop of the scaley one of her friend. "But hey, I think you still look very pretty." Switching from her soft comforting tone Awen tried to get the convorsation back to other things And that dress is so nice! New is it?"

"What do you think of this whole loose turkey thing?" She pat the backs of each turkey in turn. "Getting a couple new pets, I assume?"

At that the girl smiled. She didn't hear that often or... ever, really. Most of the time people avoided it or just didn't say anything. Everytime she looked in the mirror it was like she thought less and less of herself as the days went by. It didn't help that she knew (or rather assumed) that her looks were the reason Alec didn't like her.

"Yeah." She said, having not worn this one as much as her others. Amaya tried not to think of how dresses were the only thing she could wear, or her real reason for getting them - being mistaken for a guy too many times.

Her head bobbed up and down a few times in sucession. "I don't wanna keep 'em out here, someone or something'll eat 'em." She said, still petting them as they pecked at the old vegtables.

It was nice to see Amaya smile. Every time Awen had seen the girl since she started changing the manta couldn't recall seeing a smile smirk or grin grace the lips of the lizard.

To Awen mistaking Amaya for a guy was proposterous, but perhaps she'd been around the island too much, or known the girl for too long to make that mistake....

The blue headed girl nodded slowly. "Probably should take them inside then, at some point.... but that might get rather uncomfortable for you to have them in there." She made and awkward yet thoughtful face as she tried to reason a way around the turkey mess in Amaya's duplex. Her own was out of the question, the dumb things would probably drown themselves by falling into the pool and not being able to get out

"I think I'm gonna tie them up outside and bring 'em in at night. It'll still be kinda messy, but it's not like cleaning up after them will be much of a hassle. Not much else to do." Amaya gave another little smile. Maybe having something to look after would make her a little happier.

Awen nodded and smiles brightly. "That sounds like a plan actually." She suddenly grinned. "Oh! By the way, I'm not in my old duplex anymore. I've been moved over to Special Duplex #1, it's part of the cluster of duplexes by the lake... The majority of it is a big pool connected to the lake, pretty neat actually."

"Special Duplex number one?" Amaya repeated, looking up at her. She raised a nonexistant brow. "A pool? But... how is that a duplex?" She asked, confused. "Does it still have a bed and stuff?"

Awen grinned a little bit. "Well, there's a dry part with my bathroom, table chairs and all my video games, dresser and such.... But I haven't really slept in a bed since my last change..." Awen scratched oner her eye idley. "I've been pretty much sleeping in a tank for the past while... this isjust lots more comfortable."

"Ohhh..." Amaya said, yellow eyes looking up at her. Her head cocked to the side sharply in reptilian fashion to look back at the two fat turkeys. Alec would probably have to live in one of them soon... she frowned and sighed.

For now she didn't mention him. She hopped he was okay...

Awen tilted her head a bit at the frown. "Is everything alright Amaya?" She looked down at the turkey were the reptile had last looked. "Ah, don't worry about the rest of them.... not much worse than back home on Thanksgiving you know..."

"No... it's not them I'm worried about." Amaya said as she stood up, her five-foot-long tail trailing and sliding behind her to keep her balanced. "It's just... I know someone who's becoming a shark. He lost his legs already."

Yellow gaze traveled back to Awen. "I'm scared he's gonna be stuck in a tank forever like a fish. If he is than... I don't know what to do." She trailed off, looking just as sad as before. It seemed the girl was rarely happy.
