I can't really pick one..because it depends on what I'm trying to achieve with the piece of work...for example: if I'm drawing something like the human figure, I like to use pencil to draw an accurate outline, and then use charcoal and chalk to add shadows and highlights, and also use the tone of the paper itself to create a midtone. If I want to achieve something abstract I use paint, because I like to use it thickly and work quickly with it too, and I like to work on canvas.

i agree with shadow on this one: it really depends on what i'm trying to do. but in general, i'm a big fan of ballpoint pen, pen and ink, pencil, and chalk pastels (though i'm awful with pastels, erg!)

My favorite thing to paint on is a big piece of old masonite board. I love how worn down it can look, it has so much personality. And then I have some cheap acrylics I stole from my school I enjoy. They dry really slow so I don't need to water them down. My teacher hates them because when rewetted they become, well, wet again. I also enjoy my prismacolor markers, though.

Markers!!! heart Markers are love.
For years, I only used coloured pencils. Still love em.
Actual paints are used less rarely.
While we're here... stuff I HATE using: chalk, pastel, and conte... ick. Just not fun for me.

Kristal Lee While we're here... stuff I HATE using: chalk, pastel, and conte... ick. Just not fun for me. how in the wolrd can you hate chalks? so expressive, so challenging, so textured! but i guess it's okay, i hate using markers [sometimes]. they just don't work for me.

I prefer Pen and ink, but when it comes to doing other things, then it doesn't matter to me, I try to use all the mediums, so technically, my answer was useless...

mainly the traditional media. I like working in Illustrator/Poser/Photoshop, but only for touchups. I get impatient with it.
I generally work with: *graphite *ink *charcoals *markers *colored pencils *acrylic *watercolor *pastels *crayons *paint *clay *wood *cloths
