((ORP! x3 Everyone's welcome to join, as long as they don't eat Chachili's babies. <3 Only mellow creatures, please. xD Chachili can't really defend herself... she's giving birth. OwO ^w^ )) It was dawn. The grass was slightly wet with dew, and the strong scent of rain and moist soil was in the air. It had been sprinkling only moments beforehand... though, now, the rain was beginning to thin. The morning was a cool one, and it was cooler than most. The sun had not yet risen, and the birds were only starting to sing their welcome songs to the morning.
But the birds were not the only creatures out and about. The sound of hooves clicking against the earth could be heard, if one had been listening close enough.
"Please, no," a grey klipspringer winced, dragging her swollen body towards the higher grasses, her deep blue eyes wet with fear, "Not again! Never again! Oh, please, no..."
The little preybeast gave a panicked whistle as pain shot through her. Her body suddenly ached, and her legs gave out from beneath her. Exhausted, and in incredible agony, Chachili collapsed onto the ground, and let out a pained scream as she realised what was about to come.
"No!" she shrieked, her heart pounding with fear.
She couldn't become a mother. Not again.
She'd already cast away her other children. How could she live to face these next ones? How could she watch her now-coming children grow, without remembering the little fawns before them that she had left behind?
As another jolt of pain coursed through her, Chachili lay still and lowered her head. She felt ashamed. Ashamed that she'd let this happen again. She was going to give birth to more fawns that she didn't want. Well, not 'didn't want'. She would love them. But... could she keep them? She couldn't, could she?
It was just a vicious circle, wasn't it?

Xx'ami-da trudged through the high grasses to escape the sun. He was wandering aimlessly. He'd go back to his pack later.
Huffing, he pushed farther though the grasses. His ears perked up at a shrill whistle.
Klipspringer?
He curiously walked towards the sound. The creatures shrill wails where giving it away. He was wondering why it was doing as such.
"Crazy Preybeast..." he mumbled. He pushed through the grass to the place where a Klips lay. She looked familiar.
He did know her. He just... couldn't recall her name.

Jibanza had also heard the sounds. She had, all day, been tracking X. His scent had come to her as she was on a patrol, and she had recognised it immediately.
And so, she'd tried to find him. All day, she'd been one pawstep away from him, close but never really catching sight of the hyena.
She'd grown, and had lost her puppy-fat, and had become lean and skinny. Still, she hoped that X would recognise her, if she happened to find him. Her fur was still the same hue, and her scent still held it's earthy smell.
And then, she heard it. The cry. A creature was in pain... and soon enough, the smell of fresh blood hit the air. Maybe someone was out hunting? Maybe X was, himself, hunting? Her mouth watered.
...... ........ .......
Chachili, however, was not as relaxed as Jibanza. Sweating, and in terrible pain, she groaned.
Then, came the scent of a predator. Chachili panicked. It was beside her, whatever it was, and she couldn't quite see it's face.
"Get lost," she managed to hiss, before crumbling up into a ball, pained.
She hadn't recognised the hyena yet. She was lost, and her mind was set on something else.
They're coming...

"You are a crazy preybeast," Xx'ami-da shook his head lightly.
He sat down anyways. He could quite place the Klips' name.
"You know. If you keep shrilling, someone that might actually want to eat you will come this way you know," X said calmly, disregarding the Klips' hiss of warning.
Smelling the air lightly, X could smell Ban. She'd come. He knew that she would come towards him, so he dind't move.

"I... can't help it," Chachili snapped, gasping for breath as the all-too familiar cramps seized up her body once again, "Oh, just... shut it, you!"
Then, her eyes widened. That... hyena! She'd met him before, somewhere. She knew his face, and the strangely shapeed scar on his chest.
"You!"
Chachili relaxed. At least, she trusted this one not to eat her.
Maybe she wasn't in danger, after all...
... . .. ... . . .. . . .. . . .. . . . . . .
Jibanza stood, eyes bright, at the spectacle laid out before her. Her old friend, 'X' (the name she knew him by), was there... and he, like her, had grown since the last time they'd met. But then... there was something else... the aroma of fresh blood was spilling from the prey animal that was on the floor, and it seemed to be writhing in agony. It's panic whistles were shrill, and Jibanza's ears hurt.
She, too, had met this animal somewhere before... but the scent of the blood confused her, and her mouth began to water. She'd not caught her first large preybeast yet... sure, she'd caught a few rabbits in her youth, but she wanted something more, and her eyes clouded over.
"Prey..." she whispered, her voice a hiss, and crouched low on her haunches, ready to attack the klipspringer, unaware that it was actually about to give birth to new life.

X almost laughed.
Yes. He knew this preybeast from somewhere. When he had met with ban the second time, she had stopped the wild dog from getting stung by a scorpion.
He could see her relax, and he smiled. The sent of blood clouded his sent. The blood seemed it would attract unwanted guest's to the prey animal.
X hadn't noticed how close Jibanza had come to them. He was unaware that she would attack the preybeast either.
((Gawd... So short ;; ))

Chachili lowered her head, and began to huff. Yes, something was coming. She could feel the cramps again, but the pain faded as the beautiful moment came.
Chachili's body gave a shudder, and the klipspringer gritted her teeth as she felt her young pass out, tumbling into a new world. Her eyes widened... and she stared at the little one that lay before her, now. It flopped onto the grass, bloody and wet, but Chachili could see it clearly... grey, with purple melting into it's fur.
"A... girl..." she breathed, her heart pounding. Was this the end? Was this her next baby? But more cramps told her that it was far from the finish.
"Another?!" she groaned. She didn't even have time to look upon her newborn with a mother's love. No. Another one was soon to arrive.
...........................................................................................
Jibanza was salivating, now. The scent of blood was getting to her, and she felt the strong lust for blood take over her.
So hungry, she thought, willing herself to strike, I'm just going to take one bite...
She would, if she caught and killed the beast, share the meal with X. It would be a great way to impress and catch up with her old friend over a meal. Crouching now, muscles tight and ready, Jibanza readied herself for the final strike.
She didn't notice the birth take place. She didn't notice the proud gleam in Chachili's eyes as a new life was born.
Jibanza leapt, jaws gaping wide, ready for the kill.

X stared in confusion. How could he have been so stupid as to not know that the Klipsringer was giving birth?!
Suddenly! (Dun Dun Dun :shot: Sorreh... ^^; )
Xx'ami-da saw a blur of sand colored fur go though the air, and he dashed to intercept it from the birthing prey animal. No creature as young as a new born should have to live it's life alone.
Like Him. And Like Many Others.

Jibanza, as she was thrown to the floor, gave a cry of frustration. It seemed that something had pinned her down, knocked her off course... stopped her from getting to her target. She thrashed around, wildly, trying to get loose of her captor's strong grip. She wrestled, and squirmed.... and then, her eyes widened.
"X..." she breathed, and she suddenly snapped out of it. The old, friendly Ban was back, replacing the starved carnivore that had only moments before been reaching for the other creature's throat.
"Wh... why'd you stop me?" she got to her paws, and narrowed her eyes. She still hadn't noticed who the klipspringer actually was, nor that a birthing was taking place.
She had smelt the blood, and felt so hungry...

"X almost growled before he realized who the sand colored blur was.
"You can't Kill her..." he stated. "She has just brought a new life into this world..." He paused. He pulled himself off of the wild dog. She seemed bigger now.
"I think they both have a right to live. And if your hungry, we can go hunt soon..." he said.

The little wild dog blushed, and looked down to the floor.
"But she's... not..." she looked, more closely this time, to see the preybeast on the floor. Sure enough, she was in labour... and Jibanza stepped back, in awe, "Ah... I'm... I'm sorry. I almost..."
And she knew this animal, too. What had she almost done? Jibanza was horrified.
Chachili, turning her head, gave a weak chuckle.
"So the hyena came in handy after all, huh?" she sighed, sweat dripping down her brow, "Thanks for that, hyena. It was... urrghh-" She could feel it. Another was coming.
Chachili was having twins. Again.

X nodded. If he hadn't been there, the prey animal would have been dead. He shuddered lightly at the thought. But... it happened. That was life.
"It's alright... No one got hurt... Unless I crushed you," he said.
The 'hyena' listened to the words of the Klipspringer. He nodded at her gratitude.

The grey klipspringer shuddered again. She gave a great heave, and felt suddenly at ease as the small fawn flopped out, and onto the moist soil below. It was beautiful, as was the first, and looked a lot like it's elder twin. It's legs were striped with purple, and Chachili felt hot pride burn within her.
The rain had stopped.
Chachili, weak with relief, turned and nudged her newborns softly. Her eyes widened with horror as she looked at them, and saw Kukuru and Makuu in their place. Then, she blinked, and her first fawns were gone. The purple twins were back... and they were girls. Two twin girls.
Two twin girls to replace two twin boys.
Chachili shook the thought from her head. No. These were not replacements. She would make sure these fawns were safe, and she would care for them. Love them. They would not suffer the same fate as her previous litter, she would see to that.
"Pura," she nudged the first, whispering it's name fondly. Then, she turned to the second, and licked it, gently.
"Mkimya."
Jibanza looked on, in shock. So this was what it was like to give birth, to become a mother... it was beautiful, but frightening.

X looked on. He was in awe at the small fawns. The looed so small. Fragile and Helpless looking. He smiled; glad to help out.
Mkimya, brought into the world under the eyes of allies, nuzzled into her mother's fur by instinct. Safe. Protection. Mother.
New things where unclear to the newborn's mind.
Other presences Clouded her mind, but she knew she was safe. Instinct

Pura wrinkled her tiny muzzle and sneezed, wriggling tiny unsteady legs as she made a concentrated effort to stand on them. Failing triumphantly, the tiny fawn settled for just sitting awkwardly on her little rump, looking confused. Everything was so big...
