Follow the river in the Pride Lands, it will take you there They said, the family of waterbucks. The large lion knew them, helped them once before when their buck was lost out in the Southlands. The lion and his father had helped them out, it was fortunate that he met them again. For the past three hours, the male had been following the river down to the ocean. He had his reasons to go there, it just needed to be done.

First he had to find the Pride Lands, with the help of the Prince of Maziko, he was able to. But before he could proceed with going to Pride Rock he had to take care of some of his own personal business and the shore was the perfect place to find it.

Golden blur ran across the silver green grass, the moon shining down upon his broad back. The air was warm and thick, heavy with the scent of the ocean breeze. It was close, not to far now. He could already smell the salty water, nose flaring. He wanted to feel the soft sand under his paws, the open sky over the endless sea. The day his father had brought the male to the shore, it was love at first sight in a way. He loved everything about the beach; the sand, the water, the freedom. He had to be there, he wanted to live there. It was his place, he knew it deep down that is where he had to be.

As soon as his massive paws touched the grains of sand, he let himself relax after a long, heavy exhale. He had nothing to hide here, no one to hide from. He can finally relax and let himself live freely without that fear of others knowing, seeing. Maybe Duhushi and that other male Ger knew, they were safe. But that was it, no more. He forgot why he even showed him his secret to begin with. With another sigh he started down the shore, there had to a cove of some sort where he can settle himself into, but his attention was more on the sea, the sky, and the big round moon.

"Sorry, Dad...Mom, I can't join that pride..."

Lew had woken slow and groggy. It had been sometime since her time with Jaddis but she was still so tired from that night. Her blue fur shimmered under the surface of the water as she cleaned her paws of loose sand. The darkness, where her ship took berth, was deep and fluid as if something was constantly dripping ink into her world. A long and gurggling yawn rattled through herslender frame.

Tail swishing behind her, Lew dipped into the hull of the ship, twisting through the stairwell to the Captain's chambers. The large bed was covered with thick, if water logged, pillows which were frayed of their coverings by her constantly snapping shells but this made it no less magnificent. Of course no one would have looked at the bed for the floor was much more inviting. Gold coins littered the wooden floor in piles, giving everything a yellow glow even in the dim light. Jewels of every color were strewn about and spilled from her chest. It overflowed with priceless treasures that were left behind by the souls of those humans who strayed too close. No one would ever settle on her beach without facing her wraith.

With the sight of her cabin inprinted in her mind, the Goddess departed. The moonlight grew closer and closer, until the golden clip on her braid beganlighting her path. In an instant, she saw him or at least...his shadow. Lewatle knew that her form wasn't pleasing to any. She was about to retreat back to her lair when a thought came to her mind and he fur began to sink into red. With all of her might, Lew forced a splash from her illusioned body, crawling onto the sand with a sputter and a cough.

Now liquid blue eyes frantically searched the beach, still coughing and trembling lightly. Red fur blazed like fire even with only the moon. Her long black braid was wrapped gracefully along her neck ans curled around cream tipped paws. "Hello?..."

Trig's ears perked up and his body nearly jumped up. Quickly, he gathered himself up and turned around a bit. His eyes softened when he saw a creature of brilliant colors. A red lioness with eyes that matched the sea under the burning sky. A long black braid curled around her and she was approaching him. She was an image of the beach and she was quite the beauty too. Trig gulped a bit and sat there watching her move closer. He sort of wished she did not move to him. He could talk from there, he could see her from there, he could admire her from there, but why was she getting closer.

"H-Hello..."

He called back to her with a slight smile. He came here seeking a place to live away from the mass population and prides and now he comes across a female here? Was there a Pride here or something? Were there others around here? Great, this wasn't gonna work for him if there were a lot of other lions around here. Trig slowly got up and moved a bit before sitting himself down again. It may seemed rude, but Trig had his reasons to. His golden fur rippled over the muscles of his tall body, his massive paws sank into the grains of sand under him. There was nowhere to hide from this female, nowhere at all. He could never hide, he could hide nothing, his entire body was opened up to the world. He was cursed to be this and now he had to live it.

"S-so, w-what brings you here?"

He asked lamely lacing his paws the best he could to cover himself. There were some things no one should know about about him. There are somethings that should not be known but are. Trig was not just hiding his secret...he was hiding himself.

The Goddess, in disguised, wavered on her paws. It was true that she had trouble getting back onto her feet after being in the water for days or sometimes weeks at a time but it certainly wasn't this bad. Claws dug into the sand to keep her body from toppling over. The golden necklace, that acted as her shells, jingled with every movement she made. The rubies and emeralds glowed in the moonlight, making her blue eyes look sliver in the starlight.

She had never seen this male before. he did not have great wings like the starvation god nor the shimmering pelt of Bahari. It was truely a mortal. A big one at that. She realized that he even rivalled her size even in her normal state considering that the red pelted firekin had been considerably larger. The beach was her home and always would be even if she needed the water to survive. Anyone who wished to live there would be subjected to horrors of unimaginable force. Again, her tall body shivered. Being out of the water took some getting used to and the wind ruffling her fur wasn't helping but, being a Goddess, she quickly shook off the growing cold.

"What brings me here?" The watery Goddess would have scoffed had she not been trying to seem homely and sweet. "I live here so I direct that question back to you."

Tail flicking lighty, Lew watched the massive male closely, If he was trying to learn her secret then he was doing a very bad job.

Trig took a breath as he watched her move rather awkwardly. Forgetting himself, he rose to his feet and took a step or two closer to this female. He had seen this color before in many places, a pride to the north had the majority. He took a breath and moved boldly, forgetting his secret, his curse, right now, he was more concerned for the female before him. The massive lion was only a few feet from her able to get a better look at her.

She was gorgeous to say the lease. Wonderful, sleek, rather wet, burning red pelt complimented by a nice shade of a pale beige. Lucid blue eyes glowing, shining, standing out on her face. Around her neck, partially covered by her band of hair twisted into a braid, was a magnificent necklace adorned by gems and jewels of various colors. An image of the setting sun; the burning sky, the liquid blue sea, the pale sands on the shore, and the many wonders lost deep under it's flowing waves.

"Are you alright...?" The male asked, offering his paw to her. He was taught throughout his life to always put himself before others, worry about oneself later. Give oneself up to save the lives of other or at least give them the chance to live their life. Trig had lived a nice life, he would have no regret dying to help another. He had traveled all over the savanna, to the Pride Lands, to the Elephant Graveyard, to the desert, to the jungles, to unclaimed territories, and now here. He had already seen so many, met many, and thought of many. He had a nice fulfilled life, now he just wanted to be on his own.

"My name is Trig, I suppose you have your right to ask that question to a stranger like me. I came here to find a nice cove to live in, rather unorthodox, but I have my reasons to be out here." The mortal smiled softly, he pose no harm to her. He only hoped she understood that too. "May a gentleman offer his aid in helping you to your paws, Miss?"

Lew gave a soft moan as she stumbled over herself. Of course she wasn't really so clumsy, she just wanted the male to think that she was weary from travels. Her jewels jingled loudly as her cream tipped paws caught her body just in time before it shifted too much. Bright eyes looked at the massive lion.

He was enormous to say the least. In the moonlight he shone blue but with her eyes, that were so adjusted to dark, Lew could see that brilliant golden pelt. The braid curled seemingly on it's own around her leg. It was a living creature within itself even if it had first grown from her rather thick neck. The golden clip seemed to come alive as well. The thick band wove slowly higher through the mass that was her hair before settling some lengths of the braid, letting dark locks fall from it's clutches. Dark talons gently ran through that suprisingly long art of loose black before she slowly made her way forward.

"Help? I don't need help." She obviously didn't but this lion wouldn't leave her alone if her thought that she was seriously in trouble. Mortals were so fun to play with. Every muscle in her frame shivered as she moved closer, eyes drooping slightly. "Trig?..." She didn't think it wise to tell him her name quite yet so she kept to his questions instead of hers.

Trig just gave a reluctant smile and withdrew his paw. At least the female was alright and not too hurt. Falling down was a common thing among living things, birds would sometime fall from the sky and quickly get back up, and leggers would simply trip over themselves from time to time. Actually, Trig's bloodline had a habit of being clumsy themselves. His father often got distracted and tripped when he walks, sometimes Trig does the same. Trig however has another clumsy trait, he often times stumble over himself when hiding himself, call it his unique.

"I am glad you are alright."

He gave a small, soft smile and sat down again, lacing his paws out of habit. As he opened his eyes again, he noticed that the lock around her neck slipped down. It was probably the force of the fall that undid the knot that kept it back or something. When Trig realized his eyes were no longer on Lewe's mug, he moved it back to be polite. However, when he did, he noticed the black strands move again. ....did they? No, just a night illusion from the sand and darkness.

The massive male smiled again when she called his name in what sounded like a whisper. It did not matter that she had whispered it, she spoke it is what that was needed to make him smile. Then again, he smiled a lot to comfort the other even if he was dying inside. Once he had smiled through a broken leg after a brawl with a group of hyenas to defend a lost pup of the same species. He smiled to the pup even through his pain to assure the pup was safe and that he was alright. He had always put others before him, he did not mind it.

"Yes?"

he replied softly.

Lew took a slow and rather hard intake of breath. Her eyelids flickered as she exhald, a soft fog surrounded her muzzle from her cold breath hitting the air. Black nose wrinkling lightly, the watery goddess finally liffted her head to him. Her braid shifted over her shoulder as it wound itself around her leg. No one would know that live creatures upon her head were pulling, yanking, weaving her mass of hair to their will. Every muscle in her body shivered at the feel of her braid against her side. The only thing about her illusion is that it was complete. even her senses and feelings had wormed their way back, making her feel odd and sensitive.

The Goddess had never been clumsy. She had a grace that even the smaller cats would admire. The sand had made her light and good on her feet. That was probably the reason why she was able to catch herself during her mock fegining. Cream toes digging into the sand, Lew smiled at thee male.

"What? All I did was say your name."

He seemed a bit overly polite. Of course, many were polite just to have their way with females that they meet on their travels. She didn't want to feel so shallow and self centered but the goddess was quite beautiful in her illusion. The sleek red fur, muscled yet smooth frame had sent many pleasure seakers to their grizzly end.

"Is there something you want?"

Trig smiled at her softly. With a sniff, he replied.

"Well, you smell strongly of the ocean so I would assume you are native to this area, correct? That would mean you must've been up and down these shores plenty of times to possibly know of a den or a cove that one such as myself may occupy?"

He asked honestly with a slight smirk. Suddenly he realized that what she was speaking of was not exactly as he thought it. Well, she was a female, they were alone, and he was this big of size. Drawing lines, he came to possibly her conclusion.

"Wait? What? Oh no! I'd never do that to you! I couldn't I- I mean- Uh..."

Trig stammered as he spoke, unable to finish his sentence completely. He had never planned to mate, ever at all. His size and secrets were what prevented him from getting close to anyone, that is why this idea of his, living on the beach, would keep him away from everyone else. If he had loved, they must know his secret before they could call themselves friends alone, imagine the difficult path to reach a couple and then mates. If he had a mate, it would be her and her alone, no other. Or at least, that is what he believed.

"I-I digress, forgive me." He bowed, " C-could you show me to any den or cove you may know of?"

Lew scoffed to herself at the male's mention of a cave. No one was aloud here especially if they wanted to stay. She tried to keep a smile on her maw when she really just wanted to drop her illusion and drag him into the sea. A soft but uninterpretable sigh escaped her lips.

"I don't know of a cove you coulde occupy. They are all taken."

There weren't any coves that bordered the sand anyway. He would need to walk a bit before he found a suitable one but of course the Goddess was in no mood to take him there herself. Her eyebrow twitched at his words. What exactly was he thinking she was asking? How inexplicably rude. Her talons dug into the sand but to him it would most likely look like she was stabalizing herself again.

"Excuse me?..."

Her tone dropped considerably and the waves slowly rose to her back paws. No male would actually say that to her and walked off the beach alive.

"i suggest you look for your own den...alone."

Trig flinched lightly looking at her, his fur turning brighter from embarrassment. He shook his head sternly and looked back to her.

"I'm sorry, I did not mean it like that. I just assumed you were clumping me with others that you might've met. You may, but I assure you that I would never touch you. I'd chew off my own paw before then. Please, Miss, believe me when I say I pose no harm against you nor this shore."

He pleaded, the best he could do. With a bit of a sigh, he sat down on his haunches and returned his gaze to her. He had a feeling she was starting to disapprove of his presence here. What way can he show her that she could trust him? He did not want to make a bad impression, he wanted to at least make an acquaintance. Dipping his head slightly,

"Sorry..."

He apologized again, bring his head back. Looking up and down the shore he saw no one. Maybe there isn't anyone else around. Then his eyes turned to the sea, noticing the tide coming in. Instinctively, he reached out to the female and pulled her to his side a bit.

"Careful, there. Wet fur isn't the best to sleep in unless you are already sleeping in a wet place to begin with."

The male chuckled jokingly. He had slept with wet fur once, well, not really slept but more of staying up all night uncomfortable in his fur. Taking another deep breath, Trig rose to his feet.

"I would still like you to come with me."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 12, 2006 4:37 pm

Lew rolled her eyes faintly. Not like the others? He certainly hadn't show any quality that was different from all the other males besides his vobaulary and politeness. Of course, many males were polite in their own way just to get what they wanted. The Godess had been quite brutal after their advances. Many never returned to the shore; by banishment or her realm, she would never tell.

'Why am I supposed to believe you?" She sighed softly before shaking her head. "Whatever."

She definately wasn't worried if he tried something. Even with his size, there was no way he could take advantage of a goddess. Blue eyes closed for a moment as she tried to make heads or tails of the whole situation. She wanted to throww him into the sea and be done with him but part of her knew that it wouldn't be right unless he directly harmed her. It didn't seem like he wanted to hurt anyone really. Alterior motives aside, Lew smiled. If he attacked her then he would be killed instantly whther by her fangs or the sea's. There wasn't anyone else around by what her eyes and senses could see so who would know that this lion was lost?

His touch brought a hiss to her maw. The sea wasn't a threat to her in any way shape and form.

"Wet fur never hurt anyone." I do. SHe chukled quietly to herself. She was the only thing with wet fur that Trig needed to worry about on these shores.

Trig smiled to her and got up, walked past her, and down shore. The stretch of beach was relatively large compared when he first came. Then again, he did not come from the Pride Lands when he did. He could remember it, but it was much further south. The entire shore was as deserted as the one they were on now. Why was this female here? He turned back to her and quirked a brow discreetly. What was a Firekin doing near water to begin with? Maybe she was lost. However, the way she smelt, the way she acted, and what she had said, it was evident that she was an inhabitant here.

"Miss? Forgive me for asking, maybe it might've slipped over me, but I never seemed to have caught your name."

He asked relatively loudly, enough for the female to hear. He posed no threat. But perhaps...she could be someone whom she could call a 'friend'. It was rare for him to consider anyone as a friend. Duhushi, the prince of the Maziko and Ger, a rogue lion as it would seem, were two. But that was it. They were his only two friends that he had. No one else has ever gotten close enough to him to actually get to know him. At first glance, he was a monster. On a second, he was a freak. With those alone, no animal would dare approach him seeking friendship or more. Trig often had to come to the distress to offer his help which worked ninety percent of the time.

"I guess, wet fur may not hurt too much. I guess it depends if one has ever slept in it before. Heh, I guess I can classify this as a fail attempt at a conversation? Want to move onto another topic?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2006 3:49 pm

Lew watched him walk away. she probably would have killed any other male who strayed to close to her let alone touych her but she supposed that he really was just a wanderer. The Goddess didn't trust him fully yet but she figured that he wouldn't be of much harm especially if she could easily take him. Sirens were hard to deal with even for a strong one. His awkward glance finally broke her out of her thoughts.

Would she actually tell him her name? She thought a moment. No one had probably heard her full name in quite sometime. Maybe she was a legend in places. Blue eyes closed as she mulled her name around in her head. "Lew..."

She felt odd telling someone that her name was actually Lew but this was a full illusion and a illusioned name was definately in order. Sometime later she would maybe tell him but not until he gained her full trust. No one inhabited this beach or at least, not for any length of time without coming face to face with her in one of her moments.

"Whatever you say..." She was almost bored with the male before her. Almost too well spoken in her eyes.

He kept on moving along, looking up into the sky thinking about everything. It was funny, Lew. Such a short name, it must've been a shortened long name. Like how Duhu's was short for his full name. Trig and the lion named Ger were both fortunate that their short names, if they had any, was their full name. But Lew sounded rather amusing.

"Lew, huh? It's a nice name, soft, short, and sweet."

He chuckled and kept on walking he moved slowly to keep pace with the Firekin female behind him. He knew any rogue female would be weary of any male that was wandering by. Especially if they towered as high as he did. He had known a female once that had that too...that female was his mother. A Pride Lander whom fell for a rogue. He was the product of that concuction however....he was told there was another. He cared not too much about that 'other' and frankly, he did not want to. If there was another, where'd he been? The male left it to destiny for their paths to meet again.

"So, Lew, tell me. You live out here by yourself? Must get lonely, huh? Tell me more about you."

The male stopped and turned back to her. He was a polite one. His behavior and actions were the whim of another. If they wanted him to leave, if the feeling was strong enough, then he would. If they wanted him to hurt someone, for good reason, he would. If they wanted him to protect them, he would. He has yet to refuse any proposal, and he did not plan to stop any time soon.

The mortal smiled to the red furred female as she moved about. She was a true beauty, the best he has seen thus far. If it weren't for his morals and his secret, he'd feel much more comfortable talking to her. He feared to get connected to her, he feared what she'd think of him if she knew about it. Raised to believe to love only one and no other and remain loyal to them was a male's duty to their counterpart. But who'd want him?
