Why, oh why did the bird have to still be growing? Alright yes, Haruki knew that he couldn't stay little forever. He didn'tmind that. It was the clothes shopping that pained him so. He didn't like being in malls much to begin with, but this was worse...
This was Madeline's territory. Or at least he thought that much.
Pink everywhere, with on tall red-head in black and white standing among it. Frills, ribbons, and gaudy things he liked to think didn't exist surrounded him. All for what? Revon's latest shopping spree.
Children were a lot of trouble.
"Th-this one?" The boy mumbled holding up a plaited skirt that had a set of pink ribbon on each side. It'd likely reach down to about his knees. Maybe a bit shorter. It was obvious to Revon that Haruki was avoiding looking at things as much as possible. Which made shopping very hard.
All he could do was something hand things to the man to hold for the fitting room(Madeline had taught him the wonder of that) and keep looking.
The saying that men bought things applied to Haruki. The saying that women shopped definitely applied to Revon. Even if he was a boy.
"What ab-bout this?" He'd gotten more confident about speaking around his keeper obviously. Which made this a bit easier.
Haruki could only hope that none of his students, or anyone who knew him showed up. Not when he had pink dresses, leggings, knee high socks, and god only knew what else Revon had him carrying in his arms. He just had to pray.

"--an' socks!"
Rapier winced visibly at her daughters voice, leaning down to haul the child up into her arms. Cleo wriggled in the grasp, whining a little and casting Rapier a pout.
"Mam, whyya grabbin' me? Wanna ge' some socks!"
At least she had gotten better at speaking. The Fallen glared at her daughter in mild exhasperation, the anger sliding away when the girl continued to smile and look at her ernestly. Like a puppy. She couldn't kick a puppy.
"You have too many socks already, Cleo." She said, voice as low as possible. "You need some jeans - sneakers or something. You keep running around and scraping up your knee and Tyven keep getting angry."
"Nuh-uh. Jeans're ugly." The goldcrest pushed at her mother writhing and wriggling until she was down - and then she was off. Around the racks of clothing and towards her goal: girls clothing. Little feet pattered on the ground as the pretty colors and short skirts came closer and closer and closer until-- "GIAN'REDHEAD!"
And she dove for the nearest rack to hide behind, her mother still manuvering around as much as possible to get to her.

'Gian'redhead!' The boy glanced up at the sound. Only one person would be called that. But where had it come from? The raven peered around curiously, hunting for the source before doing what he usually did to look for things. A jump and a few flaps to hold himself in place then flopping back on the ground.
All he'd seen was some lady. Nothing that would have made a high pitched noise like that. "Ha..."
"Just some kid." The man mumbled, glancing over his shoulder. Obviously not his student, they hadn't known his name or called out about a teacher. Just so long as it wasn't.
Oh just great. It was one of them. Another bird it seemed, and a girl no less. He'dmanaged to spot a few feathers and wings before the girl vanished. He wasn't going to tell Revon that though, that might making shopping take longer. "Just finish finding what you want and you can go try them on to see what fits." He managed to keep his tone as neutral as possible as he spoke.
The boy nodded before setting the item he was holding back where he'd found it and digging up a skirt that screamed that it was too short. But he had shorts that would be wonderful with it. He'd just need some... "Socks." He stated before starting down the aisle for where the socks would be located. He wanted ones with stares for this outfit. The skirt had a little buckle in the shape of a glittery star on it. So they had to be nice high starry socks.
Pink of course.
The dark skinned bird had only rounded the aisle before stopping in his trakcs to stare cluelessly at what appeared to be another bird and the lady he'd seen. But that wasn't so odd. No it was the fact that her outfit was... "C-cute." It just should have been pink.

Rapier was trying to nab at her winged daughter, growling and reaching for her over a skirt rack. It wasn't GOOD to stretch when all you wore was a corset-outfit. She wasn't afraid of popping out but... chafing was bad.
"Cleo! I said no socks! Jeans! Jeans!"
Hearing her mother about to loose her temper, Cleo just peered over her shoulder and beamed. "No~" The goldcrest humming, moving over to the socks section and then someone said the word cute. Was Jem here?
She blinked her eyes before twisting around and then seeing the dark raven. He was cute! He was dark and fluffy and had WINGS, just like her! Oh, this was fun! She hadn't met a birdie like her before.
"Hello!" A brown and green arm waved high in the air as Cleo hopped over towards Revon, peering at him curiously. She was a small, hyper bird to begin with - a goldcrest with legs and hands was almost dangerous. "Wha' are you? You aren' a me cause you go' black win's stead of yellow."

And that... was a sigh of defeat. As if it wasn't sealed enough when Revon had mumbled that the girl's outfit was cute. Now she was bubbly about meeting another bird. He was going to be here a while.
Madeline was doing the shopping fro now on. He didn't care if it would end up costing more. This was just not worth the trouble.
The cutely dressed bird seemed friendly enough. Still he tucked his chin down a bit against his chest as she bounded over. despite everything he still wasn't very good around strangers. Even if he had kindof accidentally started the whole thing. "R-raven." He stated quietly to answer the question. "Revon is a... a ra-raven." He managed a small smile at that, venturing to look at her more straight by lifting his head instead of ducking down. Though his wings where still slightly shielding his shoulders.
"Socks Revon..." Came the attempted reminder. He might have lost, but he could try to keep the boy on track. Try being the keyword.
Bi-colored eyes turned up to the keeper momentarily before back to the girl. That was right, he was here for socks. "Nee-duh find p-pink st-star socks." He managed to babble out, something of an invitation to the girl. It wasn't as hard to be around people when it was somewhere you where confortable with. Not so hard at all. And she was another bird who seemed nice. Right?

"A raven? Like th' poem?" She brightened up a little at that, tail feathers fluffing out momentarily. Her mam was a fan of Poe and thus, the girl had often heard his work. It made for a morbid little girl sometimes but Tyven never seemed to mind.
"'M Squeakah!" She introduced herself proudly, giving a little bounce. She could FEEL her mothers glare and so Cleo just grinned wider. "Squeakah Cleo, though... Mam likes Cleeeeeo."
Harus reminder of socks elicited a giggle and she leaned over to grab Revons hands, tugging him towards the socks. "Need socks too! Big, tall ones! I gots star ones tho, too. Today is cows and bees."
While they spoke, Rapier winced again, fingers moving to rub her temple slowly. Brown eyes cast over towards Haru and the woman sighed. She moved closer to the man, arms folding.
"....we're going to be here for a while, aren't we?"

"Yes.... Ms. Crossette is doing the shopping from now on." He stated bluntly, looking about as bored as was possible. He should have brought a book... or paperwork. Why had he not thought ahead?
And why was she so bothered? At least her child was a girl. He had to take care of a boy who wanted to THINK he was a girl. Or something similar to it. He hadn't asked, and he didn't want to.
He nodded at the mention of the poem. Haruki had books by Poe as well, thus the raven knew all too well what poem she was talking about. Though in truth the literature didn't match him very well. Maybe his brother?
"Cleo." He said it under his breath to memorize the name. Then allowed himself to be led over to the socks. "Tall ones a-are best." He said quietly, a smile dawning on his face. "To-go wi-with th-the skirt." He added, starring at the lovely display of colorful socks. They where all pretty, but he liked the pink ones best. "Cows a-and b-ees?" He Eyed the selection hunting for some that fit the description and eventually found some that had a rather comical depiction that more or less matched. Oversized bees and cow heads. Kind of the idea.

"Lucky. If I let Jem shop, she'd come home with drawers full of girly, frilly socks and Jems idiotic grin." Her voice was still droll, keeping keen brown eyes on her daughter and the little black raven.
Cleo was disobeying her. Rapier didn't know why but she was and it was agitating the hell out of the Fallen. Her elongated ears gave a little twitch. It was involuntary and only noticed after they happened.
"D-Corp?" Rapier asked suddenly, clutched by a sudden bought of talkativeness. "Obviously but... hell." Her hand waved slightly, "So all the kids are shoved onto people?"
"Revon." Cleo repeated, laughing and peering through the socks. "Uh huh. Tall socks mean less skir's which are funnes' cause you're more free." She giggled, leaning over to peer over hi shoulder and poked at the socks the raven held.
"Look - pink behind the bees and 'he cows. Mine are yellow, though."

He glanced at the woman about as boredly as was posible. "You're assuming that Ms. Crossette would hesitate to spend my money on Revon?" If anything was correct, it was that Revon would come home with more clothes than would fit in his drawers. Haruki just cared about saving his sanity more than his paycheck. But such was the story of his life. Attempting to cling to what was left of his frayed mind.
As for Revon? He was just hoping that the child would finish up soon. He didn't want to end up standing here too long. Even if it was becoming plainly obvious that those two might be at those socks for a while. They were currently fawning over something of hideous design as it was.
"I work there." He stated simply. No use hiding it. "This wasn't in my contract." He added as an afterthought. So yes, it was obvious that they liked shoving the children on people. "...he's not as much work as the hellion they call his twin. Ms. Crossette is raising a wild animal, not a child." His sentiments on Keivlos of course. Revon was simple compared to that boy.
He nodded as she spoke his name. That was certainly his name. "Less sk-skirts." He blinked then glanced at the socks. "Ha says... sh-shorts with skirts." He added, then smiled at the socks in his hands. "I... rea-really like pi-nk." He replied to the comment, turning to drop off the socks with Haru.
He paused a moment at the sight of the woman, looking at her confused before holding them out until the red-head took them and added them to the pile draped over his arm. Then he was back to the stack to find some star socks. "Starry." He chimed eyeing the stack once more. "H-high starry for a short sk-skirt."

"S'okay. Pink is pretty - gotsum bows 'ha're pink." Cleo assured the other boy, nodding in agreement with him. "M'favori'e's yellow, tho. 'S all brightuh and happy."
The goldcrest leaned over the selection of socks when Revon pattered back to his gaurdian briefly. Some socks were snagged for herself but one - with shooting looking stars on the fabric, caught her eye. There was even a pink background! And the stars had some yellow in them!
They were perfect, in her eyes.
Cleo plucked up the high rise socks, offering them to Revon. "Look! Pink'n'yellow, same time~ S'nice." They had pink AND yellow! Heck, she was thinking of getting them for herself.
Rapier watched the children with a mildly amused expression as the man spoke, glancing over to Haruki at the question. "No, but I'm going to assume the comment about Ms. Crossette is rhetorical." Her shoulders rose and fell effortlessly, one hand moving up to give her harshly tied bun a pat. No use if that fell up now, was it.
When he said he worked there, though, Rapiers brown eyes turned to him sharply. "You work there?" No, she didn't feel the urge to choke him or stab him - Rapier had grown fond of both her children. "So do they make an effort to give children to people unequipped to handle them? Because when they shoved Ms Sunshine over there at me, I had never held a kid under ten."
Twins. Hellion. Christ. Rapier shook her head, nose wrinkling faintly. "So there's one who likes socks and one who likes to run around like a wild animal. ...nice. How are they when they get together?"

"Socks, music that makes your head hurt, and glitter." Oh god the glitter. He still remembered the day the bottle had exploded. It had taken so long to get every speck of that stuff cleaned up. Which was why there was a new rule against that for crafts. Only the sparkle crayons. Yes, never again. Besides. He was certain to Keivlos would eat the glue, or try to get Revon to eat it. It really couldn't be healthy for either of them.
For that matter... wasn't Revon wanting a few new pink glittery crayons? he'd worn those down again.
"Together the beast ensures that the lack of self esteem Revon has doesn't waver. I'd seperate them, but Revon insists on having his brother around. Why is beyond me." Ah yes, he still couldn't comprehend that little bit.
"As for the parents. I'm certain they do hunt people down just for that purpose." Which was of course, saying he to should never have dealt with children. But he'd never wanted one, so it was true enough. "That, or perhaps they just enjoy seeing the expressions." He'd also once come up with the hypothesis that his boss simply had a cruel sense of humor. It had been let go of at the time he realized that the man was taking care of a child as well.
Revon simply stared in slight awe at the socks that Cleo had found. She must have been an expert at finding perfect things. "Th-those are perfect for th-the sk-skirt!" He beamed at the lovely concotion that was a mixture of all the goodness of colors. He saw Pink as the brightest and happiest color, but Cleo thought yellow was good too. So even if he was wrong, they both couldn't be wrong. It had to be a most perfect of socks that was before them.
Which was hard to come by. They were very lucky today!
He took the socks to give them one last look over before nodding. Yep, perfect. They'd be long enough, but not too long. The colors where bright and happy. That was important too. But probably what was most important was that they had pink. Yes, the color thing did mean they'd need pink. But it was important enough that it needed it's own catagory. "Best s-socks ever!" Or so he thought.
