Tessa paced back and forth across her classroom ( a now common occurance for her) while waiting for her pupil to arrive. The girl Alaqua, was a Koala and was to be learning how develop her sense to smell to standards near that of which her DNA dictated she should or could have.
In order to do this she'd set a few small vial up on a desk. Each vial contained a different scent some strong and others faint. Alaqua's lesson would be to smell each vial then find it's partner which was hidden somewhere in the class room. It was a simple test but should be effective.

Alaqua entered the classroom, holding open the door behind her for her dragon to enter. Bob glanced over at the woman. Well, at least it wasn't that mean looking one. He padded along behind the girl over to where the teacher was standing near a table.
Ala glanced at the table and the small tubes on top of it. What was she going to be learning that involved those? Curious, she glanced over for the teacher to explain.

 " Hello there Alaqua" Tessa said smiling at the girl before proceeding to nod at her dragon " My notes don't have your name on file but hello to you to." It was only righ to be polite to both parts of a pair after all they were both of near equal intelligence.
" Alaqua today you'll be working on fine tuning your sense of smell. The vials on the table contain special scents. You will smell each one then find it's partner hidden somewhere in the class. There is also bonus points if you can tell me what each vial contains." Tessa hoped she'd presented the day's test in a straight foreward and understandable manner.
She eyed the nameless dragon " You are not to help her in any way as this is a test of her skills not yours,."

Bob was happy that the teacher adressed him. He made a delighted 'whoof' sound and grinned, swishing his tail about as well.
"His name's Bob." Ala informed her teacher, then listened closely to the instructions. So she had to smell what was in those... vials, did she call them?... and then find the same scent hidden somewhere in the classroom. Sounded hard.
Bob was perfectly content to not help out in any way and plopped promptly onto the ground to make sure that Ala knew he wouldn't be doing a thing.
Alaqua walked over to the table and picked up the first vial. She took a deep breath through her nose to smell the scent inside and almost sneezed in response. She'd picked up one of the stronger ones. She took a more cautious sniff and then placed it back on the table and slowly started off to wander the classroom, trying to follow her nose to the hidden vial.

Tessa found the pair to be amusing and Alaqua's sneeze to be quite cute. It was good that Bob was so easily pleased and willing to stay out of that way, much the same it was good that Alaqua got straight down to business. This should prove to be a good lesson and would give her notes to send to her superiors on the girls behaviour and attitude as well as her skills development.
Moving so she too way out of the way Tessa stood next to Bob and watched Alaqua search for the required vial. " Perhaos another time we can test your own scent finding skills" She said adressing the dragon, she knew that the dragons had heightened senses but they probably differed much like in the children.
( Alaqua may find the vial wherever she wishes)

Bob made a weird sort of half-strangled noise. He didn't want have to do any of the work! In all of the classes, he just got to sit and watch. No fun, because talking wasn't allowed, but at least he didn't have to do much.
Alaqua felt funny sniffing the air like a dog as she walked. She smelled a different scent and marked the general area for later. She slowly moved in a circle about the room, almost halfway through it she paused, sniffing a bit more. Then she started moving away from the table.
"Ah ha!" Moments later, the girl was holding up the matching vial, having found it almost in a corner of the classroom.
Alaqua carried the hidden vial over to the table and set it with its partner. Then she picked up another vial to hunt. She sniffed more cautiously this time and... didn't smell anything. She sniffed again, breathing deeper. Ah, this one wasn't nearly as strong. It would be harder to find... She made sure to get a good smell of it and started to wander the classroom again.

Tessa wasn't quite sure what to make of Bob's reaction so she remained silent. Alaqua' had taken the inititaitve to keep hunting vials so for the moment her only job was to observe. Putting pen to paper she noted that the Koala girl had leanrned from her earlier mistake and was now carefully testing the vials.

This one was taking longer to find than the last one. Alaqua continued to walk about the classroom, but she was having a hard time locating the scent. Probably because it was fainter than the last one.
Frowning, she walked slowly around, still feeling silly at sniffing the air like a dog. There was no doubt in her mind that her dragon was getting a kick out of this. But thinking like that was distracting her from trying to find that vial. She sighed and went back to concentrating on the scent.

" If you are having trouble you could always pick a new vial" Tessa suggessted. It wasn't like all the vials would be easy to find and really this was a test kickstart the girl using her sense of smell to it's full potentials. She'd be assigned homework at the end of the test to keep herself in practise. Even finding one more vial should be able to help her whether it was hard or easy vial to find.

Alaqua heard the teacher, but didn't go back for another vial right away. She wanted to try a bit more and see if she could find it. After walking around the classroom once more, she sighed and gave up. That one was too hard. She picked up another vial, smelling it. This one wasn't as strong as the first, but not as faint as the second.
The girl started about the classroom again. After a few minutes, she caught scent of the hidden vial and headed towards it, locating the general area. Now to just narrow down the area.

Tess was interested now, the girl had picked another scent a stronger one, however it's vial was hidden very close to the partner of her failed attempt. Whether or not the girl was capable of finding both or even remembering the scent of the last vial Tessa didn't know. Still it would hopefully prove interesting to see.

Since the one she was looking for was stronger than the other one hidden nearby, Alaqua didn't smell it for a while. She was closing in on the area and happened to walk right by the other one. She also happened to take a sniff right then.
The girl paused, confused for a moment. She was now smelling two things, or to her thoughts something different. The koala girl took another sniff, then went on to find the stronger vial and put it on the table, remembering where that other smell had been.
Her hand hovered over a new vial for a moment, then she picked up that faint one again. Not because she'd figured out what the hidden one was, but because she was too stubborn to give up looking for it. As soon as she smelt it, the lightbulb went on and she quickly walked over to where she'd been, trying to find that vial.

" It's Alright that's enough you've done a good job and I don't want to overdo it today." Tessa was impressed with what the Koala girl had accomplished and figured it was best to end on a high note. " I'd like you to do some tests at home for the next few days, Have Bob hide a bar of soap or something and you'll have to find it. Practise will make the most out of your ability.

Ala jumped as the teacher spoke. She'd pretty much forgotten that the woman and Bob were still in the classroom, she'd been focusing on finding that vial. Alaqua smiled and nodded. "Okay, I will. Thank you!" With that, the girl gave Bob a beckon.
The dragon was eager to go. Heh, hiding things from Ala to find sounded like a lot of fun. Knowing the dragon, he'd probably hide them in very odd places... He gave a sort of farewell to Tessa, then scampered out the door behind Ala.
