What's up? I'm pretty new to this forum but I'm really looking for people who are pretty laid back and can give honest advice about guns and not just the typical "dat1 sux by a 1500 gun" responses. =)

Anyway, I'm dropping about $800 total to get back into the sport, so that means gun, new goggles, hopper, the whole nine yards. At that price I've been looking at the Raven Primal for the simple fact that I can get it for $450 and it pops 20+ rounds/sec and comes with eyes built in. It's also upgradable gun and works well at low-pressure.

In contrast people have been suggesting the Smart Parts Vision Impulse. The problems I have with this gun is the issue surrounding the first shot firing at a reduced velocity, thus requiring a $125 LPR upgrade out of the box to fix. Not only that but you also need a Tapeworm to fix the cycling issue. The other thing is that the eyes have a problem detecting dark paint, and it is recommended that you upgrade the trigger out of the box. All of this for $599+ seems a little iffy to me.

More than that I've been doing my best to not purchase any products from Smart Parts due to, what I feel is, their geedy nature. I feel their ethics are hurting our sport and promoting an almost unsportsman outlook on games and tournaments. I know it sounds silly, but it's really a personal ethic, I like to support companies that try to help out the n00b.

Anyway, has anyone shot the Primal? If so, how did you like it? I had a buddy that shot 2,000 rounds through it on semi-auto as fast as he could and he didn't chop a single ball. He liked the way it held up in the local games he played, but then again, he was just evaluating the gun for a day.

Thanks guys!

Sorry, I really don't know anything about either of those markers........>.<

All i can tell you is, try to find a store or someone on the field use one of those markers asked them about it, and see if they will let you fire a few rounds.

Personally I don't like the impulses too much, they feel kind of bulky and you need quite a few upgrades right off the bat(LPR/tapeworm) to get it working up to speed. The Raven Primal I've actually only heard of fairly recently. I wanted to get one for the store but I'm kind of hesitant that someone would spend 500 bucks for a high end spyder, until I know more about it.

Shockers are the next step up, but that would probably break the 800 you'd want to spend for everything. That along with SP's nazi reputation, it probably wouldn't work out.

The next option would probably to scan the forums for a used marker. I got my matrix for 600, fully upgraded off pbnation. So that could me another option if you don't mind the risk of dealing online.

I personally don't like Impulses for all the reasons you've specified. They're crap out of the box and need their price over again in upgrades to make them any good compared to today's markers. I would go with the Primal. I've heard it's pretty reliable, and a good marker all around. It's also a little easier on your $800 limit. The only real upgrade you would need for it would be a barrel, and whatever else you want.

I'm not a big fan of SP after what they did to other companys..But the Impulse is a decent gun it is tournament worth..But I would prefer a privet label Impulse..If you look around you can get used Nasty Impules for like 500-550 if you know where to look.I never owned a Impulse or any SP gun and plan on never owning one.I don't like the Impulse they are just not my gun.

As the Raven gun stands I don't see the point of paying that much money for a Spyder with eyes.I've never seen one nor used one..

But your best bet is to go to a local field and ask a few people if you could tkae a few shoots with their gun and see how you like it.

Don't let people pressure into a marker to buy..It's all your preference..
(I gave both negitive feedback for both guns
Like my team they want me to shoot a cocker but i personally hate cockers..Thats why i'm getting rid of my Orracle I thought it would be a cool gun but i dislike it..As for a Trix I've shoot'in many of them including DM4 and they are both really nice guns...

DO NOT LET PEOPLE PRESSURE YOU INTO BUYING A MAKER YOU DON'T WANT.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The badass dudes at www.synergy-paintball.com hooked me up and I wound up buying a Dye Matrix LCD.

I like the Impulse but I had find a used one that was fully upgraded because I didn't have $1400 to invest in a marker. The problem with high end tourny ball is that you'll have to spend $12-1400 on a marker wether or not it's an all in one DM5 or an upgraded over time Impulse.

I don't care for the Raven because its basically an upgraded Spyder and I have never had a good experience with a Spyder. In fact I can't find any kingman product in any of the paintshops that I go to, but Walmart has plenty of them.

When I ask about markers Smart Parts products are alwaus recomended and spyder is always critisized.

I do understand how you feel about Smart Parts because its the same way I feel about Sony and the PS2, and I dont like giant companies trying to takeover the world and force thier product down your throat, but the Impilse is a good marker overall and the price was right.
