((This was back when Amoena was still a foal!))

Amoena bolted from her village an old basket hanging from her mouth. It seemed as though her mother was just getting worse and worse. Her eyes watered at the thought of something being seriously wrong. No! She needed to focus. There were herbs out here somewhere, plants the two-leggers used for healing.

She let out a sad cry as her hooves begain pounding up against frozen earth. She knew next to nothing about plants bust she knew nothing really lived in the winter. "Not good..." She mumbled through the wicker handle.

It had taken a long time, many miles of travel, and more than a few harsh words...but finally, finally, the sun was out. Safi wouldn't go so far as to say that everything was as it should be...but it was certainly better than it had been. And now...he was going home.

Or at least, that was the idea. Smiling to himself, Safi flew through the air, his multicolored wings easily carrying him along. It wasn't windy, so he had virtually no resistance. And since it wasn't cloudy, he was able to admire the scenery beneath as he flew along.

But as he was looking about, he caught sight of something that almost made him fall out of the sky. Kohana????

No. As he dove downwards towards what had at first seemed to be his brother, he saw he was wrong on multiple counts. This was a foal...a filly, at that. But the coloring...was eerily the same as that of his brother.

Coasting to the ground, he saw with no small amount of concern that there were tears in her eyes. What could have so upset such a small creature?

"Are you alright, sweetie?"

The young foal lept backwards allowing the basket to drop from her mouth. Her caribean eyes were wide as saucers as a large shadow begain to decend. They narrowed immediatly after a winged stallion landed before her and it just figured that he too would treat her just like a child. "I'm fine!" She snapped gazing down at her spilled basket. "Just busy...great..."

Leaning over to get her basket she noticed something odd. His coat color around the hooves in fact. It was, strangely familliar. "Have...I met you before?" She asked straightening her self to look him over once again. She couldn't have possably, she'd have known.

At the rather brusque tone of the foal's voice, Safi started to raise his brow...but he could see that something was bothering her, so he hastily quashed that reflex. "Whatever you say, little one; I was simply curious."

Her question provoked the brow raise all over again, though. "I don't believe that you have, actually; though I have to admit that you look familiar..." Well, there was only one way to find out if that was the case or not. "Do you happen to know a stallion called Kohana?"

"Kohana?" Her voice darkened considerably at the name. She knew that name. She had known since she was old enough to walk. It was something her momma had always wanted her to know. "No...I've never met him..." She snatched up her basket and turned to trot off but a thought stirred her. He had wings, he probably knew where lot's of good healing herbs were.

Setting her basket back down she spun to face him once again. "You fly right? So...that means you can help me find these plants that will help my momma!" Her eyes sparkled as did her voice. Almost as though she had forgotten her previous anger.

...Talk about your short attention spans; first she was mad, then she was sad, then she was surly, now she was curious? It was enough to make one's head spin...

But there was something about the way that she'd said his brother's name that got Safi thinking. It had been a long time since he'd spoken to Kohana...a long time indeed, by the look of things.

First things first, though. "Well, that depends on what sort of plants you need. What's wrong with your mother?" A bit blunt, maybe,,,but not all plants treated all maladies.

"Uhhh...I don't know...she's just real hurt. She came home all bruised and kinda cut up and all shakey...is there anything like that?" She looked up clear eyes shining with hope. It sounded like he might know some place. If he did, her momma would get better in no time! She'd be able to tell her all about how hard her dear daughter worked to get them.

She grinned inwardly at the thought then turned her focus back to the dazzling white male before her. "Do you know where to find it? I really wanna help!" As hard as it was, she needed to focus. If she couldn't then everything would end up confusing her.

"Hrm..." Sounded like she could just use something to soothe pain. Well, that would be easy enough to find! "I think that we ought to be able to find something like that. It'll involve some walking on your part, though; I really don't think that I can fly with you on my back!" And he didn't feel like trying, either.

But that reminded him...was she out here alone? "Is someone watching you, or are you by yourself?"

She grinned, and not one of those little ones either. It spread through out her face into her eyes and into her legs as well. There was a way to save her momma and he was gonna slow her down with questions. "You're watching me right?" She said tilting her head showing that this was an obvious fact.

"You seem okay so we can go okay? We can go get the thing momma needs. I don't care how far away it is!" She looked straight into his eyes with a determination she didn't know she had. If he said no she'd go with out him and she tried showing that with just the one look.

...Never ask a foal a question that you didn't want an answer to. Safi found himself grinning as well; she had an infectious smile, this little filly. And how could he argue with such brilliant logic, honestly?

"You're right; how could I have possibly not realized that I was watching you? Well, I'll have a decent chance to do some watching, because we have a hike ahead of us. Make sure you grab your basket, kiddo!"

Spreading his wings, Safi turned and raced up the hill, stopping at the top and waiting for the filly. "Or are you too slow to keep up with me?"

She nodded rapidly making her teath rattle a bit before practically diving down to grab her basket. Once she turned around, he was gone. "Mister? Where'd you go?" She glanced around her surroundings once and there was still no sign of him. Next time she saw him he was in for it until words reached her ears.

She looked up, how did he get up there already? "Hey!!!" She shouted angrily bolting up the hill a tad clumsy. It wasn't much her fault though, the ground was slippery. She reached the wind once again and met his eye puffing out her cheeks stubbornly. "Who're you calling slow?" She demanded breathing heavily. "Where are we going anyway?"
PostPosted: Tue Nov 21, 2006 7:49 pm

Chuckling a bit, Safi ruffled the filly's mane with a wingtip. She certainly had spunk, he had to admit that!

"I'm calling you slow, short-legs; but you're doing a pretty good job, I have to admit that." Folding back his wings, he pointed off towards the trees with a foreleg in response to her question. "Well, most of the medicinal plants are out that way. Don't ask me why, but they seem to enjoy clustering with other plants, like the trees." Smiling, he started to walk off towards the forest, then paused as a thought occured to him. "You aren't afraid of the woods, are you?" That could through a wrench in the works...

Amoena shrugged away from the stallions touch. No one but her momma every did stuff like that to her. Somewhat happier she followed his wing out to the forest and shuddered a bit looking at it. This wasn't because she was scared, more like excited. She had never been into the forest before the majority of her searches had only been close to the village. "Of course not!" She said looking at the stallion with her normal determination leaving out the last poeice of the thought that only went through her head, 'How can you be scared of something you've never seen?'

Withought another word or thought she jumped forward and began to race down the hill to the woods. She had no intention of getting there first, though, so she turned her head back. "Race you to it longy!!!"
PostPosted: Wed Nov 22, 2006 10:33 am

...Longy? Obviously the kid needed a little work on her retorts...but she at least had potential. Chuckling at her enhusiasm, Safi simply spread his wings and took off, easily passing the speeding foal. "What was that you said, short stuff? I think I missed it, what with all the wind rushing past my ears!"

He wasn't sure that he totally believed her words; he'd been a foal himself, after all, and knew that false bravado tended to go with the teritory. Still, it wasn't like he couldn't keep an eye on her; and if need be, he could simply send her home. That would be alright.

"Ha ha, very funny!!!"She shouted up at the flying male as he passed. Inside she was grinning he fell into it completely! He'd get there first and she wouldn't need to worry. If there was anything dangerous he'd get rid of it, or so she hoped. If he didn't, she'd be in big trouble.

Snapping back to her former disposition she called up to him, "I may be short but at least I don't have a big butt!!!" She grinned at what she considered cleverness. There was no way he'd come up with anything better. She was victorious, and almost half way there already. She was a bit surprised, it had seemed so much further away from the hill top.
