Inhabiting the woods of the trickster are many type of creatures. Some known and approachable, some known and dangerous. Still others have yet to reveal themselves, staying cloaked in the forest that is mother to all of them.

Both Chirra and Apos start out as a "Puff". They are about the size of a cat, and have muscle mass to them, but they are litterally a ball of fluff with a tail. The fluff does not eat, or drink, or make any sort of sound. While they can move in an odd slinky-type movement, or hop, or even roll, their speed at doing so varies. They are fully intelligent in this stage.

In child stage, the Apos develope a distinctly canine appearance. The wings become its most striking feature, multi faceted and beautiful. Most Apos demonstrate the qualities of a wise old sage. They are often quiet, thoughtful, and prone to naps!

While the Chirra also start out as a "Puff", their development is on a much more bipedal path. As a child they begin to take on more distinctly humanoid appearance. Once fully grown, they are about the size of a small child, and as innocent as one. Their mental acuities are, however; fully adult. Save for a rather unfortunate and racoon-like fixation on "shinies", they are very non-demanding and gentle creatures.

The Stagg are a rather interesting breed. The child is neither masculine nor feminine at first, being born of no gender. The "default" gender is female. If the Stagg wants to become a male, it must undergo a rite of initiation. After which time, it has the sanction of the Stagg leader to eat of the tree of Halps. The Bark engenders a chemical reaction leading to the developement into masculinity.

If a young Stagg takes the bark without sanction, he is cast out from the herd forever. Once disavowed, the young male will spend most of the remainder of his days wandering to rue his fate.

Mudge

If you were to take the most unusual and creepy thing and put a face to it...you would likely have a mudge. Named for their muddy and sludge like appearance, as well as for their mumbling attempt to talk...these creatures are not in anywise a companion for those that would like a warm and fuzzy pet.

Often found in packs, that is also when they are most dangerous. Their chorus of half burbled yips and bays are truly eerie. In the dark, their eyes are luminescent...and for some, that is the last thing that they see.

These playful denizens of the Lake are more seal than feline in manner. Mischievious and loving, they are quite trusting. They can also get carried away with their affection...Chirra have learned to be careful with this gentle lovers, more than one Dinny has beocme stranded while trying to follow an attentive Chirra home!

The Iguion is a strange amalgamation indeed. Neither hostile or friendly, they are generally solitary creatures, and indifferent to most things around them other than their own needs.

Owls are often paired with ancient knowledge and wisdom. While the elder owls often are deserving of such praise, the younger owls are not quite so learned. Flighty and some might say callow, the young fledglings can often be their own worst enemy...

The Coatl are distantly related to the Iguion. But where their cousin has adapted to the lower levels, the Coatl still lurks in the heights of the Aerie. While they do not have "wings" per se, there is a flap of skin that allows their hollow boned and deceptively light frame to "glide" from peak to peak. Their body is covered with fluffy down and feathers that allow for their aerodynamic life.

Their talons are so hard, and their strength so sure that they can hang completely upside down for hours on end. Much like a bat would.

The "Bunyip" is a name adopted by these strange creatures because they used to be called "trolls". Not wanting such an inelegant name, they adopted "Bunyip", and beat up anyone to a pulp that dared to use the old name.

Hence, they are now never referred to (to their face, or within hearing at least) "trolls".

Posessing a squat, frog like body, covered generously with warts (or "beauty marks" as the females refer to them...see "trolls" for more information on how they enforce their view), the males warts are less patterned and random, whereas the females follow a distinct curvature.

Coarse, and bullying, these are not a very friendly creature to come across at all. If they decide not to eat you, they may decide to make you their slave.

Besides the Trickster himself, the Daeva are the most mysterious of the Wood's known inhabitants. They are solitary creatures, mating for life to their one true intended. Mystical and austere, these creatures bring great blessings...but not without a price.

To befriend a Daeva is the greatest of boons. But it is not an easy task at all to do so.

The Daeva are known in other cultures by different names. The most known identitiy of a Daeva is the title "Luck Dragon"

The Caesgl are a shy and introverted race. While intermingling freely with the Dinny and other Lake dwellers, they shun most of the other races out of fear. Aloof and often nothing but a flash of color in the center of the lake, both Caesgl genders have beautiful voices both above and below the water.

As shy as they are, they are more than happy to serenade the glen...from a distance!

The Wyrms are small dragon-like creatures. Not large enough to threaten villages and castles as the tales tell. But more than large enough to threaten a group of Chirra and Apos. Should it be of a mind to do so.

The firebird is a title that can be misleading. They are not a fire-elemental at all, but the way that their form flickers in the light is very reminiscent of fire. Hence their name. Elusive and solitary, it is rare to meet a Firebird, and rarer still to convince one of your good intentions.

Like most of the rare mystical creatures, they are able to discern a person's true intent and have little hesitation on acting for or against it. Their powers are not fully known.

The species of which the Trickster originates. Satyrs are sometimes referred to as "Pucks" as well. While they are varied in temperment, most all share the same love of play and mischief as their leader.

You would have to be a stranger indeed to lore not to recognize this beast. Pure and noble, the Unicorn are often found in male/female pairs. A Unicorn mates for life, and if their mate dies...the remaining partner soon follows.

Hunted for their alicorn, these creature sought the help of the trickster to survive. He has granted them their plea and they are under his direct protection.

Griffons are wild and fierce. While not evil, they are often a proud and solitary creature. Part lion, part eagle, they share the hunting instincts of both.

While intelligent enough to differentiate between an inhabitant under the protection of the Trickster from plain prey, they can choose to defy Puck and attempt to attack an inhabitant.

Approach with caution, always.
