The yellow sun shimmered from above, not a cloud or hint of puffy white in the endless blue sky. Below the heavens, a soft breeze rustled through the yellowing and dying tall grasses, letting them dance as the wind whistled at its moments. A few crickets sang, jumping from dirt to rock and back again and lizards milled about sitting under these rocks for shade from the overbearing heat they felt - though today it wasn't so bad to be honest.
The creatures scattered about were going on in their circle of life and Kala'ha'a was bored and she had a big yawn to prove it. The white lioness took in a deep breathe as she shifted her forefront limbs where she lay on the ground. Her left paw flexed, digits spreads into the ground and made small patterns. Pink tipped tail batted at the ground as blue eyes remained unfocused as she continued making little drawings.
Man, things were SO dull. Having already chased a few grasshoppers and rabbits, and getting herself a meal along the way, she had scuttled about like the childish adult she was. After tripping over that last rock, however, she had decided to call it a day... before the day had even begun! Now there was nothing to do, she grumbled. So she sat, in the middle of the grass field waiting for inspiration to strike.

Thin crimson fur slid over stocky shoulders as the female firekin danced over the long grass beneath her feet. It wasn't every day that a firekin was seen out over the savannah like this and not the desert, especialy one that was mostly red, the most loved color of all the firekin pelts.
Here was an ex-firekin that was too passive for her own fur and that was out wandering around looking for the Ela'. Khepri, the daughter of the sun, was bored as all hell. A field mouse ran over her foot when she stopped her strange dance for a few moments.
Grinning, Khepri smacked a paw down on its tail and held it up before her white muzzle playfully, smirking at it before setting it down again and yawning. The day wasn't looking as if it would be all that great, but then recently nothing had really been all that great. She just desperatly wanted to find the Ela' like nothing else.
"Anyone home!?" She yelled into a random rabbit hole and earned a kick of dirt in the face for her troubles. ninja

An interesting thing about burrows was that sometimes two holes leading into one could be found. Though rabbits weren't really known to create the double, there could be those few that went against the norm as with any species. And luckily, or one of those 'of course' moments, Kala was situated quite close to the escape hole. Her white ears pivoted as the call from the other lioness echoed through the small habitat under the ground. It was a bit faint but still enough to alert her that she was indeed no longer alone on the grassy plain; and from the sound of it, it really didn't seem like one of the little critters she always came across.
The female rogue pushed herself up to her feet, head having already began its turns in excitement. Blue eyes slide side to side, looking right to left as her head darted about, front paws sometimes following suit as she shifted her weight and turned her upperbody. .... Really, it shouldn't have taken this long to locate someone else, she thought to herself, rabbit burrows weren't that big and the sound asn't too far gone by the time it got to her. Where the- oh, what was that red thing there? It wasn't there before.
Kala tilted her head in curiousity as she slowly made her approach towards the red coated creature - perhaps a lion? Really, what else was that big? It was obviously a cat ~ "Hello?" She called as she got closer - yes, the other was very much a lion.... and hopefully not a mean one...

She got an answer... she got an answer? Khepri tilted her red ears forward and bared the pink on the insides of them to the newcomer across the way. This newcomer was white and pink, but she at least seemed to be friendly, so Khepri took a few steps in her direction on her white tipped paws.
The ex-firekin was attempting to keep her body language straight, her slanted shoulders and her high arching hind quarters were strange even among her own kind as well as the incredibly large size that she sported. The smile plastered to her white muzzle was probably the most normal thing to her that existed.
Normal, yeah, you're normal and I'm the easter bunny.
She scowled inwardly at the voices in her head for a moment, never letting her smile on the outside falter lest the other lioness think she meant her harm.
"Hello. Nice to meet yo'." Khepri called out in her gilted and accented speech. ninja

Oh, a friendly greeting. That was a good sign that the red female was not going to maul her or something - Kala was herself friendly, or thought she was, and quick to trust in others but sometimes it was better safe than sorry. And with the size and body language of the young female, the rogue really wasn't sure what to make of it. Hopefully the smile wasn't unsincere and this wasn't all a ploy or something, but it seemed natural and genuine and she was curious about many things about this female as she came closer - like all that red fur, Kala had never seen so much red.. or well red fur in general [nevermind the fact pink is a light red]. The white lioness put her own best smile forth in return as she came to a stop near the other - thanking what ever nice deity that was around for not making her look like an a** and trip on the way.
"Hello~ it is very nice to meet you as well ~" Came her soft toned reply, blinking slightly at the foriegn accent that met her ears. Interesting. "My name is Kala'ha'a ~ and who might you be ~?" And before you could stop herself, "And why were you calling into the rabbit's burrow?"
Well, really, she seemed in neccessary to ask.

A laugh lit Khepri's white muzzle as she felt slightly weird for having had called down into that hole now. The white and pink lioness reminded her faintly of Kaanga except that Kaanga had red markings instead of pink ones. The simple fact that she remembered Kaanga at all made her slightly happier and the adolescent nodded her head to the other.
"Ah'm Khepri, It's a pleasah ta meet yo' Kala'ha'a." Khepri pronounced the other's name slowly so she didn't screw it up with her accent like she normally did with others names.
Dropping one of her red ears sheepishly, Khepri laughed and shook her head. "Ah like ta talk ta othas, an' Ah've been alone fer a long time." ninja

There was a slow blink as the white and pink lioness took in the response, a subtle hint that it was taking a little longer to process her words; Kala was in no way intending to make it obvious that the accent was throwing her off. Out of most of the creatures she had even encountered - wild dogs, other lions, leopards, rabbits - this accent was a little new and unfamiliar. It was pretty though and had a lot of charm. "Khepri." Kala nodded finally, sounding the name out to herself, an equally pretty name she thought to herself.
"Oh?" She questioned, curious on the subject. Kala shifted her weight, her pink tipped tail swished against the ground as she turned her blue eyes upward for a moment, then to the side to look at the plains and then back at Khepri. "Why alone? What about your family?" She cocked her head to the side, not even noticing that maybe she was touching on a personal subject. But, she had to ask... really...

((Sooory! D: ))
A grimace crossed Khepri's muzzle after a moment, feeling insanely... awkward. She hadn't even thought about her family for a moment since she'd left to find her future. She knew that she couldn't go back, she'd be killed if she went back.
But she missed them all the same.
"Ah... had ta leave 'em as a cub." Her head hung a little and she looked down at her white paws. "There's somethin' Ah gotta find on mah own, an where mah family is... Ah can' go back or they'll kill meh."
She let that hang in the air for a moment, her paws shifting nervously as she did so. It was unsettling talking about them because she was getting older and her parents and siblings were slowly drifting from her memory as age started to progress. She was only an adolescent, but she'd been a young cub when she'd gone.
And you still blame us?
She's weak, that's why.
But she needs us, where else will she get her smarts?
Shivering as the voices started to rip at her mind again, Khepri steeled herself and sat upright even straighter. She might be in pain, but she wouldn't show it.
"So wha' makes yo' travel all alone cousin?" She asked tenitivly, not wanting to upset the other with troublesome memories. Khepri knew how much those hurt. ninja
