How do you guys feel about dieting? Do you think it's a good thing or a bad thing?

Depending on the diet, it's okay. I don't suggest dieting to anyone though, unless they are clinicly overweight. I know a lot of girls who think that they are fat and aren't, yet they still diet--it's kinda sick. But most of the time I'm neutral on that subject.

I think dieting depends on the diet and the person. People that are overweight (check your BMI here) could, but not necessarily - you should consult your/a doctor first, use a combination of dieting and excerise. I don't believe that to diet you should cut out one part of the food pyramid or that you should use dieting alone to lose weight.

Wow all of that is good advice. If a person is planning on losing weight I feel that they shouldn't just cut all of their food. They should just eat smaller healthier meals.
As Evil Bianca said, You need to consult a doctor.
Okay, I haven't talked to a doctor. I am trying to lose weight. I have been working out a lot more than I use to. It gives me more energy and I think I like the way I feel.

I don't think of dieting as a good idea...although I am biased as I have never had to lose weight. I believe that exercise is the answer, usually exercise meant to tone muscles, and aerobic exercise works best.

I agree with you completly, Izual. Of course eating healthier/less, sometimes it works. But you still need to exercise regularly or it doesn't matter how much weight you lose. Skinny and fit are two very different things.
And when you lose weight by starvation/drastically cutting calories, you usually just lose water weight or muscle mass. And when you lose weight in muscle, when you gain it back you aren't gaining muscle, you're usually gaining fat. So even if you weigh the same as when you started out, you'll actually appear bigger and be flabbier.
