Phantom supposed thatt she was happy that this particular shopping area had ponds and fishes and ducks like it did. They kept her children busy as she bustled about from store to store, and many other children tended to gravitate to that area as well. Children seemed to be drawn to animals. Really.
As if on cue, Cameo tugged at her sleeve. "I wanna feed the birdies!" She looked up at her, wide eyed, "Can I have a quarter?"
Well, she did need a break, and Asha was getting heavy. She flashed a smile at ehr daughter, ruffling her hair. "Sure thing." Phantom shifted Asha on her hip (who whined and grabbed at her shirt), and dug through her pocket. She withdrew a quarter, and Cameo snatched it happily, holding it in her palm like she was holding a gem. Before she could run off, Phantom look her in the eye. "The ducks like to bite, they'll nibble at you're fingers. Be careful with that, 'kay?"
"I know! I'll be fine!" Cameo piped up, and she hurried akwardly off to the feed dispenser before her mother could slip in another word.
Phantom sighed, and slipped down onto the closest bench. She dropped her bags next to her, and set Asha on her lap.

(Gah, sorry, got yanked away again.)
"BIRDIES!!"
"Yes, Angel, there's ducks." Rune grinned affectionately at her feather-winged little blonde, ruffling small curls as she pushed the stroller toward the same bench Phantom rested on. Angel and her twin Daimon sat in the stroller, peering interestedly all about - two other small girls walked along beside the young woman, almost as curious. One was about five or six, slender and delicate, with curly brown ringlets and wide, shy violet eyes.
And the other? Yvette grinned from ear to ear, busily pointing out scenery to her 'cousin.' "See, duckies! We could feed them, like that nice girl - hey, mama, that looks like Cameo!"

When the feed spillied into Cameo's hands, the birds were like wild animals sensing fresh meat. Some near her gathered at her hooves, waddling here, there, waiting. The feed continued to spill, and overflowed Cameo's hands. The birds flipped, quacking and nipping at the feed on the ground. "Eep!" She held her hands up higher, and a little more feed spilled out of her hands. Realizing this wasn't going to work for a long time, she tossed the feed in the general direction of the pond. "Feed birdies!"
The first one to notice the approaching family was Asha, whose method of pointing this out to his oblivious mother was to throw his hands in the air and yell at the top of his lungs. "Aguga pthh!"
Of course, that meant absolutely nothing to Phantom, but in his baby speech it actually roughly translated to: 'look there'.
Cameo looked up from the birds, the ones that still picked at the ground, and caught sight immediately of, not her brother, but the blonde.
She looked familiar... Wait-
"Yvette?!"

"CAMEO!" It was her friend! Yvette gave a gleeful squeak and darted through the crush of people, fingers wrapped around the wrist of her companion. Skidding to a stop with a scattering of waterfowl and dropped feed, she grinned and threw both arms around the other girl. "Cameo, lookit, I grew! OH! And this is my cousin Revi. It's short for Rev-er-ie. Where's your Mama and Asha?"
Rune blinked, surprised, then laughed slightly. Wow, she hadn't seen Cameo or Phantom for quite a while, but she supposed it was all to the good. Angel clapped eagerly, pointing to Asha, while Daimon flapped his small demon wings in amusement. This looked like it could be fun!

Cameo squealed and hugged Yvette right back ecstatically. "You're bigger!" Of course, she meant that in the best way possible. She tilted her head at the second girl thoughtfully. "Rev-er-ie?" She tried the name tentatively, and then frowned. "Revi's better." She grinned brightly. It was also easier to say. "You're cute!" At the question of her mother, however, she pursed her lips in thought, and then pointed in the general direction. "Over there... I think. She said I could feed the birdies!" Said birds were still milling about, some hovered around her, as if expecting she had more feed. But she didn't have another quarter.
Phantom couldn't help but laugh too. Cameo hadn't seen anyone in quite a long time, so this was quite a happy coincidence. She moved her bags off the bench onto the ground, and motioned to Rune. "It's nice to see a friendly face! Sit! Sit! It's been a long time, hasn't it?"
On his mother's lap, Asha bounced and waved his hands, making his chains clatter together. "Gah!" He made a grabbing motion towards the children in the stroller, "Nyah pthh!" He really, really wanted to play.
