An old crone of a wild dog wandered across the savanna her mind fluttering from one topic to the next. Her tan body stood out like a sore thumb amongst the green grasses as she walked she understood that at any moment she could be attacked.
Her shifty eyes never stopped just like her roaming paws she would forever move until she found her, found her litter mate from so long ago.
"The gods must shine for everyone else but me," she growled unhappily. It was some time before she realized that she was heading towards the large rock in the middle of the lands. She had only met one or two lions in her long life and they were friendly, but she had also met her fair share of unfriendly wild dogs. Hopefully she saw more of the former, less of the latter.

Some days had passed and Wahabu had gone through each of them without seeing his sister, and for that he was quite glad. So in a decent mood and able to move without any pain or itchiness from his wounds he'd decided to go off exploring another area of the Pridelands he'd not seen so much of.
It wasn't long before a strange shape and set of colors came into view, and Wahabu slowed down in his walking to stare. It was a bit distant, and while he too stood out nicely in the grass, he made no effort to hide himself. Whatever was way out there didn't look much like a lion..

Kiji spotted the bright yellow creature and his heart froze what in gods name is that? She thought and athough it was against her better judgement she sped up to see.
"Hello?" She called shakily her eyes never leaving the thing and as she ran and covered a lot of ground she noticed that he was a young lion cub, but he looked rather different than all the rogues she has seen.
"Ahhh, a lion!" She joked fear looking at him. After coming in contact with a genet she realized she needed to be nicer to those she met.

So curious about the creature he saw, Wahabu took no notice of its gender when it came closer and called out to him in what was clearly a feminine voice. He started when she joked about being afraid of him, still staring wide-eyed.
"Um- Hi," he greeted her in a similar shaking voice, tilting his head at her, "Wh- what are you?" He meant to say 'who' but it came out 'what'. She knew he was a lion, why shouldn't he know what she was? Wahabu shook his head, knowing he'd been rude, and took another step back.

"That's aweful rude," she paused looking him over, okay the young are allowed to be curious, "A wild dog, I'm nothing like a lion," she barked. She sat down abruptly taking it upon herself to educate this little lion. She feared men, but small lions were fine, after all who ever thought of a lion taking advantage of a Wild dog?
"We're...smaller of course, and usually scavange off of other people's food. But for the most part we're just a creature as you are. Any questions?" Like my name?! she smiled, she liked children they were more inicent than adults.

Wahabu flinched when she pointed out his rudeness, resisting the urge to duck or flee. He didn't mean to be so rude, but he just wanted to know what she was. He opened his mouth to correct his question, but she answered him before he had a chance to say anything.
He'd never met a wild dog before, and it was clear they were nothing like lions. Wahabu stared with wide eyes and his mouth hanging open as she continued. He snapped out of it when asked if he had other questions.
"I- I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be rude," he apologized quickly, "I'm Wahabu, who- er- what's your name?"

"I am Kijicho, Kiji is just fine, are you wandering alone?" At his age she was fearless and the thought of being fearless scared her. She was fearful of everything and often walked around during the night instead of wandering during the day.
The trick that was played on her had devasted her, her lover had taken their only son, /her/ only son and had run off with him, what was she to think? He destroyed her confidence once, what was stopping anyone else from doing the same? She wanted a child, but the thought that if she had a male it would be as cruel as the male she had met before reentered her mind, that and she knew she would need to be with a male.
"Wahabu is a good strong name," she added and smiled awkwardly.

Wahabu stared silently at Kijicho when she introduced herself for a couple seconds, almost hesitant to reply. He wasn't nearly as anxious around her as he was with most girls, it was possibly because she was obviously older- like his mama, he was fine around her.
"Yes," he replied finally, "I'm exploring.."
He was a bit surprised by her comment on his name, but smiled, "Thank you, I like your name, Kiji."

"Find anything interesting?" She barked a laugh again thinking that the Pridelands were incrediably dull, and at the same time perfect for a scared little wild dog. Her laughter was often eerie sounding and almost hollow most of the time she reserved her laughter but chidlren brought out the best in her, even if she scared them.
Looking at Wahabu made her think of a child she may have had roaming around the lands, if he was adventurous as this one..? He would be much older than the cub infront of him, but that did not stop Kijicho's mind from hoping.

"Not really," he murmured in reply, a bit intimidated by the strange barking in the laughter of the Wild Dog. Kijicho was a strange creature, but she seemed friendly enough. With a little hesitation, he continued, "I guess I found you, you're interesting.. "
Wahabu nodded and leaned over, taking a moment to get a good look at Kijicho as a whole instead of just as the strange canine head. What a strange shape and tail Wild Dogs had.

If Wahabu had said she was a strange creature Kiji would have full heartedly agreeed, she was indeed a strange creature. But interesting was something she did not think she agreed with. "I am as boring as they come, kid." she thought of all the uniquely colored wild dogs, "There are some that have fur so thick that you can not see thier frame! They look like giant balls of fluff!" she chuckled, this laugh less harsh.
"I have not seen a lion cub in quite sometime...or anyone else for that matter. Tell me what do you do around here for fun?" She had decided that the little cub was not a threat but her posture still seemed worried and tense.

"But you are!" Wahabu argued, not because he thought interesting was a good thing to be but because it was true to him, "I've never seen anything like you before. You'll be more special than if I ever see another wild dog, even one of the puffy ones. Lions have lots of fur, I've seen that before. Baba has a bunch of fluff around his head."
He nodded matter-of-factly, almost as if he expected that Kijicho did not know this but it was more out of his desire to show he knew something, and to prove his point.
Even if she didn't agree, it was true to him.
"I explore, mostly," Wahabu said without much hesitation, "Sometimes I play with other cubs, I've seen a couple around here and mama says there are lots."

"Well, thanks for making an old ladies day," this time a barking cough followed. She was going to be nice, even if her desire to be rude and short was slowly creeping up, she was uncomfortable staying in one place just a little too long.
"I am sure, from what I can remember there are many lion families here, and of course lions usually live in large families. Wild dogs sometimes do not...I am alone, no pride or family," she paused and thought of changing the subject, "What is a Baba?"
Being alone was Kijicho's choice, the tan and brown wild dog had run off after getting pregnant her heart felt sore everytime she thought of that subject, but of course it was the truth. She flicked her tail back and forth and it made a soft rustling noise against the grass.

"Why don't you live with a pride or family?" he asked, frowning curiously at the wild dog. Wahabu loved his family a great deal, not counting his sister, and couldn't imagine living without them! Why wouldn't Kijicho want to have the same?
"Baba?" he repeated, surprised by the sudden change of subject, "He's my father!" The little lion nodded matter-of-factly, as if it were common knowledge, "He's big and blue, and has lots of black fur around his head."
