So what if Sheridan had found someone else? Ardia had thought that alot. She wasnt sure how they had come to part ways for so long; she had been down about Meena leaving the Village ad had gone wandering herself for a while. When she returned, Sheridan had been nowhere about - gone back to the mountains after their children had grown? She didnt know, and as she stared into the heart of the flames of the Village's main fire she knew that if he had left her for another mare she would be heartbroken.

Often at night sheridan had looked up at those glittering stars and had felt comforted that underneath the blanket of the night his love was safe. He hadnt wanted to leave her for so long but as the autmn chill had began to seep into the land he knew he had quiet over stayed his absence.

The chocolate stallion with a mane of ebony quietly walked towards the village where Ardia could often be found. He had seen both Kitara and Takoda in the months since they had left the village to strike out on their own. He wondered if Meena had done the same, leaving Ardia all alone. His heart ached at the thought that she had been left alone, and he blamed himself for leaving her.

His tail lightly flicked against the tall grasses as he passed them by, pooling behind him like a liquid shadow that was forever chasing him. The Village was in sight and he could hear the drums in the distance. Closing his eyes he resolved himself to his heart and stood there for a long moment... in all honesty the stallion was scared, scared to face his love after being gone so long and scared that she had perhaps found another.

'Sheridan,' she spoke his name, fancying that in the shadows of the burning branches and the patterns of the dancing flames that she could see his name. Maybe..she really had to know. After all - what if something had happened to him on his way back here? Everything was unknown.
She couldnt stand there anymore and turned, walking slowly, heading for the outskirts of the Village. She would go into the mountains, and find him.

His warm brown eyes where focused on the village before him, and the slender moving shape that was moving away from the firelight. For awhile the stallion stood there, transfixed. Biting down on his lower lip he watched her, waiting for perhaps another to rush to her side and join her.

No one came, and the winters chill that edged on the autmn's breeze only served to remind him how long he had truely been gone. Swallowing any fear her had, the stallion began to walk forward. Dappled rays of moonlight washed over his fine chocolate coat until at last he stepped from the shadows all together.

The silver moonlight played along his coat as he looked towards the mare, who was now only a few feet to his right. "Ardia..." he said, the only words that could come from his throat. Everything else was lost to him, all the words he wanted to say seemed as if they wanted to come all at once and had gotten stuck. Try as he might, that was all he could manage to say.

Fear..and caution nailed Ardia to the spot when she noticed the shadowy form moving towards her. The scent of the other wasnt carrying towards her but from the size she hazarded a guess that it was a stallion.
When he emerged, into the light that the moon was casting her heart almost skipped a beat. Could it really be..?
'Sheridan.' she managed, and then virtually tripped over her hooves to rush to his side.
'It is you,' she whispered, her nose and lips gently snuffling and lipping at his face.

Tears of joy filled his eyes, like some wonderful dream his love was by his side once more. "I have missed you." he managed to say as she lightly carressed his muzzle and lipped at him. He returned her gesture full heartedly. She was here before him now, as he had dreamed every night she would be. His heart sang with every word she spoke and every gentle warm caress of her fur against his own.

'I missed you so much.' she murmured into his mane, the hairs tickling her nose a little. Ardia moved, arching her neck and resting it against his, before moving so that she stood next to him, flank touching flank, tucking her nose under his chin and blowing air softly through her nostrils.
'I am so happy to see you again.'

Sheridan closed his eyes as her body caressed his own, such a simple thing that he had longed for all those nights alone. It was as if some ethreal dream that she was here with him now, that she had returned to her side and she was pleased to see him. He nuzzled against the top of her head as she tucked her slender form under his chin. "I've missed you as well...It has been far too long. Every day that I was gone my heart ached stronger to have you by my side, you where always on my mind. " He said to her softly.

'You were gone so long,' Ardia gently chided, enjoying the sensation of his sides gently pushing against her as the breath flowed in and out of his body.
'I began to think..I feared. Maybe you had met another. Some brave mountain mare who could follow you up rocky paths.'

"I was, I was gone far too long. I knew that you where under the same blanket of sky as I was, and that is what kept me going. I have see Kitara in the mountains, and Takoda as well. It seems that they have taken after me a bit..." he added with a chuckle, though he lamented that they had left their mother behind.

His ears flicked a bit as she spoke of her fears, and Sheridan dipped his head to nuzzle against her softly, her velvet coat caressing his nose as his ebony mane fell as a veil against them. "I would never leave you for anyone. Even if she was the strongest mare in all the land and would follow be everywhere... My heart knows only yours. " He paused for a moment before confessing..." I also thought you might have found someone else in my absence. Someone who would sit by the fires in the village with you... "

'More adventurous then their old mother it would seem,' she said, a faint smile on her mouth. She lipped gently on Sheridan's mane, tugging it gently as she stood with him.
'I would never. There is no one else who speaks in quite the same way as my silly Sheridan,' she teased, bumping him gently with a shoulder.

Sheridan chuckled softly and nuzzled against her, never wanting to let her go. He wanted to stay in this moment as long as he possably could. "It would seem so. " he said with a laugh. "Though Im sure they will come down from the mountains soon. What about little Meena? I havent seen her in quite a long time...." he frowned suddenly, wondering what had become of the quiet girl.

His heart skipped a beat at her words, though he had always known deep down, under the doubt that she would never have found another. He put his ears back for just a moment in mock offence. "Silly, Me? I think you have the wrong stallion In mind. " he said before he broke into a smile and nuzzled her.

'Meena did the same as you, and our other children. She went wandering.' Ardia nodded at his words.
'I hope so. I want to know what my little ones have been doing. Even though I can no longer call them that it would seem.' she chuckled, trying to keep a lightness in her words.
'Oh, are you sure?' she teased again.
'I think I remember a stallion that courted me with pretty words and dancing hooves.' her tail gently swished from side to side as she nuzzled him back.

Sheridan flushed lightly at her words and he chuckled softly. His chocolate coat ruffled softly as he nuzzled against her and his raven locks swayed over his shoulders. "Yes well, I will always have pretty words for my pretty lady. " he said softly. "although my words will always pale in comparison to anything that might leave my mouth, no matter how sweet."

Ardia lipped Sheridan gently, thoughtfully. A stray night breeze caused her to shiver a little.
'Come back with me to the fireside? It is a little cold out here, despite me being warm in my heart from seeing you once more.'
