#7 Squirtle Interesting Fact: According to Time magazine, Squirtle is one of hte more popular original series characters Pokedex Entry:Squirtle are small, bipedal, blue turtles with brown shells and distinctive clublike tails. Shortly after birth, their backs swell and harden to make them more resilient towards attacks; most objects will bounce right off a Squirtle’s shell when force is applied. The shell’s rounded shape and the grooves on its surface also allow Squirtle to swim at high speeds with minimal resistance. When feeling threatened, Squirtle withdraw their limbs and their long necks into their shells and spray water from their mouth with great force, either to attack their opponent or merely to intimidate it. This ability is also used to stun prey while hunting. Owned By: Laodevil (P), Zyderic, Foo~Piddly

#8 Wartortle Interesting Fact:Wartortle's Japanese name derives from Kame, the japanese word for turtle! Pokedex Entry:Wartortle is a bipedal, indigo-blue turtle with a brown shell and a long, furry tail and ears. It is more aggressive than Squirtle. It hides in water while hunting and emerges to surprise its prey, and is a tough Pokémon that often has scratches on its shell which serve as reminders of past battles. To maintain balance while swimming at high speeds, Wartortle moves its unusual furry ears and its tail. This tail, covered in rich, thick fur, is so long that it sticks out a bit even when Wartortle withdraws into its shell. It uses the fur to store air for extended underwater diving. It is a popular pet, as it is long-lived. Wartortle, and in particular its tail, is considered a symbol of longevity. As a Wartortle ages, algae may grow on its shell, and the color of its tail fur deepens.Like many Pokémon they have a tendency to become corrupted if mistreated. Corrupted, or Dark Wartortles often have negative attitudes and hide in their shells in a bad mood--which is often. Owned By: Laodevil

#9 Blastoise Interesting Fact: A blastoid is an ancient sea dwelling echinoderm with a protective shell. Pokedex Entry: Blastoise is a very large, blue, bipedal turtle that can extend cannon-like spouts from the top of its shell. The cannons are used to fire blasts of pressurized water at foes, and can spray with enough force to pierce concrete walls and thick steel. They are also highly accurate, allowing Blastoise to hit small targets at distances of over 160 feet. However, Blastoise is unable to aim at short distances [3] as this handicap was shown in the battle between Ash's Charizard and Gary's Blastoise. They can pump out enough water to fill 3 Olympic swimming pools within one minute. In order to withstand the recoil of its fire, Blastoise positions its feet and plants itself with its considerable weight, which it has cultivated for this purpose. The ferocity of its attacks has caused Blastoise to be described as a “brutal”, and even its normal attacks, like waterjet-assisted tackles and crushing heavyweight body slams, are completely devastating, even though the creature is reasonably lightweight and fast compared to the "real" heavyweighters of Pokémon. When it does feel threatened by something, it withdraws into its shell for protection. Owned By:

#10 Caterpie Interesting Fact:Caterpie’s name is derived from the word caterpillar. “Kyatapī” is how the Katakana is pronounced. Caterpie was also the first Pokemon Ash ever captured on his own. Pokedex Entry:Caterpie is a relatively weak Pokémon, but like many real caterpillars it employs biological adaptations to help it survive. Its green coloring allows it to hide easily in foliage, and the eye patterns on its head serve to scare away predators. That failing, it can release a sticky liquid from feeler on its head, as those foolish enough to touch this antenna learn the hard way. Its short feet end in suction cups that allow it to easily climb on any surface, no matter how steep. It uses these to climb trees and satisfy its voracious appetite, even feeding on leaves larger than its own body! When it has eaten enough to fuel its growth, it sheds its skin, covers itself in silk, and becomes a Cocoon Pokémon, Metapod. Caterpie serves as the main prey of Pidgey, Spearow, and Taillow Owned by: marius1011, [Night Angel], Posiaz, darkshadow5392 (P), Brayden (P)

#11 Metapod Interesting Fact: Metapod’s name is probably a combination of “metamorphosis” and “pod”. Also metal can also play in, due to its hard shell. Its Japanese name, Transel, is thought to be derived from the prefix “trans-” and “cell” (as in biology). Pokedex Entry:Metapod appears as a large, bright-green chrysalis, and only its eyes are visible within. Inside, Metapod’s body is very weak and tender, making it extremely vulnerable while its shell is still soft. Although the shell quickly hardens to the toughness of an iron slab, Metapod is still at risk, as a harsh impact may damage its soft body inside or even cause it to pop out. For this reason, and to conserve energy, Metapod barely moves, instead preparing itself within its shell for its impending evolution Owned By: darkshadow5392 (P), Brayden (P)

#12 Butterfree Interesting Fact: Butterfree’s name is probably a combination of butterfly and free, but may also be related to its Japanese name,Batafurī. Butterfree is not to be confused with Beautifly, a similar butterfly Pokémon indigenous to a different region. Pokedex Entry: Butterfree is an attractive butterfly Pokémon with large red eyes, a dark purple body, two hands, and two feet (instead of the six legs real butterflies have). Its white wings are covered with a toxic dust, which also makes them water repellant. This lets it fly in even heavy rains, something that many real insects and other Bug-type Pokémon cannot do (see Masquerain). In battle, it flaps its wings at high speeds to release the dust into the air, weakening the opponent with a variety of ailments so that Butterfree can either flee or continue the battle with an advantage. Butterfree also has a rather startling ability to use moderate telekinetic and telepathic powers. Butterfree feeds by collecting honey every day, flying from flower to flower, and rubbing the honey onto the hairs on on its legs to take back to its nest. It is capable of sighting blooming flowers as far as six miles away from the nest. In the new Diamond and Pearl versions of the game, female Butterfree have an extra black marking on each of their lower wings. In the anime Butterfree have a mating season just about when summer is about to end. Each Butterfree must find a mate and cross the sea so they can lay their eggs. Some trainers free their Butterfree so they can lay eggs. Owned By: darkshadow5392, Nereh (Chihaya), Brayden

#13 Weedle Interesting Fact:The Advanced Generation drawing and sprite design of Weedle was created by Ken Sugimori’s team for Pokémon FireRed’s 2003 release on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance.[3] Pokedex Entry:Commonly spotted in the forests and grasslands, eating leaves, it is well-protected from predators by a sharp two-inch barb on its head which secretes a strong poison, and another stinger on its rear. Sniffing with its big red proboscis, Weedle uses its extremely acute sense of smell to find the types of leaves it likes, avoiding those it dislikes Owned By: hennajin (P)
