Chuakari was outside the central Duma'bara lands, despite everything that had happened and the knowledge that all was safe when one was closer to all the others. She was by what she decided was her favorite spot, when she was alone at least, and that was the small waterhole that Uri had brought her to as a cub when she first heard of the coalition. Staring into the water, she was thinking about everything that had gone on lately, especially about Hasidi.
There was so much on her mind, and all of it had to do with Hasidi. She thought about how Laio had reacted when she'd shown up with Hasidi, how she cared about their well-being but never seemed that comfortable with the lion being around. She thought about Kika, and what he'd told her, what she'd been so happy to hear. She questioned her happiness at his words, but always came back to the same answer. That answer was the source of many worries, and those rippled through her mind as she quietly watched the water before her.

The earthy red lions eyes twinkled as he looked at the female that he adored, that he bragged about, and above all the one that he loved. Of course he had the inability to tell her such things, but that was fine. had wandered around following Kari's scent and when he came across her he was elated and wanted to spill his heart at that moment, do bad the bumbling dolt didn't know the words to say.
"Why does a pretty cheetah look so sad," his voice was shaky and uneasy, but he felt bold for saying she was pretty. He stood and started to walk slowly toward her, his left hind leg still held the all to familiar limp. But other than that he felt healthy and alive. His dark red mane in his eyes; he had not noticed his passage from adolescent to adult hood...the attack...well it had taken much out of him that he was unsure of. His goofy grin was stretched across his face, he worried, but he did not want her to see it.

The pink cheetah was lost in thought and didn't notice Hasidi arriving, and if she did subconsciously she knew him not to be a threat and let herself keep watching the water. In any case, Chuakari was not startled to hear his shaky voice call out to her. Her ears flickered and her head turned slightly to look at him. It was when she got a good look that she smiled- he looked much better than usual, like he was finally getting better. Like he would be fine after all.
One less worry.
"Hasidi," she greeted him, ignoring the question and the shaky, uneasy tone of voice he used. Kari did not want him to be sad, or uncomfortable, "You- you look so much better.." She trailed off, smiling at him, though not without a hint of her concerns showing. The healthier look made his beautiful mane more obvious, made the grin that masked his own worries more effective.

He was not going to tell the reason for his swift recovery, not yet. It was something he would have to work into, an angel had visited him he was sure of it. She was a pure white lioness..that was not a lioness at all.
"Really?" He swayed his step slightly looking oddly like he was trying to strut, but it was hard with his limp, "You look..so..so.." the cream of his cheeks started to match the color of his body, "beautiful..with being so sick I didn't notice you fully, I am sorry for that." He looked down swiftly his heart pounding, could she hear his heart?
"We should talk, shouldn't we?"

Kari watched Hasidi's swaying step and her smile became more genuine, and less worried. She stood up and turned herself about to face the lion before settling back into a seated position. It would not do to merely turn her head in his direction! Then his next comment came and she knew if she hadn't turned around it'd be easier to hide her face. If she could blush, she would, and she glanced downward.
"T-thank you," she murmured before glancing back at him, her nose still pointed down and a smile still on her face, "I'm glad you're better.." And she trailed off again, leaving him room to put forward his suggestion. Her heart skipped a beat, and she was sure it showed in her face as she lifted her chin back up and looked at him.
What did he want to talk about? What did she want to talk about? Several possibilities flew through her mind, and all she managed in reply was a nod.

He couldn't see the blush in her face, but her eyes told a different story; he was sure that he could see a twinkle of embarrassment, or at least something to that effect. He was sure that his own gaze held that same look he was embarrassed and terrified she would not understand what he had to say.
"I met my friend Shairi, and she is pregnant with a lion's cub," he looked down as he spoke, "She looks like you..but has spots.. I thought that..well... since it is possible and okay for lions and cheetahs to like each other that it is okay for me to l..l..l.." he couldn't say it, couldn't get the word love out; positive that it wasn't going to come he just stopped talking.
What could he say, he wanted her to love him? He also wanted her to know he wanted a family like Shairi's, he wanted to see the endless water, and wanted to see the sands that never end.. and of course the sand that was soft enough for a cub to sleep.
Tell me, please tell me you love me, because damn it all I love you!

Kari visibly started when Hasidi mentioned Shairi's pregnancy. She recognized the name, for he'd mistaken her for the other cheetah when they first met. It was the fact that she was pregnant by a lion that surprised the small pink cheetah. She knew the facts of life, but apparently missed on the information that lions and cheetahs could have cubs. It seemed now that nature agreed with her and Kika!
As Hasidi continued, Kari felt her heart flutter. She'd never felt quite this way before, suddenly the little cheetah that always tried to get for others what they wanted, tried to tell them the things they wanted to hear, was getting the things she wanted, was hearing the things she wanted to hear. At least, she was almost hearing them. The elation she felt surely showed in her eyes.
Another worry less, and all others were momentarily forgotten.
Hasidi had found some reassurance for loving a cheetah, just as Kari had for loving a lion. She still hesitated, trying to decide how much she wanted to explain or if she would just outright say it. Hasidi looked so befuddled, she just could not make a long speech out of it.
"I- I love you, Hasidi," she murmured, daring to believe that was what Hasidi wanted to hear and that she was getting what she wanted. Her purple eyes flickered away from him, but she forced herself to look at him, not wanting to seem embarassed.

She...she said it?! For a moment he was quite sure she could read his mind and see into his soul. He was embarrassed, not for her reply but for feeling so afraid. The earthy red male heaved out a heavy sigh and a smile spread across his face, one that did not resemble the goofball smile. Hasidi had never felt real love of another, he loved Tisha out of necesity, and Tafari as well, but he had never chose to love someone.
"I love you too, Kari, even if you're pink," he slid the joke in their to lighten the feelings he had inside.

For a fleeting moment, Kari started to wonder if she had gotten it wrong, but she maintained eye contact to the best of her abilities and relaxed when she saw him smile. It was a different smile, she could see that, but it meant something different, something new. Her own smile brightened and she got to her feet.
She gave a short laugh at his attempt at a mood-lightening joke, but then moved forward and buried her head in his mane and nuzzling him affectionately. For a moment, she was without words and without worries.

"N-n-now..what has the beautiful pink cheetahess been up too?" He smirked emphisizing pink. He loved her color and wished that he was as bright a color as she was. His earthy fur and brown-black legs made him feel like he was not very flashy, and nothing to look at, "I want a word for word account, don't leave anything out!"
He flopped down into a laying position whimpering and looking uncomfortable because of a leg. But he was extrmemly comfortable he got something off of his chest that he had held for some time.

When Hasidi flopped to the ground, Kari settled in with him after turning around a bit so she would be right beside him. He was warm, fuzzy and much nicer to lay with than anyone or anything she could recall. She kept her head nuzzled against his mane while she thought about what she had done and what he might like to hear about.
"I met another cheetah, one who isn't in the coalition, and we were talking about love," she murmured quietly, "It's because of him I realized how I felt, and that it was ok.. just like what you said about Shairi." Kari glanced over to him and smiled.

Heat rose again in his face and he thought of her nuzzling against him...why had he moved away from her...? And then she moved closer and he was asure that Kari was okay that she didn't take him moving as an offense. The moment her body touched his the heat shot from his face down his body.
A different heat rose through him as she said she spent time with another cheetah, this time of jealously. Another feeling he had never felt in his entire life, and as soon as it came it left..she said he helped her choose Hasidi, he would have to meet this cheetah and thank him.
"I was scared you would not want me," he whispered taking in the effect her closeness had on him.

She could almost feel the jealousy in him after she told him about her encounter, and she stifled a giggle. Hasidi was so adorable, and now he was hers. She'd always be able to enjoy him this way, and now it was official that they would stay together. They'd been pretty much living together since Hasidi'd been attacked anyway! A happy warmth spread through the small cheetah, and she turned to look directly at him when he announced his fear.
"Me too," she replied in the same quiet voice, admitting that she'd been afraid of rejection as well instead of a more usual attempt to dispell any such ideas from the other. There was no point, and now was a much more honest, together moment.
Kari sighed and rested her head on Hasidi again, reminded of her last worry. They'd worried about the other not wanting them, but was now a time to worry about others not wanting them together? It might ruin the moment, but in the end they did need to talk about it.
"I don't think we should stay here," Kari murmured almost inaudibly, part of her was still unwilling to admit it but as long as Hasidi was with her she would be fine.

Wait, she was afraid too? Why would anyone reject her? Just being beside her made Hasidi happy, and if she did not return his love, but she had, he would have been content to being her best friend for life.
He hid his amber orbs behind eyelids and sighed he wasn't sure what she meant about having to leave..but what was wrong with here? had he misheard her? Or did he simply not understand..?
"why...where..what?" The fear griped him that she would leave because of his stupidity...everyone always said he was not bright.

Chuakari felt Hasidi tense beside her, and she knew it was probably a strange thing to have brought up right now. It was important, though. He must know why, deep down, even if he couldn't figure it out right now. Of course, there was a naive part of him that might not admit it.
"Don't you remember how Laio reacted when we saw her?" she asked quietly, managing to speak louder but still not very confidently, "I don't know how they'd feel about us, or us staying here.. Could you live here knowing they might not like it?"
Kari cared a lot about what others thought, cared too much about it in fact. She knew that. She frowned, knowing it was selfish. If Hasidi wanted to stay, then she wouldn't make them leave..
