It was hard, well no impossible to explain to Nova the reason why there weren't many bugs around during the winter months. They had after all either migrated somewhere warmer, died and left behind eggs to hatch when it was warm, or maybe... did bugs hibernate? Either way there were very few around and those were the ones that lived in the house. While she found some interest in the scorpions he had it was only a mild interest. They were of the aracnid family after all and not of the insect family which is what she preferred.
So upon the advice of his mother he found himself where he normally wouldn't want to find himself. He was in the mall... there were far to many people here, he was walking along as carefully as was possible to make sure that he didn't bump into anyone so used to having a spiny arm. They were headed to a specific location, the pet store. Apparently there were sometime insects sold there to become pets along with the fish, bird, and various other animals that people liked.
If he were lucky he would find some that Nova like, insect pets/friends to distract her until the weather warmed up and the wild ones returned. Please... please let him be as lucky as that.
Nova's eyes were HUGE as they walked along. They rarely went out due to neither of them doing well in the cold weather but when Daddy decided to take her out he really took her out to someplace amazing didn't he? So many people! Her blue eyes darted back and forth between the people, the stuff, the shiny decorations and lights having to do with a holiday she didn't know about, Christmas. It was all so overwhelming here. So while she clung to her father out of shyness her curiousity seemed to be getting the better of her at the same time. This was much, MUCH better then staying at home!
(( Editted this slightly, due to his Fa'e nature now that Bhel and Mitsu, his and Aylana's son and daughter have been born he's become fully human. So he looks a bit different now. Will work on getting a pic sketched up when I can. ^_^ ))

Centers for shopping inevitably attracted Blaed and with the man also came an infant named Metis who was in her stroller habitually gnawing on one of the straps that held her in the stroller. The strap she gnawed on was obviously her favorite and it showed by the bite marks and the deterioration.
The young man was pushing the stroller along through the mall. They had explored nearly every inch of the mall except for the pet store. Blaed paused for a moment in front of the store and then shifted his shoulders into a shrug as he pushed the stroller and himself through the open doorway. He pushed the stroller into an out-of-the-way spot and took up his daughter into his arms. Anyone stealing a mostly broken stroller was a very sad person indeed, Blaed reasoned. The man didn't really feel like trafficking the stroller through the aisles and people.
Metis quietly reached up her upper arm. Now deprived of her chew-strap she played with her father's hair. With mild disinterest her golden eyes gazed over the store from her vantage point. Blaed moved forward and began looking over various pets and items in the shop, "Would you like a critter to care for, I wonder?" he murmured as he peeked into a small plastic cage that held hamsters.
The small Guardian gave no response and merely peered at the rodents as well with what could be described as baby-sneer.

Lucien moved along down one of the aisles, pausing to look into the smaller aquariums at the things running around inside. Brightly colored lizards but they seemed to scare Nova, could be the fact that they ate bugs, so they didn't stay near to those cages to long. The fish were a little better in catching her attention for a moment before something else caught her eye, the sound of singing. For a moment she almost thought that it was a crickey before they got close to the birds. There were a rainbow of differnt sorts of birds in here, and they were able to hold Nova's flittery attention far longer then the fish had. It was a combination of their voices and their colors that did it.
Soon enough though they were moving on, searching once more for that elusive thing that would make the perfect pet for Nova. A moment later from her happy squealing it would seem that they had found it. Lowering down Lucien looked into the little case that had her so excited and found two pretty colored... somethings inside. He looked to Nova, "Those what you want?" He asked, then lifted up to look around for someone to ask about these particular insects when his gaze crossed a couple of familiar faces, "Isn't that Blaed and Metis?" He murmured, then remembered that when he had met them Nova was still in her crystal form, "Maybe we should go and say hello?"
Nova's gaze let the insects that she wanted so badly to talk with to see what her father was talking about, then let out a very loud sound of greeting! It was someone new that was her size! Yay!

So enthralled with tiny creatures was Blaed that he didn't really hear or notice the presence of Lucien and little Nova. Metis was less than interested in the tiny creatures in their little pens and thus she was looking about and paying attention to other things, and still the babe had not noticed Nova and Lucien until there was a happy baby-squeal that caused both Metis and Blaed to turn and face the other pair, but sadly there was an aisle between them.
An obstacle easily navigated around, "Is that you?" Blaed asked as he moved toward Lucien and Nova. The young man had certainly changed since the red headed man and child had seen him last.
Metis stared at Lucien with a tilt to her head and then she noticed the baby in young mans arm and it caused her to blink. A small baby-child much like herself! Only the other baby had fewer arms and had blonde hair. Thus Nova had suitably gained the attentions of Metis, "Hi-ee?" the infant voiced with some difficulty, but it was a greeting all the same. The four-armed baby had no idea what to feel or think about the other. Though perhaps she was tasty...? Nova did certainly smell nice!

Lucien walked forward, closer to the man and gave a nod, "Yeah, its me." He said, smiling some, "Been a while, how have you two been?" Blaed and Vin had been the first two and so far only two that he had met that had little Iridae like he did so getting to see them again was a pleasure especially since he wanted for Nova to get to know those or her own kind. She spent far to much time with just his family so making friends would be good for her.
Nova's gaze was solely on Metis, head tilted to the side. She lifted up a hand to wave at her, smiling brightly the wings on her head giving a buzzing sound as they fluttering rapidly, "Kya!" She said in greeting to the other girl.

Shopping. Syrie wasn't particularly interested in going out and being around swarming throngs of adults and their clamoring-for-attention children...but Ruka did need a few things of his own - things that Syrie hadn't picked out for him.
That was why, on that day, the kitsune found himself carrying around a small, amythest winged-Iridae child around the busy shopping center.
It was only force of habit that brought the mint-haired demi-human into the pet-shop; he couldn't help but find himself wandering places like this. He and Veloren, one of his older sons, usually were the ones 'browsing' the 'inmates'.
Imagine how surprised he would be bumping into other Iridae-parents and their children!
Ruka, meanwhile, simply watched the world with wide silver eyes. This place was like home...only all the animals were in cages, not roaming around freely and avoiding his chubby little hands that liked to clench and hold.

"It has been a while!" Blaed said cheerfully, "I have been alright. Just taking care of Metis and working as much as I can. How have you been, friend? Is the little beauty in your arms your...?" The redhead trailed off on his last question leaving the last part unsaid as he nodded toward Nova. A curious expression appeared on Blaed's features because after all when he had last seen Nova she was nothing more than a crystal with a crack in it with some mist-smoke coming out of it.
For the moment Blaed hadn't noted the presence of Syrie and his Iridae child as he was currently playing catch-up with Lucien.
Metis tilted her head at the response and parted her lips to copy it, "Ky~ahhh?" she repeated back. Motion caught her attention as she was copying Nova. Soon her golden gaze lifted from Nova for a moment to peer over at Ruka and Syrie. She blinked a little staring for a brief moment at Ruka mostly because much like herself (and Nova) the child also had wings. Metis soon looked back at Nova to see if other babe had seen what she had seen.
