"Alexiel!" A grey-haired woman growled in frustration, but her only audience was the air. She had told the girl, her girl, to stay inside today, but Alexiel had vanished earlier in the night. Alexiel was very unpredictable, obedient and quiet one day and chasing boys or butterflies the next. Tonight there was no room for childish foolery. Father had told them very little, as always, but a lockdown was always for their own good. With the spattered raids coming down from Feretris and the occasional resuce operations that followed, these lockdowns were common but necessary. Alexiel was old enough to understand that when she was in her right mind.
The grey-haired mother couldn't search far for her daughter. After she had adopted Alexiel from that foreign, blonde-haired woman, her role in the Anjts tribe had expanded exponentially. That meant that today she was clustered with several other mothers and children of over half the total tribe, and generally in charge. But because of the Anjts' nomadic nature, other mothers and children were in lockdown heaven-knew-where. She only hoped that Alexiel had found one of these cells to spend the remainder of lockdown with.
Somewhere between the children and Feretris, a group of make Anjts clustered at the base of a few outlying trees. Some of them were the fathers of the raiders, disapproving of the risk their sons took but painfully proud of their misguided bravery. Here they waited for the raider's return, as well as whatever prisoners they might release from Feretris. They had already acceped a long defecting gaurd led to them by the raiders earlier that night. They waited for something more substantial, perhaps knowing that the raid must be in progress at that very moment.
It was still dark, and they could only wait there, mounted on their horses.

Alexiel knew quite well the risk she was taking by not being with her fellow tribe members during lockdown. However she was plagued by this growing need to explore these people. She had spent many nights, on foot, wandering around outside of Feretris. And now, while the raid was underway, this sudden urge to watch the people came over her.
Knowing well the way, she followed the paths that led back to the city, her heart was racing, her pace began to increase, and eventually, she was all out running. Nearing the out lying cityscape she jumped over a fallen tree and with a soft thud, she lingered low to the ground behind the cover of bushes. She could hear them in the distance, the light from their torches resting softly on her face as she looked onward towards where the raid had been taking place.
"...what am I doing here..." She mumbled to herself as she turned away from the light and looked into the dark surrounding treeline. Backing herself against a near by tree, lifting the veil of her cloak, she closed her eyes and rested her head upon the rough treebark.

As a bonfire-bright-light burst into the invisible night sky, a scout caught a glimpse of Alexiel in the bushes. This was a woman on a horse, so it was possible that she was an Anjts tribe member or a Feretris slave-driver. In Feretris, only specialized calvary rode horses, unlike the horse-centric Anjts. Either way, Alexiel could be in serious trouble if she was caught.
"Hold!" the woman commanded as pulled closer to Alexiel. The light behind the woman was steadier now, so that flickers of fire caught at the outlines of things. Her voice was stern and confident, but there was no telling whether she had any useful sort of weapon aimed at Alexiel.
"Stand up out of there!"

Not expecting such a command, sudden shock poured over Alexiel as the demand of immediate obedience rang out. Squinting in dismay she rolled her head as she rose to meet whatever force beckoned.
Several pale locks slipped out of her hood as she removed the veil of darkness from her face. Dancing flames reflected a diminished sort of illumination upon the area, the light of which meerly rested upon her right cheek. In the darkness it was difficult to make out the tribal tattoos that seemed to creep up along her jawline. Alexiel's eyes, a piercing ice blue, staring upward to meet that of her newly appointed authority figure. Managing no excuse, she simply stated in her almost threatening glare, that alone, she would dominate her actions.

"A child," the woman hissed to herself. "What are you doing here?" Never mind that. "Get up behind me!" The woman swung her horse around in the unsteady, distant lighting, and pat her beast's rump for emphasis.
She seemed to think that Alexiel would obey her, despite the look that the child was giving her just a moment before. And as her horse danced sideways and forewards in a hasty turn, thick-lined paint shown in circles on the rump. An Anjts.

Alexiel sighed heavily and resigned herself to join the woman, rather then cause a scene that might get both of them in trouble. Considering the location, she was actually kind of happy to have accidently gotten caught tonight, at least this way she'd have a good view of the fighting.
Reaching up to grap the edge of the sadle blanket, bending her knees in preparation to jump, she hoisted herself up onto the back side of the horse. After getting settled Alexiel glanced to the townscape, she smiled grimly to herself, knowing in her heart that she would face a sort of disgrace for her obvious mockery of rules and regulation of the tribe.
Sighing once more, she tugged on the edge of her hood, lifting it over her shoulders she strouded her face in darkness once more.

Her rescuer rode fast through the darkened trees so that it seemed a miracle that they did not go splat against them. It was not long before they reached the spot she intended, where Lilith and the sound of several horses awaited them. There were more horses than before the attack had begun, by the grace of the Anjts. Warm impatient snorts greeted them.
"Do something useful," she commanded as they slid to an abrupt spot. "Help this woman."
A light appeared behind them as a torch came to life. Lilith held the torch high, so that she could see the new comer, and so that the new comer could see what they had at hand. "Chose a heavy horse. Mount," she commanded. "Injured may need help riding back, and I suspect that they will be here soon."

Her mind was focused else where as the branches swept past her face. She smiled to herself as a low lying branch nicked her cheek sweeping the clock from her brow, several soft bright blond ringlets braced into the wind. Her hair was always wildly dancing around her face, it was a wonder that she could make sight enough during the day, much less the night.
Reaching their destination, she dismounted from the horse gracefully. Nodding to the command while walking briskly over to a woman who had two horses by the reins, she found a large black steed. Taking the reins she lifted them over the horses head and patted its neck softly. She knew not where she would end up this eve but she liked the direction that they were headed. Progress, without suffocation.

The older woman waited in impatient silence. Their horses were still compared to the woods around them, which was suddenly filled by the excitement not just of regular beasts of the night, but also of otherwise dinural animals woken from their sleep, not to mention the beasts of legends that could be lurking within arm's reach.
“Come closer,” she whispered to her charge, nervous because of the tingling feeling spilling down her back. “Are you strong in the touch?” she asked, meaning magic. Although most Anjts had some appreciable amount of magic good for day-to-day or emergency use, those with stronger talents could sometimes feel the presence of other magics close upon them. But for the inexperienced with this ability, the regular nervousness of the body could confuse the sensation. With an even lower whisper, she explained, “I think a fae may be watching...”
Flickering fires in the distance through the shadows of trees across each other like a basket weaving by a blind hand. What might appear to be movement near by was just as likely to be a trick of the nerves and of strained eyes.

A fae? That would have been better for them.
Roused by the commotion the humans were creating, and comfortable in the embrace of shadows, a chimera crept close to the waiting Anjts party. To the Anjts it was the symbol of sin, a misfit creature created practically on accident in an attempt to rival the mighty dragon, unicorn (which sometimes have wings), and phoenix that were born of the heavens. Its front was of a lion, which eyed the horses hungrily, its middle of a goat, and its back of a dragon.
After preying on the farm lands of ToK for many a decade, the chimera had crossed over the mountain range into the plains lands and Feretris. Although word and rumor had certainly spread to the Anjts, the Demere had been the first to spot and confirm the existence of the beast. Being that the Demere do not use horses as often to fight and hunt, it was their livelihood that the chimera threatened; any small herds they had or followed, and the Demere themselves, their children and older adults. So, although the Chimera did not seem to attack them often, the attacks were memorable, and some took it upon themselves to hunt the thing, alone or in groups.
As yet, no one had succeeded, and the horses of the Anjts party were getting mighty nervous.

The area around the Chimera light up like festive lights blazing on a holiday. A solid thunk could be heard before each earth shaking blast. In total six bursts could be seen, then nothing.
A dark figure dressed in what looked like a makeshift armor arose from the ground nearby. "There that blasted thing is!" The stranger exclaimed as it tossed something to the ground and whipped a massive object to his side. He then grabbed a similar object that was hanging from his belt and jammed it into the strange object.

A shudder went through every horse in the area as a gaunt, pale figure appeared out of the trees. His near-white features and hunched walk identified him as Gale, a face that would be familiar to many Anjt. His translucent eyes traveled over everyone present, lingering over each person with a look of hunger, or maybe longing. He nodded slightly, silently to the gray-haired woman. He recognized her, but couldn't quite place her name.
He stood there, still hunched but now staring fixedly at the broken twigs and leaves beneath his feet. His red cloak rippled gently in the night air, hiding his lips behind its high collar. Nobody could see him mouthing words to himself as he waited for a command. Very few Anjts ever wanted to hear anything he had to say, so he settled for re-telling his thoughts to himself silently, the only conversation he had.
Tonight, he told himself how much he wished he were somewhere else. He asked himself if he could run away, and told himself no. Not tonight. Too many people tonight, and the man with the poorly made armor had power. He made an entire chimera disappear, not even just the lion part, which would probably have been enough anyway. The star-fallen could take that away, but that would defy the purpose of running. So no, not tonight...

(Okay, I think I waited a decent time for Dark to post. I'll just make due.)
Tesunie stumbles in, tripping over a rock as his horse plodded near him. He was backing up when he tripped though the bushes. He now laid there, back against the ground looking up at the other people from the ground. His good clothing were all dirty and dusty now. "Um, hi!" Was all Tesunie could muster to say at the moment.

When Tesunie fell, Prothel almost panicked. "Wait here," he quietly instructed Geffry. Prothel jumped next to Tesunie and stepped in between him and the two girls, who he didn't trust even though he was sure they weren't from Feretris.
"I'm sorry if we interrupted anything," Prothel said nervously, "My name is Prothel, and this is Tesunie." He thought he could see Geffry start to step down, so he gave him a warningful glare. Better keep Geffry out of this until we know it's safe, Prothel thought.

"I'm fine. Thanks for asking." Tesunie jokes, smiling at Prothel. He starts to lean forwards, getting off the ground. His hand goes for the back of his head, checking to see if he cut himself or something. "That certainly wasn't a pleasant trip."
