I have noticed that in many of the popularity poles and fav. character threads that no one ever mentions Regal. I thought I would just ask. Or is it possible that he died and no one told me?

I've noticed that myself.

And Regal is so very, very emo.

And he's over THIRTY so of course nobody's gonna like him. But everybody's absolutely infatuated with Kratos. Who's not thirty, but almost is.

So? Age dosn't matter. And besides he dosn't really fit the criterea of a emo. Emo's are generally depressive and pessimistic (right?), if anything Regal is darkish but it is as if he speaks with a religeous zeal. Albeit his love relation thing was a bit cheesy but we shouldn't put him down just for things like that. He is, in my opinion, a interesting character who deserves more credit.

True he wasn't developed much, but dosn't his stoic manner balance out the cast just a little? I mean yeah he isn't hot (I am not sure though. Im a guy so I don't know what the "hot" criterea is) and he dosn't laugh much, but if he was like the other characters that would just be repetetive. I suppose to like Regal you have to think out side the box just a little.

It's an appearance issue there. Kenshin is thirty, but if you compare his and Regal's appearances, you can tell who will get more fangirls. I've met a few Kratos fans who don't like him because of his appearance, but I'd still avoid any topics of the sort. There'd probably be quite a few fangirl-type comments in there, and not as much actual discussion.

The fangirls don't care how old Kratos is. He looks less than thirty; so that's enough for them.



I'm not entirely sure of the "hot" criteria myself. I like the characters that have interesting personalities over an attractive appearance (my all-time favorite character is a suit of armor xd ). Plus, fangirls/fanboys tend to contradict themselves, so trying to figure out an overall list of criteria is pretty difficult.

The reason I don't like Regal as much (he's a neat character, but he doesn't make top three or anything) is probably because I have a tendency to like characters who, while they're smart and typically serious, can be completely goofy at times. It especially helps if the character's being completely serious and doesn't seem to realize that what they're doing is weird or funny (like Raine's Ruin Mode). Regal's not all that funny (well, okay, that comment about cooking with his feet was funny, but that was deliberate).

he IS on the home page of the guild. but I still see your point. I agree that he wouldn't make top three, but that's no reason to cut him out completely. (Though there ARE a limited number of answer options for polls.)

My personal belief it that Regal was intended as a voice of sanity in the game, and as a serious, logical foil to characters like zelos. He doesn't 'goof off' too much because it's not his role in the game to do so.

He also is a major player in the sub-story of Presea, which is the entire reason she's such an appealing character to me. The sub-story, not just regal's involvement in it. (plus, Gesea just flat-out rocks) Then there's the whole little sub-boss in Welgaia, with him and presea AGAIN, and that wouldn't have worked with anyone else.

So I guess my message to all Regal-haters and even the Regal-slightly-dislikers is thus:

Regal may not be the hottest, youngest, or most fashion-sensitive guy in the game, but he plays a major role in a couple of serious plot wrinkles that add even more emotion and depth to the game.

I suppose and by the way SWEET PICTURE!!! I had no idea they had one like that! That one should be on the home page. But it might not fit, so they should add Regal considering the picture they have on front uses pics from the art book and Regal could easily be inserted.
