I've asked myself why I should role-play, but when I took my PLAN test today (the test you take in preparation for ACT) I realized that RPing helped my reading skills. To be honest, a lot of the RP posts I've read are pretty boring, but I read them anyway because I have to. When I took my PLAN test, there were some passages I had to read that were major sleeping pills. So I realized, there are some plus sides to Role-Playing.
1. It improves reading skills. As you go through the RP and read peoples posts, (assuming they spell right) you're vocabulary and spelling improve dramaticly. I can't tell you how many people who took our PLAN tests didn't know what "omit" ment rolleyes
2. It opens your mind to new ideas. When I first started RPing, I was really bad at it. Not only do your RP skills and writing skills improve, but some people can influence you to think outside the box. Kowtastic has a VERY vivid imagination that kinda weirded me out, but he and I get good laughs about it back home.
3. You learn to listen. Role-playing helps you with your patience and willingness to listen to others. Even if it just "pretend," it still gives you good skills for real-life problems.
4. It helps you type better. Seriously, I'm still a chicken-pecker, but I'm learning thanks to The Wake-Up Crew's Role-Playing Ebonics Lesson (all who know what that's from can raise their hand!)
If you guys think of another reason to role-play, go ahead and post it in here! We'd like to convince ALL of our members to role-play with us. Our first ANBU RP has reached 10 pages now, and an intense fight is brewing and secrets are being revealed. Lots of fun. I hope you all enjoy it!

It's also a good way to help you learn to communicate with people. I've met lots of people through rping.
Another good reason is that it helps you learn to tolerate difficult people. Well, at least that's what it did for me.
Roleplaying also helped me to channel my emotions in a way I didn't know before. It helped me through a lot of difficult times, as well.

RPing helps me vent my anger, and it also helps me develop story ideas for the story I'm currently writing.

RP is good for lots of things- venting feelings and whatnot.
I have a 98 in English. I credit RolePlaying for that score. We're reading the Glass Menagerie, and I read the entire first naration things... it's tough reading, but I did it without a problem. Once again, I thank RolePlaying. :'D
