A sign hung upon Scarlett’s trailer door. “New Performers sign in here.” Scarlett would eventually have to deal with the performer’s papers, make them sign the usual contract where the fine print was certainly fine.

Inside Scarlett faced her vanity mirror with a grimace upon her fresh face; her reflection taunted her with a look of disgust. Make-up dotted the table while patiently waiting in their tubes and twist tops. Her fingers tinkered around with their tops, brushes swiped across her face and finally her right cheek was topped with a beauty mark. In a matter of minutes her face had certainly been put on. Scarlett was now ready to face the world from behind her layered mask of powders, lipsticks, and eye shadows. A crimson robe hugged her body, it’s satin lined edges loosely hung at her shoulders, revealing the thorns she had been cursed with. At this time no neck ruffle was in sight, no gloves adorned her arms, she was exposed. Her ‘unique features’ apparent, small vines crawled up her pale hands and neck as if they were a freshly pasted henna tattoo. They were certainly not tattoos, but part of her, just like the rose that adorned her head. ..She was now somewhat prepared to face the usual gawking new comers who wanted to question her appearance.
No she wasn't part of the freakshow!

It had been at least an hour after he'd left Dahli to her business with Aiden. Charlot was curiously looking for this, 'closed in and smelly sleeping arrangement' he'd been given. He weaved his way thought the trailers, looking for any signs that labelled the respective quarters.

He passed Scarlett's, pausing at the additiona of 'New Performers sign in here', below her name. Now here was something useful. Again, he put out his cigarette and stepped up the ladder-stairs to knock politely upon the door.

There was a knock..Oh! It took only few seconds for the fact that someone was knocking on the door to penetrate into Scarlett’s mind. The rapping sound startled her; she slowly pulled away from the mirror and in a trance turned towards the door.

“Come in, door’s open.”

Her eyes gazed at the door, anxiously awaiting the visitor.

Ah, so Scarlett was a woman. That was nice. Was this circus full of GIRLS?! ... Again, not that he was complaining mind you.

Charlot pulled his hat off, pushing the door open a little so he could peek inside. He offered the heavily makeup'd woman in the trailer a smile, expecting the bizarre appearance and taking it in stride.

"S'cuse me Miz, I'm Charlot M'Queen- just joined your group. Sign out front says we're meant t'meet." He extended his hand out to her, remaining in the front of her trailer.. .should she find the need to banish him from her personal quarters.

Women had a strange inclination to be friendly one second and 'no touchy' the next.

“Oh, bonjour?” Scarlett sat up straight in her chair, a smile inching across her face in response to the stranger's somewhat withdrawn entry. “Come in, never seen you before. Fresh meat I assume?” She continued with a jesting tone, her pungent expression slowly dissolving. Somewhat hesitant, Scarlett sauntered over to Charlot and took his hand with a one gentle shake. “Ah, ouioui.” she opened her arms out offering him a seat and ambled back over to her chair. “Just a few papers to sign...” Her French accent was becoming more evident as she continued on.

Charlot followed her over to the chair she'd offered, sitting down comfortably. He placed his hat on one knee, turning his attention to her.

"Yeah, fresh meat-" He grinned at that, sharp eyes narrowing slightly as he casually studied the jars and vials of makeup behind her. Interesting.

He glanced back at her, pulling out the few papers from his coat pocket he'd recieved elsewhere and offering them to her. "This is all I 'ave so far, if it 'elps you any Miz Sca'lett."

Charlot sat back on the stool, eyebrows raised as he waited patiently.

“Ha, yea…” Scarlett let out an edgy laugh. “It’s going to be hard work at first, but it’s worth it in the end” Somewhat worth it, Scarlett did in fact love the crowd cheering her on when she worked her magic. But now a days she started to wonder if they really knew what they were getting into, Scarlett pondered the thought whenever the new comers came bounding through the door.

Before glancing over to the papers that Charlot held in his hand, she reached for something that looked like blood. “Ink.” She assured him before getting up and walking across the trailer to desk cluttered with papers, setting the crimson bottle down upon the wooden surface. “Oh! Mr. M’Queen? Do you care for something to drink before we start? Tea, water...whiskey?” After working in a hotel for a few months, Scarlett was always keen on offering beverages. "There are quite a few things we need to go over..." Scarlett had been in charge of the performer affairs, the bills and basically all the paper work.

"Ah, a girl after me own 'eart-" Charlot murmured, turning to watch as she went to the desk. "Whisky sounds perfect."

He shifted so he could see her better, eyebrows raised at the clutter. She must've handled a lot of the paperwork for this place.

"Do'ya need me t'move elsewhere.. or-" He wasn't sure if he should move his chair to the desk or what. The ink caught his eyes, reflecting the light from the room and appearing like blood. Odd comparison, he thought to himself.

“Sure thing. “ Scarlett nodded, pretending she didn’t hear his first remark. She crept down by the desk, when she stood up again two glasses and a bottle of whiskey were hanging loosely from her hands. “People least expect me to drink, but I have my days,” Her hand was shaky as she poured Charlot a glass without even inspecting it for dirt.

“Nah, stay where you are, unless you really want to be by my side.” Smirking, Scarlett emptied out the bottle of whiskey into the 2nd glass and turned to a jug adding tepid water. “I don’t handle alcohol well.” Her lips rested upon the glass’s edge and she took a sip. Scarlett drank like a child who had been peer pressured to taste the bitter liquid; but she simply coughed and returned to the desk. “So, what’s your act?” She asked now hovering over a mound of papers, dipping a quill into not red but black ink.

"Thanks," Charlot accepted the glass, uncaring if it were dirty or not- it was full of whiskey. He downed about half, before looking back over the rim at her.

"Well, I'm pretty good with a whip... I know a little about knives." He turned the glass over in his hands, swishing the liquid around idly. "With some time, I c' probably work up somethin with both. I can juggle- move, lift, and build things. Pretty 'andy with a 'ammer." He shrugged, finishing off the rest of the glass.

"For now, call it whips and knives."

“Heavy lifter...Set up tents, scoop up elephant crap.” Scarlett said in a quiet voice as she scribbled away. “Whips...are you one of those people, you know? Who like doing it with...stuff like that?” Her eyes grew wide. “I mean, I was just curious. You never who you get around here.” Underneath the white face paint Scarlett’s cheeks were reddening. She twisted around and took a deep sip of the whiskey. Sometimes Scarlett asked things that were meant to be only thoughts, but they often escaped and left her in a tangle of things. “ANYWAYS, come over here.” The black ink was capped off and the red ink was opened. The faint smell of decay lingered in the air and the quill was now waiting for Charlot.

Charlot looked up, eyebrows raising slowly. A grin crossed his features as he stood to walk over to her. Such a question from a lady- he couldn't help but be amused.

"Well, that all really depends on the situation-" He replied, setting the glass aside and leaning down where he could take the quill from her. He flashed her a smirk, winking as he took the quill and looked down at the paper.

"Would you like my full name, or initials?"

“I see...” As discretely as possible, she inched a bit away from him. “I hope you won’t resort to those tactics. I’m sure some of the audience enjoys those kind of...pleasures. But a majority of them don’t, so don’t go try and do something funny!” Scarlett announced with a hint of bitterness in her tone, but lightened up a bit when he took the quill. “...Someone bound me up in my sleep, bad experience that’s all.” Her cheeks felt warm as she remembered the whole situation, it was quite embarrassing when a certain someone had to release her.

“Full name please.” She responded with a sigh of relief, beginning to stand up, she steadied herself on the desk and slipped under Charlot towards her vanity.

Charlot glanced up, one eyebrow raised as he looked dead at her.

"Oy, no worries Miz- I wouldn't dream of taking advantage of anyone in that sort of si'chation. Those tricks are better left off stage, if y'know whata mean."

Sad, about her bein' attacked an all, he thought to himself as he returned to the paperwork. He barely scanned over it before scrawling his name in elaborately unreadable handwriting. The ink smelled horrible and he was eager to put the pen aside and stand again.

"I 'ope I didn't offend you any Miz Scarlett- not my intentions at all." His dark eyes narrowed again as he turned around to watch her at the vanity. She had a strange vibe to her- like the weird trailor he and Dahli had passed earlier in the night. "Is there anythin' else I need to sign?"
