Do any of you have PSP? I use it instead of Photo Shop, and together with Corel Draw it does me everything. What are the advantages of Adobe Photo Shop? I am not sure if I have seen any one here mention PSP, so does that mean none of you use it or even have it?

Click to show.I use it, and personally I think it is a gazillion times easier to use than photoshop. Photoshop seems to be more commonly used though, as there are more special tutorials for that program. Hmm. The advantages of photoshop....I guess you can have more access to tutorials, and there are more modes for putting effects in a graphic like feathering, outer glow, etc.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. That's because PsP is user-friendly. Photoshop is made more for people who know extremely advanced techniques for retouching and drawing. At least that's what my friend has said. He's in college for graphic design. domokun

My sister was so good, a graphic design company took her straight out of high school. pirate

She said something about how she uses adobe's next step up from photoshop. It was something like "adobe InDesign", if I recall from peeking over her shoulder. =P

EDIT: Linky.

I've never used PSP before... I've used Photoshop and InDesign before, and yeah, PS and ID are a bit harder to navigate around. It's not really user-friendly (InDesign isn't, I can tell you that!). Despite the whole non-user-friendly-ness (definitely not a word), I like it. I've used it for years now and the only advantage I can think of right now is the whole feathering thing, plus the fact that there are so many special tutorials out there on the 'net. sweatdrop

I use Paint Shop Pro 7. I find it a LOT easier to use than Photoshop. The last time I've used Photoshop was when I was 8 though, and I didn't really do anything other than splatter little butterfly brushes around. ^_^

I've got Paintshop Pro 9, myself. I've found ti to be a solid and reliable program for what I use it for. It's also interestingly less resource hungry when I compare it to Photoshop on my system.

I use Photoshop because that's just what I was introduced to. I don't have a reason besides that because I am a novice graphic designer.

it may be a gazzilion times easier to use but that desnt mean its better. photoshop has far more advanced features which become very usful when youve mastered how to use them.

I have PSP7, and it is very streamlined. No long loads, which for me, is a must.

I have a copy of Paintshop lying somewhere in the house though...

i've used both. psp is good for animations. currently i have photoshop cs2 on my computer. the only different thing that i don't like about it is that unlike psp, there's not a lot of different paintbrushes, unless you know you're way around to make your own style. photoshop is obviously good for editing photo's hence the name. during high school i took commercial art which used both photoshop and psp. but to do my special backgrounds for my wide screen i use bryce 5 with photoshop.
