Most of Kauta's time now was spent resting, which (much to Mteule's chagrin) bored the young adult out of her mind. She was used to being up and wandering around, meeting other pridemembers and visitors, being with friends and making new ones.

So instead of lying around today and waiting for others to wait on her, she was up, attempting to go about her normal, daily routine.

The only difference was that instead of walking, she waddled.

By now she was well into the tail end of her pregnancy, and knew instinctively that the cubs could arrive at any moment. She guessed she was carrying three or four; knew rationally she wasn't as big as some, but certainly felt it. She hadn't quite gotten the hang of moving gracefully with the added weight, and soon found hunting to be quite impossible.

Perhaps Mteule had had a point when insisting he do the hunting for her. She could wait, though. Awkward as it was, she was relieved to get up and stretch her aching muscles, and lap water from one of the many tributaries that ran into the larger river further onward.

A lithe young lioness, teal in her colour, was making her way towards the same small water cropping that the brown lioness herself was at. When she suddenly noticed that the other lioness was there, she jumped back a moment.

"Ah...sorry..." she siad quickly, hoping that she wasn't intruding. She wasn't sure who was who in the pride yet, and didn't want to rub anyone the wrong way. "I didn't realise you were there..."

She noticed quickly that this lioness was seemingly pregnate. It would be odd to see such a naturally plump lioness in any other state, but she wouldn't mention anything outright. Wow....she thought. I wonder if I'd get that big? She gulped, nervous about it. Bakari wanted kids..but to have things growing inside of her? It just seemed all too creepy.

Kauta didn't notice the other lioness at first, so intent was she on her own actions. It was the sound of her voice that brought Kauta's attention to her, and she sat up, wondering how she'd missed the bright teal-colored lioness in the first place.

"Nothing to be sorry for," she assured her with a smile. "You're not disturbing anything. New to the pride, are you?"

The teal lioness nodded. "Yes, ah... just a couple days ago, actually. Still getting used to this...pride life thing."

The brown lioness seemed kind enough. She relaxed, and inched her way back to the water. She bent to take a quick drink. Once finished, she raised her head up again. "I'm Latifu. It's nice to me you, ah...?"

Well, she didn't know the others name. She looked like someone Latifu should know but...she was clueless on the identity.

"I'm Kauta." The brown lioness bowed her head once in introduction. "Nice to meet you as well, Latifu."

One of the cubs decided it didn't like the position it was in, and proceeded to kick in an effort to turn itself around. Kauta winced, more startled than hurt. It was an odd feeling, one that gave Kauta the shivers if she thought on it too long, and she couldn't wait until the cubs were born so that she could go back to being her old self again.

"Mm, sorry about that," she apologized, in case Latifu had noticed. "The cubs... they kick, sometimes."

Latifu's ears perked up, curious. Cubs? Wow! And wait...Kauta? Geez, she was meeting all the important people right and left. She wasn't sure what to say, so instead she offered a deep bow before speaking again.

"Oh, Kauta....Bakari told me about you. Such a pleasure to meet you!" Her voice squeaked at the end, and she flushed. Where had her strong-willed personality gone when she was just a cub? She hoped she would fit in well with this pride, without having to change. She already felt different, but hopefully it was just nerves.

"And cubs? Aahhh, congratulations on the children, then." her ears flicked backwards in a nervous stance. "I'm sure they'll be lovely."
