Wii.
No doubt.
Dont get me wrong, I love my PS and it's my first choice but parents will buy the Wii because it's $300 compared to the $400 - $700 for an Xbox or PS3.
Plus its got the internet capabilities as well and is compatable with the gamecube games.
Even with the wierd controller, you can attach a nunchuck thing for driving games.
And it's graphics measure up to the regular nintendo standards so you can still play the beloved Zelda games without burning your eyes out.

DUDE! so last night ppl started lining up at our local best buy for the PS3 that comes out friday.. the line was decent sized tonight and its only tuesday... eeek.

My preference is the 360 but I pretty much agree that the Wii is going to be this Christmas' favorite console because of the price, the old Nintendo reliability and everything... If money was no object for me I'd rock out with the 360, but I think that I may end up getting a Wii first. The price of the PS3 killed any chance it had with me.

I'm not in a rush to get the PS3 but if an opportunity presents itself i'm snatching that console and runnin like a crazy person.

I see it this way: The PS3 are for Playstation junkies. RPG mainly, since XBox is catching up on strategy/sim titles, and has some good racing stuff. XBox is strong in sports and shooters. The Wii, well, it's way cheaper, has games that are just plain for fun, and it works for me, as someone who doesn't play a lot and wants to just enjoy it without a big committment. Nintendo is playing it smart.
I noticed that FF XII was parallel launched on PC. Looks like even Square-Enix isn't betting the farm that Sony did it right with the PS3...

Well, we were talking about getting a Gamecube, so a Wii might not be too bad. Nintendo's got some pretty good games.
HOWEVER, XBox seems to be mostly Shooters and Sports games, and neither interest me, so it can just die. xp
Playstation has had a lot of good RPG's so it's a shame that it's so darn expensive. gonk

Personally i like the fact that Sony decided to opt out of making those stupid boomerang controllers standard and went for the classic PlayStation controller, with a twist. The optional motion sensor control built into them is nifty. Personally I don't see the 360 as anything more than a more expensive XBox with slightly better specs. They haven't changed much about the system and the graphics are good, but they aren't even close to the PS3's. Wii's control style gets my opinion slightly muddled. Though there are great games coming out for it, Twilight Princess and Smash Bros. Brawl to name a couple, so did the GameCube and it didn't really keep much of an audience except for the smaller gamers and hardcore fans. Nintendo has almost always had the lowest priced console, so the fact that the Wii is cheapest still doesn't put it anywhere for me. I'd really like to see the PS3 succeed but the price will have to go down for that to happen in my opinion. Which, shouldn't be too difficult if the hardcore gamers buy out the first few shipments. Sony will be able to drop the price and not lose too much. Give it a few months and the technology to build them will become cheaper as well, almost forcing a price reduction in order to keep customers happy. I think it'll be a few months before any of us can really determine where this current console war will go.
