Hiya,
I think this probably belongs in a computer science guiild which I couldnt find none via guild search. anyway, can someone recommend me a good text book that covers all the basics and smoothly moves to more advanced topics? Thanks a lot!!

My roomie has a book called "Mastering Algorithms with C" by Loudon. I think it's part of a series. I have a feeling he has another book - algorithms in Java - by the same publisher (O'Reilly).

While I'm not into CS, I learned a lot from Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming. Whether or not it's appropriate for you depends on just how basic you need to start with (Knuth is best with some background in mathematics), but even if it's not immediately useful to you, I would think it would be a good resource in the future should you continue to pursue CS.
