Remember learning about them in high school?

Just wondering if anyone else was finding certain literary device more prevalent than others in their novel.

Personally, I find myself using a lot of similes, hyperbole, and alliteration. I just love alliteration, but only if its subtle.

I'm really big on similies and analogies. Metaphors are there too somewhere, I'm sure. Also, I'm a huuuuge fan of onomonapias, with Squelch being the best word in existance. There's probably an oxymoron in there somewhere too, since they amuse me to no end.

I mean, there's probably so many literary devices in everyone's writing, even if they don't know what it is, or whether it's there or not. Writing would be damn boring if there weren't any devices used.

I love metahors and similes. Especially the stupid/wierd kind, i.e. "The airplane soared through the air exactly like bricks don't." Or "Her hair stood out from her head like jets of energy being propelled away from a spinning supermassive black hole."

Alliteration tends to annoy me if used too frequently, but I find it creeping in sometimes.

Haven't even thought about those yet. In my rush to determine plot and events, and get the word total, my writing has been REALLY plain.

Normally, when I take my time writing seriously, I would say I use a lot of similes. Probably too many. -_-; Other than that, probably no particular favourites.

Edit: Oh yeah, and alliteration has to be subtle. Otherwise, it just sounds cheezy. XD

Alliteration is one of my favorite things ever. I came up with something yesterday that I think is going to go into my book, even though it has nothing to do with the story. It just sounds nifty. It goes something like this:

Forsooth!
Say unto me that the supreme sultan of Sushba (don't ask) will speak to send a swift spork to the skins of the swine who so selfishly sent their selfless servant sallying forth into a sea of solitude...

Yeah...Normally I'm more subtle, but I was in a bad mood yesterday and was trying to cheer myself up. I'm also a fan of metaphors, but I think analogies are my strong point. I use them all the time in my normal speech as well as my writing.
