I figured I may as well post the first quote, this one has helped me come to terms with the doubts I have had in my faith, and it always makes me feel better when i worry about things. Quote: We think having faith means being convinced God exists in the same way we are convinced a chair exists. People who cannot be completely convinced of God’s existence think faith is impossible for them. Not so. People who doubt can have great faith because faith is something you do, not something you think. In fact, the greater your doubt the more heroic your faith.

I used to be big into Native American spirituality. These are a couple of quotes that I lived by (and still do live by)... Quote: "The Old Men Say--The Earth only Endures. You Spoke Truly--You are Rght." ~Sioux Song to overcome fear Quote: "Many Paths lead through the Forest, But They All come out on the other Side." ~OnistaiPoka

Summer Harvest
I see in spirit that all are hung I know in spirit that all are borne Flesh hanging from soul Soul clinging to air Air hanging from upper atmosphere
Crops rushing forth from the deep A babe rushing forth from the womb.
- Valentinus (100AD-155AD) Early Gnostic Christian Mystic
Summer Harvest is nothing less than a stylized evocation of the whole metaphysical and physical world, in seven line of verse that hover between philosophical cosmology and pure poetry.
He means this: "flesh" according to them is matter which "hangs from" the "soul" of the demiurge/craftsman. "Soul clings to air": i.e. the craftsman (clings) to spirit of the outer fullness. And "air hangs from upper atmosphere," i.e. the outer wisdom (hangs) from the inner boundary and the entire fullness. "Crops rush forth from the deep," having become the complete emanation of the aeons from the parent.

Hedge123 Do'h! You beat me to making this thread.... crying Anyway- quotes. "Ignorance is the parent of fear."-Herman Melville Not religious, but pertaining to this guild, anyway. that's definatly relevent! A lot of people are afraid of different religious sects, and it is only due to their ignorance of what they actually stand for.

D.H. Lawrence Quote: It is a fine thing to establish one's own religion in one's heart, not to be dependent on tradition and second-hand ideals. Life will seem to you, later, not a lesser, but a greater thing.

Ah, I should have posted this one earlier, from the Gnostic Christian poet/artist William Blake:
"There is a throne in every man, it is the throne of God"

My favorite is from John 3:16 of course. "For god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son and that those who believe in him shall not perish but shall be granted eternal life." That is the NIV version. I don't wanna drudge up my KJV because you can't get the meaning without reading it 5 times over.

Quote: Every man and every woman is a star. ~Aliester Crowley, Book of the Law 1:3Quote: For God doth know that in the day ye eat therof [the tree of knowledge], then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. ~Genesis 3:5 Quote: We are as gods and we might as well get good at it. These three quotes explain quite well how humans are able to use and control magic.

Quote: When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open and love steps forth to heal everything in sight. --Michael Bridge Quote: Don't pray to escape trouble. Don't pray to be comfortable in your emotions. Pray to do the will of God in every situation. Nothing else is worth praying for. --Samuel M. Shoemaker Quote: You are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in. No [one] is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know is going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or goals, it's always because these dogmas or goals are in doubt. --Robert M. Pirsig Zen in the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance Quote: I won't take my religion from any man who never works except with his mouth --Carl Sandburg Quote: Prayer is not an old woman's idle amusement. Properly understood and applied, it is the most potent instrument of action. --Mahatma Gandhi The Book of Positive Quotations by John Cook Quote: Prayer is light; charity is a proof; patience is illumination; and the Quran is an argument for or against you. Everyone starts his day and is a vendor of his soul, either freeing it or bringing about its ruin. --Mohammed Quote: Hate the sin and love the sinner. --Mahatma Gandhi [Mahatma] India nationalist, spiritual leader I thought those ones were all pretty kool. 3nodding
