Will the sword accessories actually count as weapons in the game? If so I'd imagine their prices will go up, or most new players will be fighting barehanded. What current weapons or other wearable items do you think will matter if they have battle stats?

Avatarus Will the sword accessories actually count as weapons in the game? If so I'd imagine their prices will go up, or most new players will be fighting barehanded. What current weapons or other wearable items do you think will matter if they have battle stats? well, i have been in some serious discussions with very 'knowledgeable' people so here is the general info regarding your question: No, weapons will have no special powers what -so-ever. you could have a cupcake equiped as a weapon for all they care. the basis of all of your stats are strictly based off of the rings that you equip to your avi (you should have at least heard of this ring concept, if not just tell me and i'll fill you in). they have done this so that you can make your avi look how ever you want it to without paying a price (i.e. if you really like the mage look but you want you avi to be strictly a sword fighter then you can do that) all skills and abilities are provided strictly by the rings. so, one could conclude that no items will rise in price any different than they normally do because they serve no other purpose than to 'pretty' you up hahaha ^_^!!! do take in mind however, that this may change based off of gaia's response to this idea. so nothing is set in stone yet- but the concrete is certainly drying fast. if you have any questions feel free to ask away inn this thread and i will respond as fast as i can ( i get on just about every day so you won't have to wait very long). that's all for now ^.^!!!

But will the weapons have any "special effects" that are just for show, that have nothing to do with your stats and abilities? Like will the staffs glow, or a soward that has animated flames and such while you swing them around? Anything at all like that? gonk

What current weapons or other wearable items do you think will matter if they have battle stats? well i think they probly will concidering that in barton thare selling a baseball bat for alot of money and it donsn't do much for looks so the only reson i can see for makeing it cost so much is if it was going to be a wepon and probly the basic wepon to in a suspect that thare probly just gonnna give pluses to your attack and what-not

For one I am glad that what the Gaia Avis have on will not have an impact on the the BatSys game stats. Despite my collection of MC weaponry and armor I would rather it be free stat modifications. I will also be free to custom tailor my appearance to what I think a character with the skills I am using should look like.
The idea of a Weapon and Armor shop is an interesting one. Tin/Wooden swords and Pillow/Rusted armor would work well as basic shop items. If some of them had the appearance of L.A.R.P padded swords and fake plastic armor I would find it humors. Nicer looking items should come at decently high cost, on par with the 11000 Musketeer items and such.
I regularly change my avatars appearance and I'd rather not have my BatSys layout tied to the items I have on. The Ring System makes a good deal of since and is more in keeping with Gaia. Also backdating ALL or even some of the items on Gaia to have BatSys stats would stall release even more and likely lag the site as they go about updating the items. The Rings will be easier for them to track and tweak as balance issues come up.

Speaking of the rings, I wonder will they appear on your avi as items and if they do will they be just as poorly visible as the promise ring that you can get right now.

Perhaps they will be wearable but I expect they will be about as visible as the other jewelry. You'll also probably be only to wear two at at time.
Although it would be cool if you could buy additional positions, such as on a chain around your neck, as a hair clip, lapel, or floating in the air.
