This show has a high body count, sweatdrop and many heartbreaking departures from Teri to Edgar. crying
If you could save one character who would it be?
Mine would have to be President Palmer.

president palmer kicked a**! but so did nina! she was so evil, and a clever enemy for jack, unlike alot of the villans who were quite thick. i liked george mason too. too many characters have died!! but id probably choose Tony.

yes michelle died in the car explosion early on.. then tony died later on when that b*****d killed him.. tony was contemplating whether to kill the person who killed his wife..

That is COMPLETELY wrong. That is not how Tony died. In season five, Tony prepares himself to kill Christopher Henderson, with a needle full of something. He had second thoughts and then Henderson woke up and grabbed Tony's hand and stabbed Tony with the needle in his heart. Henderson ran away and Jack finally reached Tony and Tony died in his arms. His last words were 'She's gone Jack'. Jack cried. I cried. All the fans cried. 24 was about Jack and Tony. *sigh* I would want him back and Nina.

My initial thought was TONY! I really liked him, he has so much more character than Curtis. But I guess that he'd decided he wanted nothing more to do with CTU, and since Jack's already dragged back in every season, we can't really do that to another character as well.
I loved Mason, but his death was so cool, I'd prefer him to stay dead. Also, we have Chloe as the comic relief now, and I wouldn't swap Chloe for anyone.
Palmer was awesome, but I think his involvement was over anyway. When he was brought back in season 4 to help Logan, it was just about plausible enough, but they couldn't keep doing that over and over again.
Nina was a great villain, and a good match for Jack but again, it would have become boring and predictable if she was somehow involved in the terrorist plot eeeeeevery time.
So my choice is Ira Gaines from season 1. I liked his wittiness, and as a mercenary he could easily return from time to time, just like Mandy.
