I've noticed lately that there are Fables that come out exactly as the Fable they represent. This... really isn't right. I know there are some things that are confusing, but us at Fables would really like to see the Fables grow into their Fables, not be their Fable exactly as they are kids. This isn't the point -- they're supposed to realize who they are, and as they realize, they become.
I hope this isn't too confusing, but it's been nagging at me for a while. One does not become a 'hero' without a quest, as in fairy tales. One does not simply be, they become. If you simply are, what point is the quest?

Yeah, I sorta noticed that. So, if the kid's fable were, let's say, Moby d**k, would the kid have an item, or be dressed in a costume, instead of having a tail and blowhole?

What of those of us who had to draw Fables where the Fable has ALWAYS been a certain way? For instance, Apalala has ALWAYS been a Naga. Some of us can't exactly just change that about them. Especially if they've been what they are throughout the course of their actual lives, into the Fable that made them famous :/;;;

@ Zee: Yes. Or it could have smooth, white skin. Take Scalulh for example - the actual Fable was of a monster, but I started with her having the skin, just like in the story. x:
@ Shouko: Yes, but the main point is that the actual Fable KIDS are BECOMING the Fable. n_n;; It doesn't matter that the story has them that way, as the Fables aren't the actual story - they become it. Hope this isn't too confusing. ^^;

D: I know, but Apalala starts out as a Naga, and than turns into a dragon in his actual story o_o;. So wouldn't this still be ok?
