I saw there wasn't an episode 5 discussion thread yet.

Here are my thoughts (quite literally) on this episode (May not be in the correct order):

Does he only have one n****e?
I wanna see all the flashback!
OH wait, he does have 2 nipples.

...
...
...

Heh, ******.

Get it right ******, her mother isn't picking her up this Roy fella is. If you're gonna ******, do it properly.

That ****** gonna get whats coming to him...

...
...
...

Jack's gonna end up doing that 90 year old lady.

I should post these thoughts on gaia.

...
...
...

Yeah Gwen, it's not police work!

Yeah Gwen, it's not science!

...
...
...

Ewww....

Heh, dead ****** old lady friend died. Stupid cat. Someone that stupid deserved death.

Ewww, Jack's gonna do necrophilia...

...
...

What was Jack doing in 1909 (conning someone i'll bet.)

He has a thing for joining the army doesn't he...

...
...
...

That fight is so fake, our fake fights in English and Maths etc look real-er than that, and they're... actually quite painful...
...
...

They don't look at all like what Jack decribed them as, with all that corner of the eye stuff...

Now they're green. How silly.
...
...

YEAH, WHAT ELSE COULD HE DO?!?

I liked this episode. It had a good, creepy atmosphere, some interesting themes, a rather intriguing look at Jack's history, and another example of the kind of effects that time travel can have on those around the traveler. However I agree that the fairies would probably have been better if you hadn't been able to see them properly. They were still good, but I think that something like that becomes a little less scary once you're able to actually see it. Then again that would have been pretty difficult to do.

Why does everyone always post my thoughts before I can?? gonk

And can someone explain why the fairy things ripped up Gwen's flat? I didn't quite get it...(my dad came in and started talking to me crying )

My thoughts at the start: Is he naked? Really? And why is Ianto still creeping around at night...?

I think it was an attempt to prove a point. She and the others had encroached on their territory (presumably the same reason why they killed the old woman), and she in particular had shown a lack of comprehension and respect for just how powerful they were.

Oh my GOD. I LOVED this episode. The best one so far, besides the pilot. Everything about it I loved. I do agree with ya on that I kind of wish they hadn't showed the faeries, but still, it was cool. And now I'm starting to wonder even more about Jack's past and how old he is. Maybe he tried to get back and ended up a lot earlier than 2005 or 2006, and has had to actually live through all that time. Otherwise, why would he bother to be in a command position for so long? Anyways! Still, I loved it, and the acting was awesome. To me the plot made sense. The faeries were trying to scare Gwen by going to her house, imo. Even though this one wasn't as action packed as others, I still REALLY REALLY REALLY liked it.

Loved this episode. The whole flashback scene at the beginning with him all panty and flustered was more then enough to earn it five stars, but aside from that a totally awesome episode.

I enjoy the way this was written, and the damn faeries should've looked different, because i really couldn't see a child befriending those ugly bastards.

I was a little upset though, there wasn't the "Gwen/Jack" moment at the end of the ep like usual.

I'm not sure what to make of this one. I mean... it was pretty good, once I got past thinking of it as "Captain Jack vs the Fairies". I appreciate it trying to be a twist on a creature from folklore, but c'mon! When you think fairies... intimidating is not the first word that springs to mind.

Oh, but they managed to sneak a reference to the classic series in there when Jack mentioned the Mara.

I wish they didn't kill off Jack's ex-girlfriend. Damn fairies!

"Fairies" is hardly the most terrifying thing. I guess it's good if you want to put little girls off fairies but little girls wouldnt be watching the show to begin with. Petal death? Lame.

I did like the fact that the "fairies" could go anywhere and be anywhere. That was the only terrifying aspect of it. Otherwise.. the episode sorta sucked compaired to the last one =/ it just.. wasnt as scary as it should've been.

I liked the flashbacks though~

Actually, I think that fairies actually are kind of similar. In traditional folklore I think that fairies tended more towards luring children off into the forest and playing malicious tricks, not to be cruel, but to amuse themselves, because they have such a different sense of morality.

I agree. I like the Jack background, though it brought up more questions then it answered lol.

I really liked this ep, but as others have said, I wish they hadn't shown the fairies so clearly. It kinda killed the fear. That and they looked remarkebly like the creatures from "School Reunion". That was the first thing I thought, was "well damn, they're already recycling.

Aside form that, great episode. I love the paranoia of them being everywhere and never knowing when they'd get annoyed with you.
