"You should go out and make friends of your own, Jing, being the oldest son doesn't mean you have to look after your siblings all the time."
"But I want to look after Xu and No! I have to make sure that they don't get hurt or picked on or nothin'!"
"Nothing. And your sisters will be fine without you for one afternoon, sweetheart. Now I don't want anymore arguments. You go out and find some other cubs your age to talk with-- who AREN'T related to you by blood?"
He hadn't been happy about that, he would rather stick around with his sisters to make sure they didn't get into trouble, bullied or anything...
Now where was he gonna find someone to satisfy his mother's specifications, and how was he going to proove it even if he did? Quite a delima for the juvinille as he roamed, parting the grasses as his bright white and gold figure explored the grassland in search of a new friend.

Mastema was once again running through the grasses, his legs longer than before though his size still that of a cub. The soft tan pelt fit perfectly within the grasses, and his eyes could only stare at the new creature before him. A small bird was waddling along, it's colors vibrant and yet it's song silent. It knew that the lion was there, and while the juvenile had no ill intentions, most only saw him like his other siblings, a savage.
"Birdy!" He said in a song-like chorus, jumping out of the grasses only to be met with the fading chittering of the creature flying away. Blinking with wide green eyes, he just stared after in confusion as his bottom landed on the ground, his head tilting with misunderstanding as he became stunned.
Ah the beauty and the pain of pure ignorance.

Wide eyed, surprised, Jing'fei heard it. He didn't know why it startled him so, but in truth it had. The pale cub had jumped in surprise and whirled around all at once, looking for the source of the call. It sounded like another cub, and that-- was perfect! Delight coursed through him now, realizing that if he could convince his mother that he'd made at least one friend she'd go easier on him about wanting to look after his sisters! He was perfectly capable of befriending another!
His tail lifted high, golden streaks waving through the air as he bounded in the direction of Mastema curiously.

Having directed his eyes now downward, the tan cub looked at his paws and lowered his ears, caught up in the moment for only but a second. His mouth was wavering before it sprouted into another smile, and he lifted his eyes to turn them back down the path. He had heard Jing, if just barely, and moved to stand up on his paws and grin to the newcomer.
"Hellllo!" He chimed out, when Jing was close enough, before moving over towards him now, "I didn't think anyone else was here!" A light laugh followed the statement, Mastema clearly giddy with the idea of a new friend just as much as Jing was.
