Can you be overly obsessed with books?
Example: I have a friend who loves the Demonata series by Darren Shan. She ordered some of the books from the UK 'cause they weren't out in the US yet, she has made an expansive roleplay with one of my other friends where she is married to the main character of one of Darren Shan's other series and has children with him, she freaked out this weekend and was all pissy and irritated because the friend she roleplays with has gone to Washington state (We live in NV) for the weekend, and her internet's gone retarted so she wouldn't have been able to roleplay through PMs, (both of them are on gaia) also with the books she ordered from the UK she'll freak out if my other friend borrowing them doesn't hold the corners together 'cause she doesn't want the corners to curl out. Y'know how when books get old the corners start curling.
It's frankly a bit annoying but I was just wondering if it really is possible to be overly obsessed with a series or just books in general because for most it doesn't seem like it.

It is quite possiable to be overly obssesed with a series. People can get addicted to just about anything if they try. Look at video games, if you need an example - you can often watch a person play for ten hours without moveing. The same thing can happen with books. Find a series you like and you just need to buy more of it / read more of it / keep them in perfect condition / etc.

That is true. I've done that a few times where I figure I'll only play a video game for an hour then before I know it it's midnight and I'm practically falling asleep with the controller jammed up my nose. But that may be more loosing track of time than being obsessed.
I have had something like that happen though where I'll find a series I love then I need to keep reading it but it has never gone to the extent of ordering them from onother country just to get it before it comes out where I am.

He's some writer from either the UK or Ireland. I haven't read the series but I may eventually.

I care for all books more than I cared for that stupid robot baby back in High School. And I got an A+ on that project.
JUST WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT ME!?

I like to wear hair twists that have little books on them to work, or just when I go out in general. They're very cute!
It seems quite easy to be obsessed with books, either a series or in general. I for one am still quite enthralled with the adventures of the Scarlet Pimpernel. I would love to see the musical. I've heard so many good things about it!

I believe it is quite possible to be overly obsessed with books. I have a tendency to be like that. I usually have an up to date inventory list of wht I have which is for making sure sisters don't run off with books, or if thy're misplaced i know I'm not just losing it. If I've heard of the series or author or read the book I can usually tell you the title, author, and an approximate number of pages (though more frequently just title and author). I've got a reading list that is wa, way too long that I'll never get finished with, especially since things keep getting tacked on. I just love books and care more deeply about them then I do my grades at times and i'm freaking out because I don't have high A's in all of them. Yes, I do believe it is entirely impossible to be overly obsessed with books.

Some of my book obsessions haven't gone as far, but if I had the time and money, they would consume my life even more so than they do now. :3
Yeah...almost OCD kiddies and good books = not good.
