He was younger than her by at least a year, but his youth was what drew her in to him. It was almost like forbidden fruit, a sense of danger loomed over their "friendship", a friendship ripe with benifits. And though she didn't want to admit it she found herself wanting more to be at his side swapping wit, and for once, not just for material gain. With only Motomilia as a friend thusfar she realized that she hadn't made good use of her time. Tamu'meka had great promise and potential as a loyal friend, or perhaps he'd even be someone she could consider worthy enough of the status and title of her mate...

She didn't like the notion of being treated like a fragile doll, and wanted to be respected while also being put on the pedestal she so deserved. It was an extremely high double standard and expectation, but she hadn't and wouldn't settle for less, ever.

The female at the moment was lying out in the shade of the oasis, listening to the brook babble softly into the waterhole that made this place a haven amidst the many layers of hell the dunes created. Her eyes were shut in contentment, breathing visibly deep as she half dozed.

Their companionship was what kept him coming for more, as well as their playful spats of wit and charm, both summing up to a grand ol' time. Simply knowing that besides your parents, another waited for you, wanted to see you, urged your personality to prosper as it was, seemed-well, worthy of Tamu's time. Much like Azula, he valued a friend highly, and held expectations to both friendship and suitable mating partners. His desire for the perfect relationship was always just above the horizon, just beyond his reach so it seemed, making those standards exceed the limit of normality.

And meeting Azula did not lower that bar.

He enjoyed her company, and even loved her as a friend would love another friend, yet he knew he was deserving of something grand, something special, and just as Azula, he would not lower his ideals unless he was sure of his feelings, as well as her own.

Now, for Azula to reach the bar, this was possible, and at times Tamu almost expected it of her. She was the idealistic female, in his eyes, perfect.

His head wandered, brown lens swooning on simply the image of her in his head. Their friendship was stable now, and yet the thought of exceeding the limitations of a friendship always stood on the margin of his mind. His gaze swiped the land, passing over the sand dunes and onto the Oasis where, beyond the foliage, was his girl. Azula, the name, the face, the smell--it would forever put a smile on his face. Approaching her, with intentions on merely sitting beside her form, he released a short roar like call. He was here, and that alone was why he exerted such a forewarning.

'Azula, my, my don't we look refreshed.' He mused, wandering up to her and seating himself beside her, eyes on the water, and reflecting back at him.

The lioness need not open her eyes or lift her head to greet her friend, an ear turning towards his haroled approach. Despite his age, Tamu was confident with the empowerment of the blood flowing in his veins. No, age, nor birthplace, nor even blood determined the Firekin in Azula's eyes, but the strength of heart to hold oneself tall in the face of any adversity, any challenge, any shadow. She may have been born among low-brows, but she would never be like them.

His presence settled next to her, leaving her to begin a light rumble, not a purr, but not a growl, just content.

"Hmm..."

Distressed, it was very self explanitory. He was distressed at her unwilling nature to simply stay quiet. She was, tired? But it was no excuse. He had arrived! It was time to party.

His jaw's slipped open, his tongue releasing and rolling over the top of Azula's head, pushing the fur in the opposite direction of it's natural flow. A low groan escaped his throat while doing so, and continued on till he retreated back, finally sitting straight and...still distressed.

She heard him shift, but what happened next took her by actual genuine surprise. No one had ever DARED to be that bold with her before Tamu'meka came along, she usually clawed their faces up before they got close enough to invade her space! Tamu'meka wasn't unwanted company however, though she had been playing hard to get for weeks now. Usually men didn't make the first moves until she'd indicated permission, yet Tamu simply -took-, both her permission and the initiative. She'd have to break him of that habit a bit, but for now she was a bit baffled.

Azula, quite a comical sight with her fur now standing on end, growled a bit and rolled onto her side, simultaneously reaching up a paw to bat at his muzzle in rare show of "disapproval". She had half a mind to shove him into the watering hole, but instead bared her fangs a bit in a harmless display of fangs to accompany the warning, lowering her lips again afterwards and giving a shake where she lay. It didn't help to straighten the fur of course, so she reached up a paw to try doing the job instead. Weather or not these were simply her standards in effect or more of her playing hard to get, it wasn't for sure.

Tamu hissed gently in comply to the swatting and intimidating fang showcase. He wanted attention, and surely he was to get it one way or another. His tail swayed gently, a smirk forming across his lips. 'Azula, please do not keep me begging. Get up, talk to me. I do not approve of your silence...' It wasn't often Tamu was forced to beg for her words, for naturally, just his apperance would set her off in a challenge of words, yet today was the exception.

His body rolled, back facing her stomach. These days, when Azula was at her laziest, he often despised the most. There was little way he could possibly motivate her, and the only way to feed his energy would be to chatter to her, whether she listened or not.

'Miss Azula dear, my day has been going quite horribly. I went to fetch me some food, and I can't find a thing! Then some--thing pops out of the sand and nearly attacks my paw off.' His head had lifted to see her as he spoke, but now dramatically fell again to the ground, his sigh gently rasping the tips of his lips.

Azula let him prattle on as she restored her fur to it's original condition, snuffing an exhale loudly as he informed her that he didn't approve of her silence. Well that was just too bad, he wasn't going to get her to talk THAT way.

She got to her paws and gave his head a firm push with a foreleg, moving to slowly circle the watering hole amidst the grass as if debating going in or not to cool off.

"You shouldn't complain so much. It's unbecoming, Tamu'meka, I don't approve."

She'd tossed the words back at him, making it clear that she was a little miffed, though despite the snippy retort she held no air of childishness about her, only sombered. He owed her an apology of some sorts for mussing up her fur and embarassing her like that. He'd better do something to make it up to her soon, or she'd be most displeased with him.

"And if you can't find food then do what I do and hunt beyond the borders of the pridelands. There are plenty of stupid herbivores living in the jungle these days."

Tamu could practically taste her disgust, even if it were light in 'flavor' and as it was, he was slowly becoming a bit agitated with Azula.

What he had done would not have bothered him, but that is what made the two different--and he was very, very respectful of Azula...and what she deserved now was an apology. But was it in his nature, Tamu'meka's nature, to say I'm sorry? Honestly, it was not. Males had their egos, as did females, and Tamu'meka was proud of that part of him. It was his pride that wouldn't let him say sorry, otherwise it would have spilled out of him like the flow of water.

'I see, how improper of me.' His eyes rolled with the comment, his body rolling to his belly as his head lowered to his paws.

Her anger, as it seemed, grew with her words, and as she spit the statements to him, he winced and snarled inwardly. Tamu was not used to being scolded, or put into his place, being that he was constantly on his own, doing what he wanted, when he wanted behind his parents back because he simply did not care what they had to say. Yet, here with Azula, he felt something for her, and letting his inner self simply ignore her wants and ignore her sudden attitude would only lead to further arguments or even worst.

He ran through what to say in his mind, head still resting on his paws, eyes lifting to the barks of the trees. There was little he could come up with, seeing that he was not used to such treatment. He sighed, eyes shutting momentarily before opening as his body lifted. He would apologize to her, no matter how much it would hurt him. He was determined to do so.

Approaching her, he smiled and released gentle coo's, before retorting to her final statement. 'Oh, I will not venture out there Miss Azula, unless you are by my side, in the heat of the hunt.' By this point, his body had managed to follow the coarse of Azula's and was standing near her. Lowering to his belly, he moved the rest of the way towards her, crawling and stopping, giving him the appearance of a stalking predator. His limbs, as long as they were now, looked rather goofy as they swung this way and that, till he finally lay at her feet, at which time he rolled onto his back and pawed at the air, scrapping his paws up one of her legs while using his hind feet to paw at the air about her.

'Azula,' he whispered, running his muzzle about the floor near her paws. 'Azula!'

Azula was just as happy to let them soak in the unplesant silence if it meant teaching him a lesson, for she couldn't quite bring herself to threaten him, as a friend, just as she wouldn't be able to threaten Motomilia so easily, but if pushed, she would either of them.

Her motions ceased as he began his rather ridiculous display... It was downright undignified to be crawling around on the ground like a cub at play, and for a moment her irritation remained.

Then he made that comment, and she shut her eyes and shook her head just so. She would not be wooed so easily from her annoyance.

Then he began to brush his limbs against hers, and she didn't move, simply opening her eyes and lowering her gaze to watch him warily. She would not be distracted from the fact that he had upset her and needed to be punished for it.

Then he began to whisper her name, and she wasn't sure if she should be confused, or appeased. How could he act so silly at a moment like this? Didn't he take her seriously at all? But of course he did, he always had, and right now he was simply showing his apology, but she wanted to hear it still. She wouldn't give him what he wanted until he did the same for her.

"What?"

Tamu huffed, not at all happy with her words. He stopped his pawing, his nonsense of play and his own way of sporting apology. Why was she being so stubborn--why couldn't she understand that as large as her ego was, his was that times two? Flattening his paws, he kept to his back, eyes narrowed and aimed up to the figure of Azula, body stiff like a rock.

'What kind of response is that, Azula?' His tone was rigid, slowly trying to recompose himself...his pride was seeping through quicker then he could plug it up. 'I am trying to display...my form....of....' he paused, eyes shifting to the left, head rolling with the movement. He stayed quiet, inwardly releasing his gathering irritation. She wasn't complying to his gestures, and this frustrated him. Turning his body and rolling to his feet, he growled to himself, still looking off with his head hovering just above the ground, body stature very low and to the ground.

'Azula, what do you want from me? What do I have to say to you so you won't speak to me like my...like my mother?' His gathered frustration began an unusual mix with his inner feelings of his parents, or rather what parents were said to do...he had never been taught to understand a discipline, so Azula acting out this way only made him angry.

'Tell me what it is you want me to say.' He knew...but he wasn't willing to say it...not yet. He just hoped she'd understand…which there was a slim chance of that happening.

As the negative energy finally began it's transfer, Azula felt her tension loosen it's hold, then begin to ebb away the more frustrated and flustered he got. She knew that as a man his ego was even bigger than he was, but Azula put so much effort and thought into remaining collected in the face of trials, that when she became truely upset she held no control over her temper. Her discipline could only take her so far when pushed so much.

So, as it was, she felt completely in her element once more as the tides turned, and instead of answering the distraught youth verbally, she moved in closer and sat on her haunches, raising to hold his muzzle shut in both black painted front paws a moment.

"You're talking too much again." She remarked calmly, letting him go and moving to all fours to one side of him, getting up to brush against his side as much as his posture would allow, tail thumping against and then dragging along his chest as the female moved past. Don't say, do. He didn't have to -say- he was sorry, oh no, she'd much rather if he simply showed it, would prefer the inverbal demand that she accept it. Dominance was power, and she didn't want him to be under hers all of the time. She dominated every body else, it'd be nice to not have to do so much work with the male she picked for her mate.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 12, 2006 12:50 am

It was his turn to be upset, and yet he wasn't willing. Her movement made him chuckle, her brushing against him cause his mind to simply work about the idea that she was over it. And because it seemed as so, he was over it. His body turned, following hers with merely his eyes before moving towards her.

His body immediately brushed against her own, his paws moving quickly over the soft ground. As he reached her head, he ducked his own cranium, slid it under her chin and abruptly stopped before her, making sure not to bump into her neck. A low murmur whisking out, as well as an almost silent jumble of words.

'Azula, I am sorry.'

Their shows of affection had grown consensually bolder this day, and as the female stopped to allow the proximity she seemed to give a little, and groomed his manea bit while purring very low in her throat. So he'd understood her after all, not missing a beat... she felt pleased, pacified, and not at all thinking his apology to be weak.

"Apology accepted."

Tamu was, as equally as she, pleased by their forgiveness. His head bobbed as he brushed her features, licking and pampering the female that, in his mind, he valued higher then that snob nose princess. (or even his uncle, the king.) There was something far beyond the connection of chemistry two lions (or lovers) shared, that surpassed even the closest bonds between family.

His purrs joined with her own in a chorus of rumbling noise, each as different and relaxing as the other. He sat back a bit, easing onto his haunches and shifting his weight over.

'Ahh, Miss Azula, what shall we do now hmm? Are you up for a hunt, perhaps?' He looked her, up and down, smiling contently. Hopefully, for he couldn't recall her saying so, she hadn't eaten too much prior to their mishap.

"I don't desire food at the moment. Just peace and perhaps companionship..."

Dealing with someone as young as Tamu'meka had prooven to be a bit tiresome over the passing weeks, but she didn't fault him so much as the immaturity of youth.

The lioness quietly settled down on her haunches again, deciding something then. Perhaps if she finally indulged his wishes then she could once again gain a better grasp of the situation. It wouldn't due to leave the bait sitting too long. If she teased him too much he would loose intrest... no, better to snare the catch now rather than regret the loss later.
