While it had been a time since Nyota had given birth to two beautiful cubs, it had also been a time since she had seen Amri. It concerned her a bit, but what could she do? The best she could do now was understand that there were things he himself had to work out, and she would do her best to be there for him if he needed her. She just hoped that he hadn't abandoned their new family.

But soon her attention turned to a near mirror image of her mate, the little Hifadhi. Her little son was stomping around on the soft earth that the jungle had, his little paws leaving pawprints as he did his best to stop the ground flat. Seems like the little leopon didn't much like the soft earth. Nyota smiled warmly, loving her little son as she did her best to not laugh at him. While she was still nervous of the jungle, she would absorb herself in her children to distract her from other worries.

Eww eww eww!!

Hifadhi just didn't like the soft sand. It got inbetween his little toes, and would always get all over his fur. It was just something that he couldn't escape though, and soon he gave up, only to flop against his mother's chest, giving up with a great sigh.

"Mama...I give up." He stated. Perhaps he could just get used to the stuff. It wasn't harming him. But it just...tickled a lot. And he couldn't concentrate on pouncing on the shiney bugs and weird feathers that laid about. Oh well.

He sulked a bit for the time being. Might as well enjoy his mothers doting attention until she fretted about Dad again.

Nyota laughed lightly and licked her son on his' head, admid many grunts. She smiled sweetly at him. "Oh, it'll be find, Hida. You'll get used to it, as I did." She gave him a little nuzzle, thinking his little pouting was just too cute. "Just give it a little time. Soon you won't even notice."

She pulled him over and pawed at his silver coat, brushing off the bits of soil that still clung to his coat. It would be futile, though, for in just another moment he'd surely get it all dirty again. A mother's duty was never done, it seemed. Nyota never realised just how much her own mother did for her until now...but she aimed to be a better mother then her own.

"Perhaps if you had something to distract you with..." and just as she spoke, a little beetle had found it's way in front of the pair. Unlucky for that beetle.

Hifadhi's ears priked up as he saw the shiney little beetle in front of him. Goodie! Something to play with. He stuck his butt up into the air, waggled his tail a bit, and pounced.

Only to miss.

The blue bettle scurried off into the brush, disappearing from sight. He sighed, sulked, and stomped back to his mother. "Mama, I'm bored." He protested slightly, hoping that his mother would cure his boredom, just like that! Isn't that what mothers were best at?

Nyota couldn't help but giggle at her kid. Well, her certainly took after her more then Amri. She nudged him hard, picked herself up, and began to walk off, hoping that her son would soon follow. She was a bit hungry, and hoped to find something to snack on. She did not want to hunt with her little cub tagging along, so instead she would try this 'fishing' business that she'd seen others do. Whether she would be sucessful enough, was another question.

Hifa squeaked as he saw his mother walked off, the little leopon soon bounding after her, with much less grace then she had. His bounding was okay until he tripped on an upgrounded root, as to where he stumbled and slid across the bumpy jungle floor. When he stopped moving, his whole body looked like it was only consisted of limbs and tail.

Hearing his mother laughing at him, the little silver boy unwound himself, shaking off the stunned feeling that came with smacking your head around. He let out a soft growl as he shook himself off, little bits of dead leaves and dirt falling off of him and settling back onto the ground. "Dun laugh at me, Mama."

Nyota couldn't help but laugh at her little son's trouble. It was just something too cute to ignore. Smiling warmly, she soon walked past him, her tail brushing around him to help get him up and moving again. She was a bit hungry, and always knew that her boy would be hungry too. What was it with males, and them always hungry, anyway?

She soon found a small pool of water. The jungle always seemed to have it's own hidden treasures, and the one thing that the lioness loved about the jungle, above all, was the abundance of water. She soon slipped into the pool as best she could, hoping that she hadn't scared any of the fish away. Hopefully hifa would stay on the shore like a good boy, and she could bring him back a fish to munch on.

Hifa gathered himself up and bounced after his mother, only to skid to a stop once he noticed that she had slipped into the water. He caught himself before toppling into the crystal clean pool, and peered over it's edge, his heart beating as he looked at himself. He looked like his Papa a lot, though he didn't know much about them. Something made Mama run away, and though he didn't know why, she had somehow only managed to grab him instead of his sister as well. He hoped that they were okay, and that he'd see them again.

His attention turned to his mother, who was looking kind of silly, standing in the water so still, looking so...angry? Maybe not angry, but she sure did look serious!

Nyota took a moment to glance at her son, hopefully he would realize that he needed to be quite and still in this moment. They hadn't had much to eat recently, and she hoped to catch more then one fish for her son, but who knew what she would catch.

A school of silver fish had returned to the spot where Nyota and disturbed the water, and they began to relax, and even swim all around the brown lioness. Her rosey eyes watched the fish, as still as she could be, while waiting for the perfect chance to hit as many fish out of the water as possible.

With a flick of her wrist, she swiped at a group of them, not bothering to see if she caught any. She had another split idea, and she pounced on it even before she swiped her paw. Snapping at the fish, she felt one catch in her teeth as she pulled up and clambered towards the shore of the clear pool.

Hifadhi was a good son, and kept himself quiet and still for as long as he could. He wanted to go in with his mother, but he didn't know how to swim, and he didn't think right now would be the right time to ask him mom if he could learn to swim.

He began to whimper, not liking how long his mother was ignoring him, until a burst of movement silenced him, and even made him scurry back into the brush a bit before he realised that it was jsut his mother.

Wide-eyed, he was stunned as his mother came out with a fish in his mouth, and one, two...three whole fish flopping on the shore! Wanting to be of some help, the little cub bounced towards the fish , pouncing on one of them before it could try to get back into the water. He heard his mother push the other two fish more onto the shore, while Hifa's fish slowly started to stop it's flailing as it gasped for air that it could actually breathe.

"Wow, Mama!"

Nyota laughed at her son wrestling with a fish before snapping off the heads of the fish so they would stop moving quicker. Their thin, watery blood rushed around the brown lioness' paws as she worked on getting one open enough for her little silver son to munch on himself. "Come here, Hifadhi, you should eat something."

Her tail flopped behind her, pleased and amazed with how many she caught. She didn't know if the two of them could eat it all themselves, but even if they couldn't, she would leave what was left for the scavengers to pick at. There was no use in wasting what another could eat, even with all the lush life in the jungle. Sometimes, not everyone could hunt as well as she had this afternoon.

"Okay, okay!" the leopard lion mix bounced towards his mother, abandoning his dead fish for one that was ready for him to munch on. He was excited to eat something other then the bits and pieces of things that they were able to fine. "Yay!" he squeaked, diving right into his meal before he even realized that the bones were still there. "Ew, yuck," he pouted, picking at the bones with his claws before diving back into his meal, tail wagging behind him with joy.

He heard his mother get up and go to the other fish, but the cub didn't even bother to look up as he ate his fill, nearly finishing the fish that he was given. Granted, it was the largest fish out of the four, but he felt proud on eating so much of a huge fish!

The brown lioness had gotten up to fetch the third fish to consume, since the other two had seemingly disappeared. She never realized just how hungry she was once she had a surplus of food in front of her. She ripped through the last fish, eating it quite quickly since it wasn't as large as the fish her son had ate.

She left what was left, the heads and some skin and bones to whomever would want them. Instead, she did want to get back to her temporary den. Perhaps she would teach Hifadhi how to swim another day.

'C'mon, Hifa, let's go back and see your sister," she called over to him, expecting the little cub to bound up to her side to walk back. She loved her little boy, even if he was a bit picky and whiney at times.

Hifadhi glanced up at his mother, a prompt smile flying across his face when he heard his mother mention home. Yay! "Okay, Mama!" he exclaimed, quickly rubbing his face off on his shoulder to 'clean up' before bounding towards the brown lioness, tripping only once until he caught up with her. Home was fun, and he liked his family a lot. And Mama was always happen when they were all at home.

"Let's tell stories tonight!" he demanded, always loving the stories that his mother told. Such strange things about how spirits lived everywhere, and some other neat things from her cubhood. He never understood why his mother left her old hom, but before he could ever ask, she would just continue on with another story, and he would simply forget to ask her.

Their voices faded off from the pile of fish heads that rested on the jungle's floor, which had already been picked apart by a familiar looking african grey parrot.
