{This is a private RP between Progolo and Karma, please don't post if you are not them. ^^}
The sun was shining, birds were singing, and a certain young Aerandir was dashing through the fields of grass -deciding to take a much longer, alternate route to his destination. The child spread his wings, happy to feel the wind he created swirl past his body.
"Faust!" Karma called out to her charge, "Do you want to come to the beach or not?" It might have sounded like a half-hearted threat, but Karma knew that Faust wouldn't take it as one.
Spinning around, crimson hair flying in the air, so that he was facing his mother, Faust grinned and stretched his dark palm into the air to wave at her. "Uh huh!" The child nodded his head furiously and ran off to meet his guardian.
The lady moved herself over about two feet as her blur of a child darted past her. A smile played on her lips as she wondered how on earth he aquired so much energy.
Turning on a single hoof, Faust pushed a fist towards Karma "Kaa, Kaa! Lookit lookit!" The young cook carefully opened his hand to show his guardian a small handful of pea-sized red berries collected in a bright green leaf.
Karma adjusted her glasses so that she could see what her child was showing her. "Huh, what do you have there? Cranberries? Where'd you find those?"
Faust gave a sly grin and shook his head. "No tell. Seeecwet!" The boy laughed and emptied his treasure into Karma's awaiting hands. "Keepit fow me Kaa! Tank you!" With a small bow, the child was darting off again, this time to his actual destination -the beach.

Kalarune shifted languidly in her small pool behind the home she shared with her Keeper, smiling in the warm sunshine. Ah, she was such a spoiled child...Without even having to plead, she'd managed to get Progolo to build a lovely water hole for her in the back. He'd said it was because he didn't want her swimming in the bathtub all day, but...Kala knew better. She totally had Progolo wrapped around her fingers.
Having such a doting keeper was not necessarily always advantageous, though. Kala couldn't go anywhere without supervision. Even worse, Progolo made her wear clothes. She plucked at the wet material clinging to her body, and sighed.
Lazily, her golden eyes shifted over the beach. There was a sloshing noise as she suddenly sat upright.
"M-st! Look!" She gurgled with glee, pointing avidly to the dot of an aerandir that was whipping down the beach. "Pel-l-l-lae!"
Curled up in the dark shadows of the house, lay a huge, exquisite gryphon with a long plume and luminous, discolored eyes, which followed the girl's finger with acute disinterest.
Facinating, Mystaven, the gryphon, muttered boredly in mind-speak. So facinating, it renders me absolutely speechle--where are you going?
Kala had clambered out of her pond, shaking the water off as she went, and grabbed her staff with a look of wild excitement in her eyes. "Ki-in...I go play-ay?" she stammered excitedly, looking ready to run off regardless of Mystaven's answer.
Mystaven clacked his beak in annoyance. He knew it was important for the fledgeling to get some social interaction, but...did it have to be while HE was watching her? The last thing he wanted to do was chase a skinny little psuedo-human around on her various antics.
Fine, he growled deliberately. He made a move to stand up, but before he could even pull his neatly tucked-up talons from beneath his chest the girl had gone tearing off, hard hooves mutilating the sand. Running came as natural as breathing to her--she was ready-made for it. In no time at all, she was drawing up to the speck, who'd become a clearly defined Aerandir male by this point, breathing heavily.
Oi! She knew him! Kala almost didn't stop in time in her glee, nearly running the poor lad over.

His crimson hair whipping around his dark antlers as his head turned around to see Kalarune. A large smile grew on the boy's face as the name of the child in front of him clicked in his mind. He had gone trick-or-treating with her! "Kala!" Not even waiting for his friend to respond, the boy pulled her into a hug. Despite it only being about a week, it seemed like it had been forever since Faust had seen any of his friends from 'Allo'een'.
As Karma stepped onto the beach, she smiled and stretched her arms out towards the beaming sun. It was such a nice day today, she was glad that she could bring Faust out to the ocean. "So, how'd you like the beach so far?" No answer. "Faust?" Karma turned around only to see that Faust had stopped in his tracks, and was happily chattereing with another Aerandir child.
The child grinned and pointed over at the beach that wasn't too far away. "Me goin' to da beech. Kala come?"

Kala, deeply pleased at the invitation, nodded emphatically. "Le-es run!" she said, practically begged. She pointed at his feet and stammered something about how their feet matched--so he ought to be a good runner--in her broken, faltering manner.
Mystaven had finally managed to drag himself to his full height and moved away from the house, watching Kala carefully. After assuring that she was safe for the moment, he crouched and launched into the air, his wide black wings sweeping out majestically. He climbed high into the sky, and began to circle, hawk-like, above Kala and her antlered friend.

Faust beamed and nodded. Of course they would run! What was the point of going if you were going to spend all of your time getting there? Then as she stammered something about their feet, Faust peered down at the two pairs of hooves. They were the same! He looked up at Kala and grinned, dubbing the two of them, "Feet-fwends!" Stretching out one of his tan hands towards Kalarune, the boy motioned towards the beach. "Run t'getheh?"

Feet Fwends? Kala beamed, liking the sound of it. It was with alarming enthusiasm that she grabbed his offered hand and tore of towards the beach.
Mystaven stared down at the two of them, impressed at the girl's complete lack of social anxiety. Well...at least Progolo wouldn't have to worry about her not being able to make any friends. He pulled his wings in and swooped towards the ground, pulled up tightly, and circled into the sky again. As he capered about in the air, he saw another speck below. The antlered boy's keeper, he fathomed. Hm...no reason he couldn't go meet her, eh? And sweep her off her feet with his magnificent presence while he was at it, he thought pridefully.
He swooped dramtically to the ground about fifteen yards from Karma, flaring his huge black wings to add to the effect.
Good morning, my lady, he crooned, bowing in a flurry of splendor.
Ah, he was a stuck-up creature.

Faust grinned madly, words could not describe how awesome it was that she liked to run too. In a sudden bolt of energy, the boy shot off beside Kala as they raced towards the beach. He had never really been to the beach before. He’d seen it from the cabin and in passing, but the child had never been allowed to go near it as it was ‘off limits’ –whatever that means– if he didn’t ask Kaa first. As he ran at breakneck speed, Faust quickly realized, however, that that didn’t really matter much anymore as the sandy beach was almost close enough to jump to.
Observing as Faust and... Kalarune? -She hoped she remembered correctly- ran closer to the beach, Karma rolled over to face the calm waters. Suddenly a large creature (Or gryphon?) swooped down in front of her a while away. As his enormous wings flared out, the lady’s eyes widened. The sheer size of his wings alone had surprised her, but the fact that a rather polite voice had just greeted her inside her mind threw her for a loop. Perhaps she was just imagining it. The creature bowed, and the realization that: no, she had not been imagining it and no, she could not just sit there like a lump on a log rolled through her brain. So she smiled politely, stood, curtsied –because that’s what you do when someone bows… Right?– started to walk towards him after a quick glance at her charge, and called out a simple reply. “Why, good morning to you as well, Mister…” She dragged the word out slightly, hoping that he would provide a name that she could refer to him by.

Kala was pleased to find she didn't have to drag Faust as she usually did her other friends when she ran with them. He was a pretty good runner, too! No superfluous movements, no lagging, no missteps.
As they reached the beach, Kalarune whooped with delight and promptly flopped onto the sand. She gazed up at Faust as if to ask, now what do we do?
Mystaven, the gryphon crooned. My name is Mystaven. I am a servant of Progolo Dgagn, who is Kalarune's keeper. I'm on...fledgling-watch duty. And you are? He moved gracefully towards her, tucking his wings in as he went. He was easily larger than a horse and quite intimidating to behold.

The boy grinned as he decided to jump into the sandy beach, the particles flying as he landed on the soft pillow. His creamy wings immediately expanded to help the Aerandir child keep his balance, mostly closing after he wasn’t in danger of falling anymore. Looking out at the vast body of water before him, Faust’s eyes widened, it was so… so… Big! His tan head whipped over to look at Kala, crimson hair following suit, hopeful that she would know what to do at a beach. However, this was not so. Noticing the questioning look on his friend’s face, Faust shrugged and said the first thing that came to mind. “Wanna put the watah in the…” He paused for a moment so that he could scoop up some sand and motion towards it as he continued, “In… This?” That could be fun, right? Water and that fine stuff everywhere mixed together, the theory had a lot of promise, or so Faust thought.
Karma nodded her head towards the rather large gryphon. The second, yet subtle, greeting was a sign that the size of the gryphon before her still held her in surprise. “Well, it’s very nice to meet you Mystaven, ” She cracked a small grin, trying not to act nervous –not that she was horribly nervous– and continued. “My name is Karma, and I’m the guardian of that ball of energetic Aerandir,” She motioned towards Faust who was seemingly inspecting sand for some strange reason… “Faust.” She added her child’s name on just to make sure there was no name confusion.

Kala cocked her head. Was Faust suggesting that they try and mix ALL this sand with ALL that water...?
...
...
...
That sounded fun!
She nodded, clambered up, and sprinted to the edge of the water. The water seemed to run up to meet her. She squeaked and fled from the edge of foam swooping towards her ankles, before looking wildly around at Faust. It was a game she liked to play...the "water's coming" game. She could spend hours at a time fleeing the waves while on her frequent jaunts with Progolo, a behavior which had grown out of her paranoia of vast, moving water.
"Whad...d-d-do I do-o now?" she called, distressed.
I see, the gryphon said, adjusting himself in an attractive lounging position near the woman and turning his head towards the sea. Of what creatures is he comprised? he asked. He was not truly interested, but under the circumstances it was the only topic he could think of.

Of course, Faust hadn’t been insinuating that all the sand and water were mixed together, however as his friend nodded and ran to the water, a grin spread on the young child’ face as he darted after Kala. Running towards the water, as the Reindeer Aerandir approached the large gathering of the liquid, he jumped in the air and landed in it with a splash. The feel of the cold water rushing through his fur let the boy emit a small giggle before he swung his head around to catch a glimpse of his friend jumping away from the water. The boy cocked his head to the side, his wet crimson hair sticking to his face, “Whass’ wrong?” He held the confused pose for a moment before shrugging and walking over to Kala, his hooves occasionally getting stuck in the wet sand. As the boy finally made it to the giraffe Aerandir’s side he shot her a grin and said, “Well, we mix ‘em, a’course!”
Plopping down on the sand a little bit away from the waters then receding tide, the boy scooped up some of the sand, only to realize that by the water simply rolling over it, the two had mixed. Dropping the sand back to where he had picked it up, Faust noticed that when it fell, it had held it’s shape pretty well. He blinked for a second, then waved his tan hand at Kalarune to join him on the sand, a smile on his face. “C’mon, I gottan idea!”
Watching as the large gryphon seated himself nearby, Karma began to speak, “He’s made of a Reindeer and Ptarmigan. Is Kala-” She cut herself off as her head turned towards the sea only to catch Faust jumping into the cold water. Worry shot through her, before she realized that both Reindeer and Ptarmigan lived in the cold, and that the water would probably not get Faust sick.
However, the realization that her charge would be in desperate need of at least a couple towels, and that his wet fur would probably not smell like daisies rolled through her mind, and she allowed herself a short sigh. Glancing back at Mysthaven, the lady immediately flushed slightly and spouted out an apology, “I-I’m sorry. It’s just that I just realized that I’ll need to get some towels for Faust.” A nervous smile spread on her face as she looked back to the duo of children playing near the ocean. “So, as I was saying, how about Kalarune?” The lady had taken note of the unique colouring and pattern of the girl’s fur and it had made Karma come to the conclusion that the Aerandir had some giraffe in her. However her pink hair and wings were not as easy to pinpoint. Karma knew that many birds had pick wings and her first thought was that perhaps the avian part of the girl had been tropical.
