Genesis is going on tour again.

Pity the story isn't as good as it could have been. As Phil Collins told the press, Peter Gabriel backed out of the discussions about a current reunion in New York, not wanting to do a show that consisted of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.

This, along with a scheduled solo album relase and support tour during '07 will place him on tour against the three surviving members. No word on how guitarist Steve Hackett felt or why he isn't involved. Which is strange since he was the biggest promoter of the idea.

The three members have spent weeks re-learning the play list (which has songs dating to the year I was born!). The tour will be 20 cities in Europe and 20 in the US. The dates for the European venues are posted on their website, beginning in June of '07.

Damn.

What a pity. I guess that Peter isn't going to give on his stand on how he'll rejoin the band for a reunion. After watching the on-line playback of the press meeting, I got the feeling that we may never see Peter Gabriel tour with Genesis again in this lifetime.

And I'm scratching my head over Steve Hackett's no-show in this lineup. I didn't catch anything about his position in this situation either.
