The only thing that goes into your theme section is the codes.
Your list and about text go in the about section when you go to My Gaia > Account > About Me.
For example, you click "My Gaia", then "Account", and then "About Me". In that box you put your Bio (or whatever) and custom section:
I'm Ava. I'm 22 years old. I enjoy reading on a bear skin rug in front of the fire and eating people alive.
[list=1]This is my custom section. I'm going to move it around.[/list]
After hitting "Submit" you would then click on "Theme" and enter your codes to move the custom section around.
