[[PRP between Yei Umeko and Will Turner, don't post unless you ask first! <3]]

The winds were changing, and with each passing our a chill crept across her thickened coat. Having lived within the mountains, her winter coat was already fully fledged and perfectly capable of handling the harsh winds blowing in from the north but even so, there was always a tingling down her spine when they came - now would not have been a good time to have foals in the mountains.

Shaking her fiery mane, she took a few moments to admire the glowing quality it possessed against the dull rock face that she stood beside. It was during the autumn and winter months that Yei provided what little colour the mountainside possessed. As much as she loved it, she knew that the mountain relied on her and other brightly coloured Soquili to provide it with life and beauty during those months, in the months it struggled to be desirable to anyone except the odd hermit.

Hermits like herself.

...Even if she didn't want to be one.

Flattening her ears against her head briefly, she released a sigh and recollected on how Paramekia had taken to the forests in the lower regions and how Cloud had taken to the meadows as well. Once again she had left on her own and as annoying as the pair were she couldn't help but feel ever so sad to see them go.

Now beginning to pick her way along the withering grasses of the mountainside, she recollected on how similar her situation was to what it had been so many months ago when she had craved company and appreciation. She'd found the company and now it was gone, they'd all moved on.

BAH! Perhaps she was forever destined to live in solitude, she would adjust and if all else failed, she had Achak to talk to even if he didn't understand a word that came out of her mouth.

Or maybe the fates would be nice to her send her some company for a brief while...

Will slowly ambled his way through the valley between two immense mountains, tripping over his own hooves as he gazed skyward towards the top of the mountains. A chill crept up and down his spine, and he kept moving; he felt as though someone was near, but the mountains cut off some of the winds that would normally help him.

He trotted quicker, now, out of the narrow valley into a sort of grassland, where only brown blades still stood. He thought he might have seen something moving, but he couldn't be sure about it; being the cautious Soquili he was, he ducked low so that he was just barely visible in the yellowed grass.

"W-who goes there?" he called out hoarsely from behind the grass, his thick English accent ringing as it penetrated the area around him.

W-who goes there?

The stuttering voice caught her ears and she lifted her head briefly. As usual, her thoughts were completely disrupted and with a whicker she turned her steely-grey eyes towards the area in which the voice had originated from. To be entirely honest, she wasn't in the least bit surprised that it came from her immediate vicinity...she had a habit of drifting off as of late.

"I could ask the same thing to you, stranger." Yei replied calmly, shifting her body weight so that she could gaze towards him more comfortably. She could just about see his ears and the top of his head poking out above the long grass and as a result she knew exactly where he was.

The problem lay in his accent though.

...You see he had an accent he didn't trust, the accent of a foreigner. As soon as she heard that accent she automatically associated him with the hell that was the Skinwalkers. Afterall, they had arrived shortly after the pale-faced ones had.

"It is not like your kind to be on the slopes."

Will lifted his head above the tall grasses. His kind? What about them? Was she imlpying that there was something wrong with him?

"My kind?" he asked slowly. "You mean stallions? Or pirates? For I could be considered either." He tried to slow his tongue to make his accent less noticeable, and to allow the female to understand it better, but tradition stuck, and he spoke her as though she were a fellow Englishman.

Was he dense? Yei shook her head and immediately came to the conclusion that the majority of pale-faced and foreign soquili really had very little savvy or sense about them. In fact, the more clothes they had one, the more dense they could be in certain situations, or so was her experience of clothed Soquili.

"I don't know what a pirate is but I was referring to your kind in reference to where you come from." Yei replied. In fact, it was almost as though she had encountered an english stallion before and by now, was perfectly capable of comprehending anything they said - either that or she could fill in the gaps when it came to words she didn't understand.

"You should be on the beach."

Will frowned. Was the awfully rude female speaking of Mother England?

"What does it matter to you, where I came from or where I prefer to live?" he asked coldly, stepping out from behind the grasses completely. He smiled just as coldly, his mind almost willing his dark eyes to bore a whole through the female's skull. He was not one to be rude or mean to new people, but this mare had insulted him, and he would not stand for it.

Oho, he had met his match and his apparent lack of awareness as to what he and his people/kind had done made her smile bitterly. Her ears flattened against her head and with a disgruntled snort she calculated the best form of attack, physically smacking him would make her sink to his level (which was very low) but verbally 'informing' him of what his people had done - well now, that would strike a rather critical blow.

Well, if you are so innocent...

"It matters very much to me, Foreign Soquili." Yei replied darkly, her tone cold enough to slice throug hthe air before her, "Because it is your kind that have angered the spirits, destroyed our lands and inflicted so much pain upon us as of late." She snapped, narrowing her eyes to mere slits as she approached him.

"Before your kind came, before your two-leggers arrived we never had any problems, we lived in virtual peace and harmony, even with the kalona but now - NOW we must endure the horror of the Skinwalker and the curses of enraged spirits. You brought them with you!"

Will snorted quickly, angrily, holding his head higher and protesting, "You think I want them here? My two-legger is horrible.. thank whomever that they have short life spans when it comes to survival." He looked back towards the mountains and continued to speak.

"You seem harsh, one to go by first impressions," he said softly. "And for that, I admire you." He turned back to her.

"And yet I envy you. You have the mental strength that I've longed for for an eternity. And yet you have not attacked yet. Don't lie to me; I know you are thinking about it, the first impression tells me that. Self control is what you possess; a rare quality among others. You know, us English'uns aren't that bad; it's the wreckless regulars you've all learned to trust that you must fear."

Yei raised a brow. This type of reaction was common in the mare when she was taken aback and after a few moments, she released a small sigh. It wasn't so much a sigh of defeat, but one of weariness - every clothed stallion she had ever met had caused her some form of grief. She didn't think they intentionally meant to do it, but they always tired her out and always seemed to rub her up the wrong way.

"It comes with age." She informed him in a flat tone, referring to his claim that she had self control. It was true, she was vaguely aware that when she was younger she may have at least nipped him through annoyance but now...well, it just seemed like too much effort.

"If you hadn't noticed, I'm a bit passed it." She replied jokingly, shaking her head as he warned her of the 'regulars'. She knew a lot of these regularsand although she had met a few that could have done with a bit more discipline when they were growing up, she knew how to handle them and had never had any hassle before.

"Just because they live here and were born here, it does not mean I automatically trust them, Sir."

Will smiled slightly. "Then you're smart as well. I admire you. And I hope that you will someday be over these horrendous first impressions."

He bowed his head down slightly and looked to the ground. "Let us start fresh," he said, trying to adopt the native accent to no avail. "I am Will Turner, cared for by a twolegger from these parts. And who might you be?"

He stood straight up again and flicked his tail back and forth calmly. Hopefully, this bold, rash female would see where he was coming from; not from a place filled with monsters, but with curiousity. There was a big difference there. He snorted and backed away slightly as a fly tried to land in his nostril, flicking it away with the greatest of ease.

Yei wasn't one who often allowed compliments to overwhelm her, in fact, while in hostile situations she often tended to cast them aside as though they were inappropriate or meaningless. However, on this occasion as he referred to her as 'smart' she couldn't help but feel a slight flutter in her chest - he seemed almost genuine and this rather put her nose out of joint.

And so, as he introduced himself she simply placed a level stare upon him and grimaced. She had heard stories...if you gave someone your name, it was enough for them to harm you sometimes.

"Yei Umeko." She replied at last and released a sigh, "I live in the mountain ranges but often descend to socialise with those who prefer the warmth and shelter below."

Will smiled warmly. "There, now was that so hard?" he joked, flicking his mane out of his eyes. "I don't know where I call home... I can stray from the ocean to the mountains, and everywhere in between."

He reached his head down to n** at his own ankle for a moment, then stood back up, his stomach growling violently. "Hungry?" he asked quietly, motioning towards a supple valley not too far off. "I know some really delicious feeding places. Apples, too."

"Home is where the heart is and where you feel most secure." Yei replied simply, most would have called it a cliche answer but she clearly believed in it. Still, as he offered a smile her demeanor did become much more welcoming and she took a few steps forward. A raise of a brow indicated that she had heard the stomach too.

"I am not particularly hungry," She responded, pausing to cant her head to the side in thought. "But I will accompany you to this patch you speak of, simply out of curiosity." She mused, flicking her mane out of her eyes as she came to his side.

"...And security reasons."
