Not much to look at on the outside, and perhaps it does give off the sense of foreboding. Though don't let that cause you any concern, or scare you off, for the interesting stuff lies inside.

I am Charon, and I am your host, so allow me to welcome you to.....

Fear is a luxury that one can ill afford, and as such if it is I that you wish to visit, then it is your fears that you must tame. I do not pretend to be normal, and if I did then I would be as boring as the next mortal that has walked upon this stony path into my Crypt.

No if you possess the stout of heart, and the adventurous spirit that I believe that you possess you will find an air of excitement as you descend yonder stairs into my main hall. Please excuse my slave to the right, as he is cleaning the tiles with his tongue. I do so much try to keep my crypt clean.

I usually keep to myself, and as such, the crypt is left in a spartan condition. Though is it truly surprising to find the situation as thus. Now mind you it really doesn’t bother me, and as old as I am, I have just about seen anything and everything. So as such, the word surprise has been marked out of my dictionary.

We proceed deeper into my crypt and into the living or in my case unloving area. For even the Undead finds dormant periods to our liking. We still dream, we still have emotions, and we still have aspirations. Though in the later case, those aspirations can be anything from the mild to the most vile. Though I digress now as we come upon my library. These books, scrolls, and stone tablets carefully preserved by magicks to weather the torrents of time.

As stated before, even the dead sleep in some manner or another, and to most you would find the stereotypical undead resting in coffins, sarcophacus, upon a stone slab, and other things that they feel they must torture themselves further. While I, well some might say I am decadent, while others might find me insane. But to all of them, I honestly don’t care what they say, for I will be around long after they have been reduced to dust.

As such, I prefer a different approach, and it is here, that you find yourself in my bed chamber. Yes, your eyes do not deceive you, but you do see a bed. I have been told that the bed is quite comfortable, and the cloth and mattress the most comfortable. Perhaps one day when I feel inclined to take a human form or other, I will test that out.

If I was going to comment about any kind of regret, it might be the fact that I envy the living. Oh to be sure, as I said before I could take the form of a human or other kind of creature. Though to be honest I do not know if I could fully appreciate what the living take for granted. It is marvelous how the five senses within the living. How each one works together, giving ones mind an unlimited capacity for different pleasures and…. Pain. Yes, you did hear me correctly as I said pain, for if not for pain how could you truly feel alive.

One of those things I will have to experience and research in the next millennium or two. Though I must admit, that I do find myself a bit curious, and have gone as far as to sample food, for taste is such an interesting sense. As such, you will find a small room with a small table. It is here that I experiment with food and drink. Perhaps one day I might broaden my horizon and invite a mortal to dinner…. Oh, do not fear, for you will not be the main course.

Now at this point, you must consider braving the dark, for I am very sure that you believed that this was all that my mere crypt had to offer. You still stand amazed by the sheer size of the Crypt, and at this point I am sure you have gleaned that some sort of magic or spell is involved in its creation.

To that I would say that you are correct. There was no mere chance or genius architect save my own that created the Crypt. There was plan, and there was purpose, for I am a creature of habit, and as such I made sure that it served a function. As such we will now delve deeper into my crypt, to a portal that very few mortals have seen, and immortals tended to avoid.

You will have to excuse the illumination, but I saw no true purpose for it, for normally it is only I that enters this chamber. For you see the chamber you have now entered leads to a very large portal of my own creation. The portal is a link to that which I know better than any other being in creation…. The River Styx.

As such, we have come to an end, and you have now seen my home. I do hope you enjoyed your time here, as I am sure you have no desire to return. So I bid thee farewell until its your time to cross over.
