I just got back from my shidokan class. Ok Shidokan if you dont know is called the triatholon of the martial arts. It consist of muay thai kickboxing, Brazilian jui jitsu, and shotokan/Kyushukin karate techniques. Two of thoughs techniques have been called the most effective forms of all MA. Now today was my 4th day, today we did are free sparring. My class consist of ALL adults(im the only kid, 14) and they are all serious. They did NOT go easy on me if thats what your thinking. It was fun...but at the same time...It hurt like a b***h(Oh but the rush was so worth it)...We used boxing gloves, and shin pads. It was full contact except for head strikes. I want to know about all the gaia MAtest first time sparring.

I've never known Shidokan to include Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or even Muay Thai..

From the Shidokan I saw....it has a weird sparring method. They'll go from kickboxing, to bare knuckle karate, to grappling, to MMA....all in the same match.

That sounds whack... why should you have to go from one to the other?? Should be going forward with all weapons from the get go. Sounds like someone trying to make cash off that whole "I've taken the best techniques from all arts to form the ultimate style" bullcrap. But I won't COMPLETELY pass judgement until I see some of this.

It sounds like a killer combination if combined effectively

I just about remember my first sparring match, I was paired up with a friend who I joined with, we'd already had mess about rucks in the past so there wasn't much nervousness. We kicked the crap out of each other, it was great xd

I still FIRMLY belive unless you are Bruce ******** Lee reborn, the most effective style of martial arts is just about any of them, you pick a form that speaks to your style and then tailor it to real life, mix it with a little street figghting and gernal a** whup, then spoon on a hefty helping of sheer physical conditioning.

I mean, I started in TKD and came out of it years later as one of the best Fist and Knee, or what we call 'Smackdown' figthers I know, that's why for the most part I kinda giggle at hardcore traditionalists of any art.

I hate the 'ULITIMA FORM' tards though, sure why you are trying to combine Muay Thai, Kung Fu and Russian Drunken Buttmonkey ju-jitsu over there, I'm gonna pick up this piece of rebar here and crack your skull, comprende?

Practicality, yo.

Rickson would beat the crap out of Bruce lee. Fact.

RICKSON BY ARMBAR!!

lol. What's bruce lee's record? 0-0-0 why? because he's never fought anyone with any training.

What's Rickson's record? 400-1(he supposedly didn't understand the rules, but from the video, he looked like he kinda understood it) -0

Watching a sparring session between royler and rickson. It just astounds me how ******** smotth rickson is, sakuraba will still work him though.

Honestly, i'm just getting really fed up with the idea that bruce lee was some almighty fighter. Also, best knee and fist fighter? I highly doubt you can make said claim unless you go fight amatuer or professional in Muay Thai bouts.

I'm sorry, but you are mistaken... thats definitely NOT fact. Just because a cat can wrestle, doesn't mean he's taking out one of the greatest martial artists of all time. Besides, Bruce Lee was one of the first innovators of the mixed martial arts fighting systems.

Just as you said you're getting tired of people saying Bruce was some all mighty fighter, I'm also getting tired of everyone comparing BJJ to street practicality along with its supposed "invincibililty". The truth is, unless you are actually practicing the BJJ IN the street, ON the cement/street/dirt... then the wrestler is no different from anyone else who practices their form in a controlled setting. Try mounting and passing guard on pavement... doesn't feel too great, especially if you're moving at high speeds. Not only that, but the Gracie's are purists anyways.

Not only that, but Bruce fought many people with actual training... which is why, even till this day he continues to get respect from artists , regardless of the system.

I think having broken a man's jaw in three differnt places with atlernating strikes of my rigth knee and elbow qualifiy me for one of the best I KNOW.

Big, captial letters there, for empisis.

Oh and Lee would take down whats his face with his first chance to do a side kick, which using a pressure scale was rated to his with 10,000 PSI of force.

Lee's kciks were akin to getting hit by a midsized car doing EIGHTY.

Is there really a point of talking about potential matches with the dead? Is everyone here a Resident Evil fan?

Thunder Foot:

Pfff. the ONLY reason i even used Rickson, is because among the MMA/bjj people, he's far more legendary than bruce lee. like really, he's pretty much a MYTH now. But having seen him roll, holy ******** is he smooth. And he wasn't really one of the first to mix it. He was the first to popularize it in the americas. In brazil with the peak of "True" Vale Tudo there were quite a bit of cross training goin on. And BJJ's practicality on the street is far too overrated. It is highly effective, but it's nowhere near invincible. The gracie's weren't all purists. Rolls (THE GREATEST) cross trained. I believe Helio cross trained in some form of striking. And Rickson cross trains. They all still call it BJJ however. I'm not even going to argue the "Bruce lee fought ___." Simply because unless either of us have video, we're probably not gonna convince each other. ...

Vincent

Wtf, who the hell came up with bruce lee kicking with 10000 psi. That my friend is utter s**t. Had he actually been able to kick that hard, he most likely would have broken said machine. Making your story another myth.

First time really sparring (not just being coached) I came home with those red bruises that look like hickeys all over my arms and shins. At the time there were really only a few kyu grades high enough to fight in the class, so I mostly fought dan grades.

The documentry made about Bruce Lee's life on Biography on A&E.

Do watch it sometime. lol

I've seen a video of Bruce lee kicking a 150lbs heavy bag hard enough to send it through the ceiling, and the kick it'self was enough to rip rigth rhough the bag's outsie covering.

I wouldn't ******** with that s**t.
