I don't know if this is old news or not, but Hottopic is now selling Shoxx magazine. I just got mine today. I'm guessing the feedback for Cure was really good.

The jury is still out on whether this is a good or a bad thing for me... HT is just not...a good market...

I dislike HT, but I'm glad I have easy access to my precious J-rocker magazines that make the boys at my school question their sexuality.XD

I think its not a bad idea because if our wonderful bands get discovered by the mainstream then that will encourage these bands to come here to the us more often which to me is an awesome idea ^^

I hate to sound bitter and cliched...but its true. By and large the fandom doesn't understand whats being marketed to them other than they want to be hip and different. The marketers don't respect the artistic integrity of what they're trying to sell and they pervert it and cheapen it for new fans and old alike. They just see it as money in the bank.

At one point they were selling Dir En Grey shirts at HT. I was really glad that I could get one, but kind of annoyed because I knew random people who don't even follow J-Rock would be like
"ZOMG, if Hot Topic has it, it must be awesome!"
Hot Topic and mainstream just piss me off...

Actually, when you buy Shoxx or Cure magazine online or at a con, you will be paying the same amount that Hottopic is charging. So they are not shafting anybody.

I dunno, I get em for 10 bucks thereabouts...Sasugabooks is pretty nice about magazines, they dont jack up the import fee too high and the shipping is domestic if you live in the states, so... But I get them from a bookstore, regardless. 16 bucks is LUDICROUS for that mag, I'm sorry to say. And you don't want to buy these things at cons because con prices are way too high to begin with.

cheatar1 I always buy Cure from there. Is Shoxx good? I've only heard of Shoxx TV, and yeah... Shoxx is very good. Shoxx is the parent company of Cure and Shoxx bis and all those VK mag offshoots... Shoxx is like Cure, only less fangirly, not to mean anything bad about Cure. I quite like the magazine, but Shoxx seems a lot more commercially oriented, with live reports and what not while Cure is like MAKE UP TIPS!! COSPLAY! Both are awesome mags though.

Even though it is nice that Hot topic is selling Cure magazine and Shoxx but, excuse my language, it's just so f---ing overpriced!
And Hot topic is so mainstream, I mean, the young freshmen kids at my school thinks of Hot Topic as heaven because they have their favorite "punk" bands there and such.
Sorry for the small rant but, it is sort of true, especially where I live, like every freshmen that enters high school, is either a wannabe punk or wannabe goth. It's pretty annoying.
